Huh?

I stand corrected;
I have no issue being corrected but some of you that may be a little more knowledgeable don't need to come across so arrogant.

How was that arrogant?

Do people assume that every browser is like IE unless told otherwise?

It asks you if you are sure if you want to open the application since it was downloaded off the internet (or something like that). It only asks you the first time. Some how that's suppose to help increase security. Obviously if a user downloads something and he/she wants to run it, they're going to click 'Yes'. Pretty pointless if you ask me. Reminds me of UAC in Vista.

I just took the plunge into Leopard and Im overall pleased, but sweet JESUS does that annoy me to no end!!!!!

I've notice a trend of messages lately. I've always had my software update in the background and today up pops a message asking me to "update and restart, ignore or show details" Ok Apple, that's an unnecessary step. Granted the old way of the Software Update window just bursting in while Im working was annoying, but I could do that manually or ignore.

This happens with the trash as well. Im aware you can turn it off, but good grief Apple, I don't need to double confirm EVERYTHING that I do.

Progress Bar time estimates unreliable

My peeve is that the time in the progress bar is unreliable. When repairing permissions it hangs at less than one minute, then a couple of minutes later it goes to 8 minutes for about 20 seconds, then speeds through until completion. In FCP the progress bar starts at 20 minutes, then incrementally goes up to 4 hours on a QT export, after 20 minutes. It's like it's guessing , then only at the end does it estimate correctly. What's the point. Might as well just have the progress bar with no time.

I totally agree with you about the progress bars not being accurate however these aren't really "Mac Features" to hate, Apple can easily fix this. I know, I know so why hasn't Apple fixed it?? Mystery. It's now better in Leopard then it was in Tiger. Dot Mac's progress bars were fixed in Leopard from Tiger.
Although your post is just as important as the next forum member if you are going to hate something about Macs I would say to voice your concerns about something permanent that's part of the system that Apple doesn't see as a problem like the ever popularly discussed "Green Button".

Please no one mention anymore about the green button, I was just making a point.

i actually prefer Apple's way of right clicking on the MacBooks as you dont have to move your thumb to the right in an awkward position to press the right click button. all you have to do is place two fingers on the trackpad which has a luxorious amount of space to accomadate this. also the OS X way is designed you dont have to right click as much as in windows. but for people who do want to right click there are ways to do tasks by right clicking.

if you havent already started using this feature i would suggest it. soon you never know what youd do without it.

I agree. I use Wintel machines all day at work and Macs at home. Once you get accustomed to using the two finger right-click you'll wish you could use it with Wintel machines.

Strange. The progress bars were always spot-on accurate for me in Tiger. Leopard broke them for my MacBook. Hopefully .3 will fix them.

What I hate about Macs are the users it brings like you that don't take the time to "look" and see what applications come built-in with the OS rather than show their ignorance. :p
The Mac comes with a really good word processor called "TextEdit", it offers full word processing capabilities and reads the new XML file format and the documents it creates can be formatted for MS Word. Guess what? It's free.

Ignorant? LMBO. I have been a mac user for about a decade now. "TEXTEDIT" is NOT a WORD PROCESSING PROGRAM. I cant do everything I need to do on it.

ONCE AGAIN they USE (as in not now, but back when) to give you a FREE wordprocessing program but now do not. They want to you pay for a bundle of programs to get one word processing program.

And I could give two turds about it "reading XML" becuase it isnt want "I" need it for, as I specificly stated I needed it for letters.

Just like Microsoft with Notepad and Word. TextEdit is tons better than notepad, but Apple is a company, and they want money. Don't feel like they are a personal friend who is screwing you over by making you buy a word processor.

Let me add that I absolutely HATE that you cannot make a complaint about a Mac without someone calling you a name. It is the most ridiculous aspect of owning a mac.

But this "isnt" about microsoft v mac. It was about what "I" hated about Macs.....which is they took away my FREE Appleworks. I type and print letters with pics inserted to print and mail to my friends. That is what "I" need out of it, if you do not need that then this post shouldnt ruffle your feathers.

And I never ever, evereverever felt Apple was my "personal friend". The only reason my post was inflammed was because I was called a name for daring to complain.

What I hate about my MacBook Pro: The lack of an accessory that will allow me to power the device in my car.
What I hate about Mac: The mac fanboys that flame people who like things done the windows way. Some things in windows are just better than what is done in Leopard.
Oh, and the mac fanboys who think Vista is terrible without actually trying Vista. I like Vista, it works perfectly on my MacBook Pro. It was really slow on my Dell Inspirion XPS Gen 2, but that was because the laptop was two years old when vista came out.

How come Option+Shift+Volume Up/Down F-key (F3 and F4 on my Macbook) lets you change the volume in tiny increments, but this is not the same for brightness? Even though there is an accurate brightness slider...

Well the thing is, somehow I doubt it ever was free. It was probably just included in the price of the computer. It went away, and the price of a new Mac is probably that much less. If you want it back, just pay the extra to have it preinstalled when you get your computer. I really doubt it was ever actually free before; they just didn't give you a choice about whether or not you got it, and hid from you that you ever paid for it.

This annoys me, too.

Its not much of a fault with Mac OS X but APPLE could include NTFS WRITE Support!

And its not about licenses or anything legal because Time Machine is fully capable on writing to NTFS!

I didn't know time machine could write to NTFS. Unless you mean writing to an NTFS drive over a network where the other computer actually handles all the NTFS calls.

Also there is a reason why apple might not want to include NTFS support. It isn't fully documented and what would happen if the apple driver, because it is using undocumented features, mistakenly wiped all your data beyond repair? Now imagine this multiplied by the thousands of users who have NTFS drives.

Not a pretty place for dillema to be in :)

The best PC to run Vista on is Mac FACT,anything else it's a turd and yes i have tried Vista,as a matter of fact im typing on a dell running Vista right now as im forced to use this crap OS at work

iTunes being number one

I hate that Apple are becoming so big and powerful. There was probably a day when Microsoft was innovative and cool. Are Apple going the same way as Microsoft??
