Yes you should. The number of replacements/returns they got would serve as a feedback to their engineer department to make them acknowledge the problem and to rectify it. Your silence and acceptance of flaws will just allow the qc to slide even further. I say return it and get a new one.

This is what a lot of people should understand and just because they got lucky with the screen lottery does not give them a right to be an a$$.

Man you people that keep returning your iPads really have no lives. 4, 5, 6 or even 7 times you look for something that isn’t there.

So what's the problem? Their devices have very high resale value so taking it in, changing components that cost them $30 cumulatively (front & back panel, possibly battery) and sell them at 86% of RRP results in very little loss of gross margin. And in doing so, Apple is able to create a brand value that allows them to sell their hardware at twice the price of their competitors. How much would that cost in advertising & PR? In financial analysis of the company's income statement, it's a cost the simply moves from SG&A costs to COGS. Net-net, it's profit. Live and let live man. Apple seem to know what they are doing if you judge by their market capitalisation.

PS. This is my 500th post. Surely deserves some up votes

Yup I just got a new one cause of a clump of stuck pixels....very noticeable pink hue on half of it...annoying

The whole idea of a forum is for people to discuss their issues/problems/experiences. We should be allowed to have our inputs here. Who cares about what the fanboys think. I have been a lurker here for quite a while, finally decided to register today to share my side of story.

Well - given you opinion - fan boys are allowed to state their opinions / experiences also - even if you don't like them

I have now been through 5 iPad 3s.

The first had a nasty pink/green color shift diagonally through the screen.

The first replacement was equally bad, with the pink/green cast in the opposite corners.

The 2nd replacement was not quite as discolored, but still had some discoloration...mostly pink. It also had a 2 inch wide vertical strip of darkness along the entire left edge of the screen, making it look dull and dingy. On top of this, it had 3 x .5" gaps in the backlight seal when viewed at a low angle on 1 end of the screen, and another patch of the same leak on the other end of the screen. This did not effect the viewing area, but I'm sure it would have effected resale value if it was noticed.

I returned it today and got the 3rd replacement, this time with a lighter but still noticeable pink/green/cyan cast, again diagonally through the screen, but not as pronounced. It also gets notably hotter than my other 3. It also has a small spot of backlight leak under the bezel edge.

I checked out my boss's new iPad. His, ordered direct from Apple, showed a warmer color overall than mine, less pink/green (though pink/green was still visible.)

I also checked out a co-worker's new iPad. His looked like a variation of all of the ones I've seen...a light pink/green cast diagonally through the screen.

After reading some anecdotes here about "perfect" iPads bought at Best Buy, and factoring in that 3 of mine have all come from the same Apple store, I decided to play the screen lottery at a new store, and buy one from Best Buy.

5 minutes later, I was in the return line, with a pink/green cast screen AND a glaring nasty gap in the backlight seal under the bezel.

So far, I have yet to see a single perfect white, evenly lit New iPad anywhere.

Here's the breakdown...

3 iPads order from Apple, received on launch day (mine and 2 co-worker's)...all with pinkish/greenish discoloration, mine was the worst.

3 replacements from one specific Apple store...all with pinkish/greenish discoloration, 2 with backlight seal gaps.

1 from Best Buy...pinkish/greenish discoloration and a nasty backlight seal gap.

Granted this is a very small sampling of iPads, but they come from a variety of places. Either I'm very unlucky, or a lot more iPads have this issue than people are aware of. I'd be willing to bet most people don't have sophisticated enough vision to discern the problem, including those here who claim to have "perfect" iPads.

I'm very close to returning mine for once and for all until another manufacturer starts making these screens in quantity.

Good news

Returned my second unit with uneven screen tinting and overheating issues today for a third try (white 64g LTE VZW). This one is better. People would probably say it's got an overall pink tint but it looks so much better and uniform that I find it acceptable. It does have some light bleed but just about like my iPad 2 and I can certainly live with it. I will run it at full brightness overnight for the next two nights to try and brighten it up a bit as this worked with the second unit. When run on full brightness, it gets somewhat warm but certainly never hot like the second one. So no, I am NOT OCD and perfectly pleased to find a unit with an acceptable screen. Keep trying - there are decent units out there. This one is week 5, Foxconn BTW.;:D. I feel so relieved.

Also wanted to note that when I went in and was approached by an Apple dude, he immediately moved me toward the back of the store like he didn't want to advertise the situation to bystanders. He and another employee did not seem surprised at the problems I described.

I don't have any display problems. I've heard so many people on this forum having one so I inspected the **** out of my iPad and couldn't find anything wrong with the display.

Success!!!

I returned my uneven screen today at the Summit Apple Store. They had only one unit of my size left. Luckily, it's absolutely perfect. I even think it's brighter than my other unit. Glad my ordeal is over.

My 4th iPad. Green on the right side. Green/Pink/White on the left side. Yellow on the bottom. What do you guys think?

I don't think there is a perfect screen tbh. I've sampled a few and they all seem to suffer in some way. Maybe it's the effect of having such new technology produced in such quantities ?

There is no question in my mind that there is a screen issue here. I don't consider myself particularly OCD, having lived through plenty of imperfections in my prior iPhones and iPads that would drive others crazy. But, there is definitely a pinkish/greenish tint on my otherwise perfect screen that is very distracting for those of us who do a lot of reading, either in ebooks or web pages.

I plan on waiting until the other two manufacturers come on board in a few months and then trying for a replacement. I'm also going to try and "break-in" my screen by running it on max brightness continuously. Sounds like this has worked for some on this board.

Wirelessly posted

Sure enough I'm despising fanboy like u who call others ocd. Have I denied that before? How did I contradict myself in that way? Lol

I think for some of the users that are experiencing issues with having to return the device multiple times should just straight out say this to the apple employee:

"I've come back X times to get a normal model with a good screen. When I return this model and I get my new one, could you please pull up a completely white picture and see if the screen has a dead pixel, multi-color bleeding, etc. If that model does can we continue this process until I get one that does not have screen issues?"

Problem hopefully solved, although it might take some time.

My work has bought 20, exchanged 5 of them, of which 4 had to be returned again. It's gonna happen when you have to crank out tablets in the millions.

I'm on number 5 now - number 4 had a perfect screen but a dead pixel cluster. This one I now have has a perfect screen if a little warm with a tiny spec of something near the edge. So I'm keeping this one. Once it has a few bits of chocolate muffin on it I'll not be able to tell the difference!

Still it sucks a bit overall - I don't think :apple: have got the manufacturing process sorted yet.

:D::D

I seriously hope someone from Apple is reading this and will do something about it!
