apple are making an 8gb 3gs mate, so no more 3g and the 16gb 3gs being replaced by iphone 4

Cheers for clearing that up might see if I can get my girlfriend a 8gb 3GS then if the price is right as she only uses skype, msn and facebook if it is the same price as the existing 3G.

So in theory then *lol*

8gb iPhone 3GS @ £350
16gb iPhone 4 @ £450
32gb iPhone 4 @ £550

If they do that pricing I am so going for pay as you go!

What about those who wish to pre-order a pay monthly o2 iPhone 4 and want it delivered, is that possible or is it pay as you go only?

If you look at the Apple store now it is only pay and go so I would guess the preorder will be for these handsets only from Apple directly, maybe you can preorder a contract one from cpw, phones4u if you are a new customer.

Not sure how it would work with upgrades though??

I think them prices look about right. would anyone care to guess prices of the handset on a contract or are there too many variables?

I'm thinking some where around £119 for the 16gb and £199 for the 32gb on a £35-£45 a month contract.

Guessing they would stay around the same price as the existing 16/32gb 3GS on contract.

I'm guessing £149 for the 16gb and £249 for the 32gb. 3gs at £99.

well hopefully your right about it, but i cant see it personally! fair enough if your on a 12 monther but a month rolling isnt exactly tied in... infact if you look at their new tariff page it says that unlimited is promotional until october

Data

ive been told o2 on the phone i will keep unlimited data even on 1 month simplicity. :)

That's what I've been told, although they have contradicted themselves numerous times. The very last time, I made the guy go and check with the upgrades department and he came back and said if you've got unlimited, you'll keep it, even after October. I said "so I can take that SIM and put it in any phone?" and he said yes. I didn't ask specifically about the iPhone though but that's what he told me. I also made him make a note of it on my account so it's documented. It does say in one of their press releases that unlimited data won't change for existing customers, even after October.

This might not be so important now (I don't go anywhere near 500MB which I thought was pretty strange when I found out) but what with HD movie uploads and video calling over the next year or two, who knows what will happen to our data usage, could go through the roof. I think they're capping us now because they know what's going to happen in the future.

I'm hoping to buy one on PAYG, cut my SIM down and stick it in the iPhone 4 and just carry on as if nothing ever happened. Except that I'll have a f**cking awesome new iPhone!

I think this is really unlikely especially since it's a one month rolling contract. Both parties aren't locked into a normal 18 month contract whereas on a one month contract it can change literally every month..

After having a look about we are currently sitting on prices like these:

iPhone 3Gs 16gb - 18 month contract

£35 p/m 300mins, unlimited txt & 1GB Data - iPhone 3Gs Cost = £149 (£779)
£40 p/m 600mins, unlimited txt & 1GB Data - iPhone 3Gs Cost = £89 (£809)
£45 p/m 900mins, unlimited txt & 1GB Data - iPhone 3Gs Cost = £59 (£869)

iPhone 3Gs 32gb - 18 month contract

£35 p/m 300mins, unlimited txt & 1GB Data - iPhone 3Gs Cost = £239 (£869)
£40 p/m 600mins, unlimited txt & 1GB Data - iPhone 3Gs Cost = £179 (£899)
£45 p/m 900mins, unlimited txt & 1GB Data - iPhone 3Gs Cost = £149 (£959)

So if the new iPhone 4 is to follow suit from the 3Gs like people are speculating then I could see most people opting for a £40 p/m contract with 600mins, unlimited txt and 1gb Data with a handset cost of £179, aside from the 1gb Data something around this pricing would be perfect for me, hell even if they add a little extra on top and moved the handset price up to £199 I would still be more then happy to pay it.

Alright, I know this will NEVER happen, but what is the possability of the iphone being offered for free?

i mean, something like 45/m + free iphone 4 16gb.

What would happen then? It'll make up for the contract prices..

I know this will never happen!

Anyone have any news on how you will receive your Micro SIM if you pre order and have it delivered to your home?

I'm sorry to tell you this but you will have to go all the way to your providers HQ, in person and acquire a Micro-Sim yourself......

...
....
......

Or they will just post you one like they do with the normal Sims that we use today.... Why has this whole "Micro-Sim" thing got people panicking??

I'm confused. You state that you know it will never happen yet you ask the question anyway? As you said, it will never happen. Why would they give the phone away free when they can sell it and make money? Plus the fact that apple wouldn't let them give it away free.

I could see that possible but not on a £45 p/m contract, most people seem to take contracts between £30-£45 as the "norm" so I would be expecting it to be free on a contract no less then £60 a month, maybe even higher because its "New"!

How can apple stop the network from giving it away for free? All the network do is subsidise the handset price against the contract, pay what they have to, to apple and then offer you the handset for free, T-Mobile were doing this with the 3G and 3Gs to keep high-end accounts all last year.

Just wondering, I've only ever had one iphone. I'm in the process of reseting my 3g to recycle it with o2 tomorrow as i'm going on holiday at the end of the week so can be without a phone till when i get back when apple will (hopefully) of delivered it and it'll be waiting for me. What is the best way of setting it up so that i loose none of my games, texts and settings and stuff? Can i restore the iphone4 from backup even thought the iphone 4 should come with ios4 preinstalled? I can see i'm going to loose everything here aren't i?!

I'm not panicking it's just another un necessary irritating addition. Also I've never had a phone delivered so I don't know if they deliver them with a SIM. HENCE why I asked.
