Proportionally speaking, yes. And what exactly is your point? Because I look at the 2016 MacBook Pro and I see four ports that can do anything I want. They can be used to charge the computer, output high definition video, transfer data at blazing fast speeds, and connect card readers.

My point is quite obvious. This price hike with so many important features taken out is not justified and hence should be criticized.

You just got married.

Many people complaining in the forums have been in a relationship with Apple for years. Even though one could argue that Apple has always dictated the terms in the relationship, 'the price of agreement' and 'changes in terms have never been this drastic,' that the benefits of being in the relationship appears to serve just one party.

I think Mac Pro users have been very patient and it doesn't take a genius to know the basic demands most Pro users often request.

The whining and bitterness are simply symptoms of the relationship falling apart because their needs haven't being met

Yes, I couldn't agree more.

Geez I hope you enjoy your first apple product ....When you get it , I hope it lives upto your expectations

Emm are we comparing the touch bar or non touch bar, lets go with non touch bar because thats the one I had in my initial question

lol your post is so wrong I should just forget about it and let it go, but since it's a post about whining ... ;)

1) You literally CANNOT get a good processor on the mbp without touch bar. Try the configurator. You get a measly 2.4GHZ core i7 when maxed out.
2) True, it's with The touchbar. But the Stealth Blade has a 4k IGZO screen, while the mbp is still 1440p.
And the latest generation of Intel Processor, with the better graphics.
In my opinion this is worth more than the Touch bar, and at worst it's a VERY FAIR comparison.

Wow, first you take MBPr's price in NOK and then comparing its price to Razor Blades stealth in Europe.

... ?? Because it's not available yet in Norway so I can't "invent" a price ?
It will be soon according to Razer (which I contacted). The new MBP is delivered mid-december so same same I guess.

Lets to make this argument more apples to apples, measure the prices for Germany (Because Razor Blade Stealth is only sold in Germany, France and UK in Europe).

Razor Blade Stealth maxed out : 2.199,99€
Macbook Pro 13 inch w/o touch bar maxed out (Your mentioned specs) : 3019,00€

NO. See first point, compare what is comparable.
The only thing correct in your post is that the Blade Stealth received a price bump (that I wasn't aware, I was still at 2000 euros).
Oh, so the difference is ONLY 1630 euros ?! Fantastic !

Why ? Why not add the price of an extra charger to Razor Blade stealth, i get 1 extra extension cord, so lets add 25 euro in price of Macbook Pro
...What ? If anything, I'd add 50 euros to the price of the stealth blade for the charger. We're at only 1580 euros difference ! Woohoo champagne !

one gigabit ethernet adapter- Does not count, since you need that with Razor Blade Stealth as well
Literally saw a usb 3.1 to ethernet for 10 euros in Paris. But ok let's say 15Euros for the adapter for my Blade.

one TB3 to lightning - 25 Euro
Tb3 - HDMI - 59 Euro (this includes a USB A so you dont need that separately )

What the HELL are you talking about ? I don't need those with the Blade, that's the point !!

And with the rest of your post, clearly you didn't understand I need the HDMI adapters in double (one for work, one for home). They cost 729 NOK each. ****** adaptor BTW, doesn't do 4k at 60Hz, ****ing ridiculous.
And yeah it's bought by my company so it was bought on the Apple Store.

So ok, it's not 1830 euros less expensive, it's 1565 Euros less expensive !
And I don't look like an ass with all my adapters. And I have a better screen. And a better processor.
And if I want I could add a monstruous graphic card to either play at max settings, or perform intensive video editing, and STILL SAVE 365 euros.

there is majority of the posts complaining about the PORTS !
Yes, because people use their laptops for work and those ports for many people are an integral component to get their job done. So I'm sure you can understand that its just about the ports per say but rather about people's ability to earn a living or get a task completed.

Those people who actually needed a new machine seem to be happy with their purchase, while those who did not need it or do not intend to buy it are complaining non stop
Or it could be that the people complaining did not buy the Mac because it did not meet the needs. So the folks who bought the Macs have astutely vetted out their needs (I would hope) and are now waiting for their new computers to arrive.

One size does not fit all, but its clear, apple really screwed up on a number of fronts and the Apple's most loyal and ardent followers are upset.

. It's about the whole package and that goes way beyond what some spec list has on it.

No, it's about MacOS :) Only reason I stayed with them this time again, and also because my work paid for it (I would have switched right away if they weren't).

No one would have ever bought those machines if they were windows based. No. One.

I would buy it even if it was Windows, honestly. There's not another laptop made that's better to me.

Ditto. Linux just doesn't cut it yet on the desktop when directly compared to MacOS. Although, I just tried Linux Mint 18 Mate and I have to say they have come a long ways in recent years.

... Why ?? Even with the past iteration (which I'm typing on) you pay so much more and for so much less, have zero choices (Don't like glassy ? Sucks to be you !). There are so many machines which were better, and less expensive.
Well apart for the trackpad, which might be the only actual "magic" accessory :D because clearly the competition doesn't come close. And the magsafe of course.

On this iteration I find it even more crazy. I think it would be a total flop at those prices ( again, if it were to run Windows). Please tell me why !

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I should have another look at the Linux world now and then maybe go for a Dual Boot Win/ Linux for my next machine. Ubuntu or Mint.
The last time I did so ( 2009 I think ) Ubuntu , which I was told was "great" by my colleagues, wasn't very good really.
Driver issues and ... I don't know, not the same feel. A lot uglier, too.

WELL THEN COMPARE PRICES WHEN YOU GET RAZOR BLADE STEALTH IN DENMARK. You cannot compare price of one product in NOK and the other in Euro, when its quite clear the prices in NOK are higher even when converted to Euro, its like i take Razor's prices in Euro and then compare them against Apple's prices from US converted to Euro

And, btw the Razor Blade stealth's CPU has a TDP of 15 W so its better to compare it with the CPU of w/o touch bar that comes with the 15 W TDP U series laptop,
The One with touchbar comes with a 28W processor

Well it's fairly simple... I don't think anyone builds a better laptop than Apple and provided I can afford it, that's what I'm going to want. I don't even think anyone really comes close, IMO.

I don't care about some crazy fast GPU in a laptop if I get **** battery life as a result. I want build quality, I want reliability, I want premium materials and a quality trackpad and keyboard and I want it in a thin and light package. Other PC makers can check off some of those boxes, but I haven't found one that makes a machine as balanced, yet powerful, as Apple. If I wanted something purely for top specs I'd build a desktop instead of compromising with some mobile workstation that really needs to be chained to an outlet to be most effective.

These are just my needs and wants, I realize we're all different :) But all of the above is why I'd still go with a MBP if it was competing in a Windows-only world.

I realize we're all different
HELL NO, How dare you think like that, this is the internet, where everyone should think like you, if not, they are just wrong !!!! o_Oo_O

Ok if i fail my classes it will be due to the fact i spend too much time on this forum now :p

First : take your Xanax, whisky, or whatever it is you need to calm down.

Second
: Learn to read when you answer a post. I told you the kroner was weak, which means the price of the mac is even LESS euros. As in, its price should be even higher, above the 4000 Euros mark. I played nice and gave you recent conversion rates in DEFAVOR of the comparison I was making. Weaker kroner == less euros in conversion. Make an effort for Christ's sake.

Third : You could have googled easily the parity in price between pc prices elsewhere in Europe, and Norway; before your senseless tantrum. Check on Dell, HP etc. Difference between prices in euros in say, France and NOK -> euros in Norway is between 0 and 100 euros depending on the brands. For instance 70 euros difference between a surface pro 4 in France, and here in Norway.
I don't have to wait for the blade, you or anyone to assume the price of the Blade won't be 1600 euros more than it is. Jesus ...

Fourth: You talk about whining but I don't exactly see you doing anything else than this here, apart from raging on things you don't want to accept, and throw a tantrum as a result.

No. What the hell are you talking about. You're trying too hard and talk nonsense.STOP.
Razor's blade has indeed a much lower TDP (good for battery life), that's one more reason it's BETTER than the best of the Skylake you can get for this generation (the maxed out I ordered).
Let me repeat that in terms you might process : Stealth Blade's Kaby Lake is faster, use less energy, has better graphic capabilities.
I'm just mean and lying ? Here you go:

There is a reason why people here were whining about getting ****ing Skylakes in this Mac generation...

EDIT : And because I'm a good fellow, I'll add one benchmark where the Kaby Lake loses vs the Skylake : PassMark - CPU Mark. Difference of 100 points, or 2.5%. LOL

But that's just the thing.

Now everyone will have FOUR ports, and each one of those four ports can each a charging port. Or it could be a USB port. Or a Thunderbolt port. Or a Displayport port. The user gets to decide what each port will be used for. That's a whole lot of real-world usability, IMO ... more than what people have today.

Nobody's ever had a retina MacBook Pro with 4 USB ports before.
.. or 4 Thunderbolt ports
.. or 3 USB ports + 1 Thunderbolt port .. or vice-versa .. mix and match away
.. or the ability to charge it (or use a TB device) from the right-side (if the cable runs better that way)

... but they do now.

Why did you buy the new Macbook Pro if the new hardware isn't any faster and you only use it for MacOS? Even if it is your company shelling out the cash? You clearly are not happy with Apple's decisions this release, so why even buy it?

What about the igpu though?....

I agree. There is way too much negativity here. I love researching products both before and after a purchase, especially expensive things like a Mac. But the massive negativity here removes much of the joy in doing that.
It also removes the usefulness of reviewing a site like this because it becomes a pile on more than a trade off to be had. There is never just one right answer. In engineering it is always about weighing the trade-offs.

I'll try to keep it short : can't use personal mbp for too long (machines have to be formatted for VPN etc), and most importantly I just started there (a bit less than a month ago) and this would hit my productivity big time : I'm a developer, I'd have to relearn most of the things I know and use new softwares. I'd say 2 to 3 months to get up to speed on either Windows or Linux.
But I'm planning to work more and more on linux so I can switch next time.

What about the igpu though?....
It's better I think ? it can encode x265 why the skylake can't. On the cinebench on the link posted above it seems to be doing slightly better ?

The launch could have been better on Apples part. It was delayed far too long, the price hike was steeper than expected and the reveal event lacked the usual enthusiasm that we expect from product reveals (especially for a major redesign like this). However, I have to agree that the wining and complaining is getting a little out of hand, mainly for one reason:

People are complaining about a device that hasn't hit stores yet. We have no reviews, the stores have no demo units and we've seen no benchmarks so I really don't understand all the hate for the Touchbar models. As for the ports, I think by this time next year, support for TB3 will probably be much, MUCH higher than it is now and we might be happy that Apple gave us 4 of them. Also, we saw the leaked chassis of the new MBP back in the summer, so we've known for months that we would be stuck with 4 TB3 ports, it's not new info.

This reminds me of when Toyota first revealed specs for the GT86 (also Scion FRS and Subaru BRZ). People scoffed at a sports car with only 200hp, no Turbo, no V6 option. "How could something that underpowered be fun", they asked. However, that car ended up being "Car of the Year" in many Auto magazines. What it lacked in power, it made up in handling.

Of course laptops are much different than sports cars but the moral of the story is: Don't base your judgment wholly on whats on paper, get behind the wheel first (or keyboard in this case). At the very least, wait for the reviews to come in before totally writing of these new MBPs.

So why not wait till next year to buy an even more upgraded MBP? I know people say they want their machines for 4-5 years, but Apple products retain their value like crazy so really the most sensible thing is to buy a refurbished or used model from last year, and upgrade next year if needed. I highly doubt we will be screaming for USB by next year though, it will take longer.
