I'm hoping the 16gb will be £449 but I would not be surprised it if was £479. The pound is very weak at the minute. If it is £449 I might even get a dock and a bumper to go with it. Any more and it will be just the phone for me.

-Hi, my name is ********. Welcome to Apple!
Hi! How may I help you today?

-Hi, I was wondering about the iPhone 4 pre-orders. If my mother uses her credit card to pre-order the product, can I go to the store to collect it?

-Our pre-orders are available here online. We do not have the pre-order for our stores.
We will be able to have it shipped to you directly.

-Is there not a 'pick up from store' option? I thought that there was for the other iPhone. And no-one is at my house all day, so it would be easier to pick it up on the way home.

-I understand your concern.

So it looks like there will not be an in store pick up, only delivery. I am getting clarification now.

EDIT:
We are nt able to pre-order nad have it picked up at our store. we can have it mailed to you directly. Or have it delivered to a friend or family member house.

Damn, and someone in my local Apple store said you could...

Thank's. I am in and waiting.

"An Apple Expert will be with you in approximately
5 minutes and 55 seconds
We look forward to answering your questions."

I look forward to it as well!

Well not too impressed.

Hi, my name is Sumiko R. Welcome to Apple!
Hello! How may I assist you with your online shopping today?
Hello Simon. I have a question regarding the iPhone 4
Will you be selling it from the Apple UK store unlocked the same as the ipad 3G I bought?
I'm more than happy to assist today.
I would recommend to check back on the 15th as more information will be available then about it and how you can purchase it.
Do you know what time the store will open for pre-order?
There isn't a time available but have you signed up to be notified?
NO thats usually a waste of time. With the iPad the warning email came a day after the store opened. I would rather look live.
Thank you for your help
My pleasure.
Would there be anything else I may assist with today

So it looks like I'm going to have to pre-order online. Have it shipped to my house. Wait in ALL DAY long and play PS3 and stuff while I wait.

Soon as I get my iPhone = Profit.

Can't afford to preorder as need the money from seling my current phone in order to buy iPhone 4. This means I am going to have to queue on the day and also go without a phone for a week or so! Could be interesting.

Not sure why anybody expected pre-ordering for in store pickup, has apple ever done that in the uk before?

Yes, last year with the 3GS.

I'm just going to have to buy it on the never ever card and then sell my 3GS to offset the cost.

Plus I get paid either the day of or day after release so that's all good :D

******* *: Hello
*

******* *: How may I assist you today?
*

*

******* *: You can preorder here online beginning 15 June.
*

You: Can I pre-order and choose to pick the phone up in my local Apple store, or do I have to get it delivered?
*

******* *: You can reserve for pickup at the local Apple store here online on 15 June also.
*

You: If my mother uses her credit card to pre-order the iPhone, can I pick it up at the store?
*

******* *: The reserve for pickup option you will pay for the phone at the store when you pick up.
*

******* *: To pay online, you will need to preorder to have the iPhone shipped to you.
*

You: Ah, ok, thank you for clearing that up.
*

******* *: You're welcome.
*

You: Thank you for all of the help.

There we go, a better answer. You can reserve one from the retail store.

Yes, last year with the 3GS.

Ah fair enough, sorry didn't realize that. Maybe they will. It really is very frustrating for us customers over here in the uk not knowing prices or pre-ordering info. You'd think someone in customer services would put their hand up and say "Hey boss, release some info on the day the phone is announced as you will save us having to talk to hundreds of people asking us for info every day."

The 16GB iPhone 4 will not be more than £500 on Pay As You Go.

If you look at the new line up, it's nothing more than a "slide" in models.

8GB iPhone 3G replaced with 8GB iPhone 3GS - £349 price will remain.

16GB iPhone 3GS replaced with 16GB iPhone 4 - £449 price will remain.

32GB iPhone 3GS replaced with 32GB iPhone 4 - £589 price will remain. The 32GB 3GS is down to £499 to clear stock, but it hasn't always been this price.

Obviously VAT changes, etc will come into play but I think it's safe to say the prices will simply remain as much the same as possible and the models will simply "slide" over accordingly.

The mark-up profit for the iPhone must be one of the biggest in apples range. £500-£600 for a phone is just mental, I had the original iPhone and currently use a 3G, but won't be getting the 4 unless something surprising happens with pricing or deals. :(

I want a new laptop more and this thing costs 75% of a 13" MBP with HE pricing

Thanks for that mate, let's hope that is the case, I can reserve one for pickup without having to pay for it until the day. Would be fantastic!

So I'm assuming that if you want to go onto the 1month/12month iPhone simplicity plan, you will require a simplicity SIM card before you buy the pay & go handset?

Glad I could help.

But the Frenchman in my local Apple store lied to me. He said you could pay online and pick it up in store.

Damn French... (Joke!) :p

yup, thats right, i bought mine on friday just gone (1 mont rolling). il have to pay 20 quid for 15 days without it cuz the phones not out yet but hey, it will be worth it.

If you pre order from Apple and get it delivered to your home how will you get a Micro SIM?

I think the chat has gone btw.

You need to wait a while, it's availability fluctuates (I've always wanted to use that word! :D).

Also, try getting through to the chat via different products, I got through using the Macbook Pro product page the second time.

I Think She Might Have Just Been Trying To Get Rid Of You Because Your Weird Typing Style Was Freaking Her Out.

Oh No!!!!! I'm Doing It Now!!!! Must Make It Stop.....

Seriously, thanks for the great information. I think online pre order and in-store pickup is the way I want to go.

Good luck with the typing disorder :D.

hi guys, i haven't checked this thread for a few days, so i apologise if I'm covering old ground, but...

i was originally planning to buy the iPhone 4 16GB outright (£449-£500) and keep my O2 simplicity 30 day contract...but i have since decided to change that plan as getting an 18 month contract would mean paying much less up front on the handset, possibly meaning i could get 32GB and leaving me with a couple hundred extra spending for my trip to florida next month.

So my question is this, when the Apple Online Store opens for pre-orders on Tuesday, are those purely pre-orders for PAYG? or will it be possibly to select a tariff and sign up for an 18 month contract on the Apple Site with the carrier of choice?

I know currently you can sign up for a contract on the Apple site for the 3GS, but O2 have categorically stated they will not allow pre-orders...can someone clear this up?

Thanks.

I've got a chat window up. Says I have to wait 3 seconds. Been waiting 3 minutes.

Got it up through the MB Air product and also one pops up if you go through Mac Pro
