It's nothing major, but it'd be neat if I could move the apple menu to the bottom or the side of the screen instead of having it locked to the top. That's one of the only features windows has that I can't seem to find for mac. If doing this is a possibility, I'd like to know!

Wouldn't it be awkward to have the menu on the side of the screen? I could possibly understand the bottom, I wouldn't like it, but it might be possible. The sides, however, I couldn't even imagine using the menu like that, and there would be so much less space ...

PC virtue

I love MAC, but PC does a few (a few !!) things better :
1- resizing handles on all four window sides
2- copy and pasting files from one window to another
3- pathway bar to paste and send to others a direct link thru a LAN or WAN.
4- the right click!!! (ok I know we can press ctrl and click but how hard is it to add the freaking button)

And yeah about the green plus button!
Can't they give us the option to change how it behaves? Thus plus could mean 'adapt window to content' or 'fill screen' both have their advantages depending on the application you use (thank god Adobe softs have the 'F' shortcut to fill the screen !!!)

If you're using a laptop there's an option in the Trackpad area of system preferences that lets you do a right click, with 2 fingers on the trackpad and click.

Yup, or just using two fingers to tap the track pad, resulting in right click as well.

I actually prefer this method. More than likely you'll be using the left click the majority of the time. Why have a physical right mouse button if it's not needed, especially if it either takes space from the left button and has to be very small to not take up too much space.

You can right click. Both the standard Apple mouse and all Apple laptops allow you to right click (tap the trackpad with two fingers on a laptop). Sometimes you need to turn the right mouse button on in System Preferences for the mouse but it is definately available.

I miss this feature, too. It's also useful for pasting a path into an Open or Save dialog to quickly get to the desired location.

You can drag and drop the 'path' into another window if you want. You just need to grab the mini folder icon from the top-middle on the window you are working in and drop it some where. OSX might not do things the same way, but it usually has a way to do it :)

I think people who complain about right click take it for granted a little. I love right click as much as the next guy, but for people who are inexperienced at computing, multiple buttons on a mouse can be very daunting.

So do I use the left or the right button to make this work? Was it a double or single click? One button keeps it simple for those users who don't know their way around just yet.

I wish they would fix the compatibility problems with Blogger/Blogspot, specifically the fact that one cannot paste text into the rich text box, but can past it into the pain text box.

Good tip, I'll give it a try.

Your kind of post is what causes a lot of confusion and misconceptions about Macs. That's all BS what you wrote, I agree the MBP is expensive but Apple's customers aren't idiots, one extra USB and a 2" larger screen is ALL the difference from the cheaper Macbook???
Post real facts buddy.

We all know that Macs are tonnes better than PCs, but hating things about something is the way they get better. Here are some things that really bug me (and I hoped would not be present in 10.5).

- The low battery warning will pop up six or seven times before the battery dies - and needs to be CLICKED to go each time.

- The green 'plus' button in the top corner of windows is very inconsistent - can't it simply make the window as big as the screen?

- When you shut down a notebook, you can't close the lid or it will go to sleep mid shut down.

- When resizing a finder window, the coverflow gets bigger rather than the list of files getting longer (10.5).

- eBay never works properly with Safari!

- The sleep light cannot be disabled. I like not shutting down my Power Book but, in a dark bedroom, that light gets annoying.

If Macs were perfect, Steve Jobs would have retired, so what annoys you about Apple products? It's just a bit of fun...

Apple should integrate virtualization technology like VMware Fusion or Parallels into the OS. Or just buy fusion and take potential business users serious and others who need access to windows on the Mac for certain applications.

I think what bob2131 is talking about is the extra $300 over for the 17"MBP over the 15"MBP, which if I'm right means that;

As well as...
All what Apeture said is moot, and;

Only proves that HLdan's right about being confused, understandably, and his comments about BS, idiots and facts a product of that confusion.

As well as...

Dedicated graphics
More memory standard
Faster processor standard
Larger hard drive standard
Superdrive standard
Firewire 800
Illuminated keyboard
Full DVI out
ExpressCard slot
Aluminum casing
(plus what you said)
15.4'' screen with option to go matte

dude....both models = 4gb max RAM
hard drives = you can put whatever you want in.....i can put a 300+GB 7200 rpm drive into a macbook.......
processor = not much in it.....2.4ghx macbook compared to like 2.5ghz pro? lol ..........no diff at all to me.......
superdrive? macbook can have taht too.......

dvi oout and express card......not essential.......

No problem, obviously there was a misunderstanding however you stated very bland facts and you never stated that you were talking about the 15 and 17" MBP's. 2" bigger screen and hundreds of dollars more also describe the differences between the 13" Macbook and the 15" MBP. Generally the biggest argument people have about the notebook line is that MBP cost way more than the MB just to get dedicated GPU, most people say nothing between 15 and 17".
Apple is planning to come out with much lower cost notebooks, I can't wait but I don't think $300 is that big of a deal between the 15 and 17".

im just talking about macbook compared to macbook pro, especially the diff between macbook and 17" model......even the 15"
massive price diffference, not much in it to me.....top spec macbook can give the PRO a very good fight. macbook is better option pound for pound, value wise.

dedicated GPU? wahts GPU?

macs are cheaper in america compared to uk.......so its hurting us more over here in UK for mac buyers here.

GPU=graphics processing unit. three dee card. One of the reasons I hate peecees. For games, use a console. For productivity use a mac. For a waste of time use a pc. If you must play the 3d games on your mac, you are better off with a macbook pro than a macbook just as you are better off with an imac than a mac mini. The macbook and mini use integrated intel graphics (think cheap and slow). The macbook pro and the imac use either ati or nvidia graphics. Think medium to high end graphics for gaming. As for the cost in the UK, with the weak dollar buy one here and have it shipped.
