Weren't Apple's printers re-badged Canon's?
Stylewriters I & II probably were Canons, at least they took Canon ink cartridges. But Imagewriters definitely were Apple. And I'm pretty sure the Laserwriter was an Apple product, too.

Any USB keyboard works on the Mac, and Microsoft makes the best keyboards, for my tastes. The MS drivers for OS X have a feature to swap the Start and Alt keys functions, to place the Mac Alt/Option and Splat functions in the normal locations.what?
that sounds cool
but i dont get it...........you use a microsoft keyboard on a mac??
why??.............how
LOL @ the fanboys defending Mac's ...Embarrassing.
If we don't like something about Macs, that's our choice. Everyone has an opinion.
Get a grip ffs!
well I just checked the online store and it turns out you're right. it still doesnt change the fact that the mighty mouse is a worthless piece of crap and the key travel distance on the alu keyboards will give you RSI. have fun believing that a company can do no wrong though.
it's interesting to see the other side of the coin; normally I'm the one defending macs!
Personally, I think Macs are pretty cool! But, I've been raised on Windows, so Macs are slightly foreign to me...but, since they are so different for me, the programs and everything are so cool to use!!
Just thought I'd give my input!![]()
This comment is in the wrong thread, it should be here.
Sorry...just wanted to lighten the mood a bit. =[
- The low battery warning will pop up six or seven times before the battery dies - and needs to be CLICKED to go each time.
I quite like the way the plus button behaves, a I really hate the way windows does it. This is mostly all personal preference and the way Apple does it, and it will probably never change.
You really can't wait 30 seconds to let the computer shutdown all the way??
have not used leopard all that much but resizing a window it just that. You are resizing the whole thing. It would not be consistent to just make some of the window bigger.
This is an ebay problem and not safari!
The light is not that bright
So it seems people really HATE a lot of things about Macs then!
Also, I notice that the OP 'joefinan' has been banned - I wonder if that's because he dared to suggest that Macs aren't perfect and then - horror! - typed a list of things he didn't like!
My List:
- Safari doesn't work well on some websites.
- Software selection is low and most stuff you have to pay for (Software for Mac isn't cheap either... Halo for Mac is way more expensive then Windows Version).
- iChat has no MSN support. and Adium doesn't have Video Chat!
The startup sound ... Macs aren't novelties any more ... There's no reason to have that thing going off in a crowded lecture hall or conference room. Isn't the glowing apple enough?
How about this: Slow as molasses network browsing on Leopard. Am I missing something? It takes like 15 seconds to load up a folder on the network (it's instant on Vista). WTF?

Doesn't the chime mean the machine has passed a basic memory check? If there's no chime, it means you're in deep sh*t.

Mute, Disable or Quiet the Mac Startup Sound/Bong/Chime
I'm not yet a Mac user but I was also wondering this. I think I will disable it as soon as I get my MBP
Even if Apple should be knocked on that mouse and that keyboard, it's hardly enough to say all their peripherals "leave a lot to be desired."
As someone who is not a 12 year old fanboy, I still appreciate the original Apple mouse (better made than anything Microsoft put their name on), generation after generation of great printers (Imagewriter I was built like a tank, Laserwriter launched a revolution), and that's not even discussing "peripherals" like iPods and iPhones.

Have you actually read the article on the link ? It explain how to disable it.To be fair those are pretty silly workarounds. Why should I need to manually turn my sound off each time I switch off to get rid of it?
Though I suppose on the other hand a musical sounding chime is better than a DOS beep that PC's do instead.

I wish Apple would apply some of the creativeness it puts into its industrial design into actual usability and ergonomics. Push the limits with radical keyboards, etc.
