Mine just been delivered - Sweeeeeeet!

Now have to wait 2 hours for restore and all the apps to reinstall before I can have a play...Booooo! Maybe the 3DS will keep me going.....or I suppose I should do some work.....

Nice - mines just turned up to. Not bad for a friday 10pm order (plus the 30 off via voucher and quidco) and beats standing in line.

HDN bloke was the surliest i've ever encoutered though - practically shoved the thing into my hand before walking away - only muttering my name. Someone's ****** on his cornflakes todays..

Yeah mine arrived today too! First iPad ever and am pretty happy with it!

Just one thing for experienced users, should it be charging from my laptop or staying on the same percentage?

Cheers

Still waiting. I'm probably the last stop. Annoying...been ready/waiting all day and you just know its gonna come when i'm least expecting/ready for it! ugh!

Well, when you do get it, I really hope it's nothing like mine. Talk about an anti climax. It's got scratches all over the aluminium back and that screen bleed everybody's been talking about? It's very true. My iPad 1 is perfect and feels solid compared to this. Quite frankly, I'm appalled by Apple this time round, gutted :(

Really sorry to hear that.

I wonder if it's a "batch" thing, if Apple can tell your iPad was part of an affected batch they may offer to replace it quickly for you?

Would you return your iPad to Apple, exchange at an Apple store or take it back to Tesco?

Sorry to hear that m8 but I recieved mine just a few minutes ago and it has no marks on it at all I also made a black background image transfered it over to the ipad went to photoviewer and no light leaks at all I did just shoot a quick vid but it is useless all you can see is my reflection but I certain mine doesnt have this problem so at least not all units are effected.

Youtube Vid Showing my screen

EDIT
Went and stood in a cupboard wanted to get a better video and when in complete darkness I can see the light leaking not too bad but not really the point in daylight conditions it is not visible but at night time say you wanted to watch a film would drive me insane.

I'd take it to an APple Store to get replaces tbh.

I had one small (half a cm scratch, not deep or really visable) on the back. But I can live with it as I'll have a skin over mine soon anyways.

Well, that's the dilemma! I just called Apple and they will replace it but with a brown boxed model. Call me fussy, but I like to keep the S/Ns matched on the box and the unit. It looks like my choices are either getting a refund from Tesco and buying one at a later date, perhaps when these issues are resolved, getting a brown boxed model or keeping this one and get it swapped out at a later date. I'm going to purchase apple care at some point. What to do  Not what you expect to be doing after spending almost £500 quid. :(

For £500 I would expect no problems with the device and if any problem where to arise you should get it swaped out for a brand new sealed unit. Cant really believe apple have taken this stance with you maybe it would be different if you turnned up at one of their stores once they have more stock but still within 14days.

If i were the OP i'd return it. You shouldn't be dealing with brown boxed items until you're out of your 14-day return window.

Edit: Mine just arrived.

Edit 2: I have some light leak at the bottom but everything else is peachy

Exactly! There was a slight communication issue with the lady on the phone mind, her english was not 100% (neither is mine though!). Very helpful though but I don't want a brown box! Apple annoy me slightly. When I bought my MacBook a few years ago, the keyboard was faulty straight out the box. They wouldn't replace it so instead I had a new keyboard fitted. All within the first two weeks! I should have gone for the refund option back then. Good luck with yours. Let me know how you get on. Cheers.

Wow. I want to take my hat off to Tesco and to Argos (for the smart cover) - my 16GB wifi white iPad 2 has just turned up. It looks fantastic. No damage and from what I can see, no bleeding.

I'm going to give it a few days, see if it bothers me or not. It really is typical of my luck lately

Picked mine up at 3 and have been messing about with it for the last hour. So far so good, no scratches or marks that I can see and no bleeding either.

Disco, sorry to hear about yours, if I were you I'd go into the apple store in person and if they won't change it for a new (non brown box) model I'd just get my money back.

Best of luck dude.

Wait till your in a dark room tonight turn the lights off and put a black image on the screen then see if you still think the screen is fine. I thought mine was bleed free until I stood in a cupboard in complete darkness. I am also going to wait a few days to see how much it bothers me but with apple there should be no problem swaping it out next month or even in 6 month for a bleed free brown box model. I'm guessing they know about the problem and will fix it in time.

This is the thing. I could get a replacement now but it will most likely be just as bad. I'd rather wait and settle for a brown box version that is good in 6mths or so. Gonna get apple care now.

Cheers. I'm contemplating it now :) I've not even used it yet! Can't wait to try out some apps!

But yeah, back on topic, hats off to Tesco indeed! It showed up at 2pm online, then I got a courtesy call followed by a text. Excellent service! :)

Been playing with mine and have made some observations. Build quality is solid, no creaks, streaks, funky home buttons or raised glass. Screen is bright and clear but I definitely have the backlight bleed issue even though i only notice in pitch black darkness. Speaking of the screen, it REALLY needs a retina display. I've been spoilt by the iPhone 4 and using a non-retina display is....well...different.

Camera is ***** tbh but it'll work for FT. Smart cover is amazing and I haven't stopped playing with it...even more so than the iPad.

Overall I like the device but I'm still 50/50 on keeping it to be honest. It's my first iPad and whilst it's cool I'm often finding myself asking...do I really need this. Right now it's meh but maybe when I find killer iPad apps...
