two finger tap will work as a right click for trackpad.. but if you are using a computer at a school lab with a single button mouse --> control + click

I hate that you have to purchase extra software just to get a basic word processing program so you can type a letter to a friend. They use to preload appleworks (was that the name? Its been so long) for free on even the least expensive models.
Sometimes I want to stop something from loading and it refreshes the page instead.

The single mouse button on the laptops.
Just seems stubborn and outdated to me.
Ask me this before I got my MacBook Pro and I would have agreed with you. However, now that I've had my MacBook Pro for over a year now, I have to say that I actually prefer the large one trackpad button over a two button configuration. Just placing two fingers on the pad and clicking the button seems far more intuitive to me.
Now, on the desktop? I have to have a *real* two button mouse.

Here's something I want, and it might be a bit surprising, even blasphemous, but bear with me...
I want to be able to turn the dock off. Completely. Auto-hide won't cut it. No more dock until I decide to bring it back. Gone.
All apps would be launched with Quicksilver or something similar.
Then, I want to be able to make the minimize button hide the individual window, and then set up a hot corner to show me just hidden windows.
And there'd be a trash icon on the desktop.
This isn't something I want Apple to allow me to do in system preferences, because it would be confusing at best for new users. Rather, it would be done with, say, Onyx or some other system tweaking tool. I've thought about it a lot, and I think I know enough keyboard shortcuts and whatnot to be able to get along without it.
My reason for this is because it frequently gets in my way, and I don't like autohide. Example: If I'm doing something full screen in Photoshop, the dock looks out of place sitting on top of the gray background. And if I auto-hide it, I'll forget it's even there until I inadvertently pop it back up. It gets on my nerves.

Mouse accuracy FTW!![]()
The Mac comes with a really good word processor called "TextEdit", it offers full word processing capabilities and reads the new XML file format and the documents it creates can be formatted for MS Word. Guess what? It's free.
I think DragThing allows you to turn off the Dock and completely replace it with their application. Here's something I want, and it might be a bit surprising, even blasphemous, but bear with me...

You really can't wait 30 seconds to let the computer shutdown all the way??
This is an ebay problem and not safari!
The light is not that bright
...OSX should be installable on any computer instead of just the hardware that Apple chooses to sell...
Oh, please, text edit is like word pad in Windows, a cheap little utility to keep you afloat until you go out and buy yourself a real word processor.![]()
I think DragThing allows you to turn off the Dock and completely replace it with their application.
Also, I wish there was a way to not have to use Finder. I'd rather use Path Finder or ForkLift.
Text edit is one hell of a light weight program and you know it. try writing something in word pad then opening it later, yeah, that so does not work.
At work I can only use word pad to view text reports, modify them and oops. Then in class I use text edit to take notes and to works nicely.
You can not expect text edit to be a full blown word processor.
Whew another log on the fire...
Notepad > Textedit, because: I can paste any gunk into notepad, and I get ASCII text. A fair comparison of text program would be Wordpad ~= Textedit.
- When you shut down a notebook, you can't close the lid or it will go to sleep mid shut down.
- eBay never works properly with Safari!
