Is it me or does the space bar on that picture look bent? Also the arrow keys look off.
Just the picture of defect?
I'd love to see some benchmarks so we can compare the speed difference made by DDR2 vs DDR3.
Also someone mentioned that they thought the edges were smoother than the old ones, anyone have both an old and new so they can compare them to see if apple has updated the casing?

I've got the swapped new white macbook on wednesday. This is my first mac machine in my 24 years of life with IT & Telecommunications.
Already started loving the boot-up speed as seen with x-nix machines. Straight out the box I've applied macmate invisible shield & Radtech sleeve to carry around inside Tamrac Camera / Laptop backpack (Overkill?

I love the gloss finish, if they are delivered in perfection without a single hairline scratch. But both the macbooks ha(d/s) minor marks on the body, I'd say they are not made (or assembled) with high care. I've several piano black / gloss finish gadgets including this and maintaining without any scratches.
I've installed iphone SDK, garageband piano tutorials & Logic studio. I've noticed the booting speed is slightly slower now. Also the delete key (backspace) seem to be slower.
Looks like I need to spend more ££ on 7200 RPM HDD & 4 GB RAM

I am very curious to know if FCS2 will run on this as well, in which case I will be placing my order straight away!
I bought online, on the phone as i type this. He's talking with a manger to make an expection for my case.
They will take it back, was wondering why I waited so long, I told them i just heard about the new Mac yesterday. I must pay the restocking fee. The reason being it's way over 30 days, if i was within 30 days, an expection would have been made. I bought it Dec.15th.
you got really lucky they were willing to do that. it has been a good amount of time since you bought it.
I'm at the San Francisco downtown store right now and I can report that both display models of the new White Macbook have seriously crooked keyboards. If you guys thought the crooked keys were bad on unibody MBs and MBPs, you're in for a bad surprise. I'm not sure what's going on but something tells me that the construction quality isn't as good as the Black Macbook I used to have. Again, the keys are SERIOUSLY crooked.

First post. Except for an iPhone 3G, never owned anything by Apple, but seriously considering the new white, Nvidia Macbook. Couple of quick questions:
How is the capture/editing performance of iMovie. Have a Sony DV camera. Seems to take eternity to capture and edit using both Ubuntu and Windows (using Pinnacle)?
Will it run Final Cut Express?
Planning to upgrade to 4GB and a 360GB 7200RPM drive. Comments? Worth it?
How's the quality of the videocam?

I think it's just the picture and the angle I took it at.
Edit: I pulled it out and looked it over. It looks like the space bar is contoured in the middle, but not bent. I like it that way since it's the on the bottom row and is so close to the touchpad. No keys are crooked.
when exactly did this new one come out? i bought a white macbook this past sunday, but i didnt do my research. im not at home to check and see the specs on my macbook, but i paid $999.
It came out last Wednesday, January 21st.
I don't know if stores had it in stock by Sunday. I called the Apple store about 70 miles from here on Monday to ask if they had any and they did. I drove down and picked mine up yesterday.
About $10 in gas and instant gratification sure beats ordering online and waiting a week or longer or ordering online and paying a lot more than $10 for overnight shipping when it's overnight from when it ships, not the day you order.
if you bought it from a best buy then its likely an old model with the crappy graphics.
ok so im home and i got the older model, is it possible for me to take it back and get the new one for same price? is it worth the trouble? is it THAT big of a difference?

Yes it's a huge difference. Take it back or you'll regret it in the future, trust me.
To answer your three questions: Yes! Yes! Yes!
Don't let Apple get away with selling you an older model for the same price. That is horrible! Why do so many people allow Apple to blatantly rip them off?
If they've sold you the old model at the same price as the new updated one, that's a bit naughty of them, especially as the new one has been out for a week or whatever. (MacBook was updated Jan 21st) I hope it was just an honest mistake on their part. You should definitely take it back and ask for the new one.
Anyone who has a new whitebook, can you post the part number? (the ML#####A/B number)
At least that way, we can all be sure we get new ones as well.

Have a look at post 27 on page 2, it contains a link to the posters new MacBook and unboxing, The upgraded spec's are clearly shown on the box..
I also did the same thing, got the old one last week but called them up and politely asked for exchange. But due the difference in value, they advised me to return the old one and order the new one.
All went well and they confirmed yesterday that I'll get the money refunded next week.
