That Tim Burton ad went on forever and did nothing to sell the product. I imagine just as many people we sick of hearing about Unicorn whatever than were intrigued by Samsung's offerings.
So Apple should attack Samsung rather than advertise Apple products ?
I never liked the I'm a Mac ads, but they were cheeky and light whereas Samsungs are unplesent and pompous.
I was taking in general, the one about people waiting for the iPhone 5 and the blackberry one.
And yet they are still make billions and selling millions of phones. Most people don't need/want a whole new phone to learn every time they upgrade. There is a lot to be said about being consistent, people like consistent. There is a small group that feel Apple has to be complete new every year.
Are the things Apple need to work on, YES! Like the mail and calendar apps. There so many things they could be doing to make these apps better and easier to get things done. Even those I have no issues, I know there is still some work that need to happened with maps to make the good. And as much as I don't think iPhone needs widgets, I could see them being useful on the iPad...
HAHAHA I can't WAIT to see what you have to say about Samsungs 'innovative' S4. Can't wait I tell ya!
Now that Android is grown up, you will see fewer and fewer "awesome" things from them. I would argue you can only make a phone so big, and it can only do so much before you are only adding minor features and only a few people will care about...
HAHAHA I can't WAIT to see what you have to say about Samsungs 'innovative' S4. Can't wait I tell ya!
But now... Apple needs to do more. From a UI standpoint they haven't made many huge changes since the original iPhone. The interface is still the same... a touch-screen version of some other smart phone UI's from that era. Icons that you can't just place anywhere... no movement on the screen... other neat things the Android allows apps to do.
Yeah, because Apple has never done that.
"Hi, I'm a Mac."
So bottom line in your view:
It's fine for Apple to bash competitors as you feel its lighthearted.
But when Samsung shows a generic queue outside a shop of people waiting for a phone to be released, thats taking it too far?
Do you have any idea how hypocritical that sounds?
It is ok to dislike ads by both companies you know. The Mac Gods aren't going to come down and smite you for not liking something Apple have done.![]()
Small group? Really? Do you think 25% slide in stock price is small group?
If such a small group wanted different device, how come apple stock is down 25%? I didn't know small group can make such a big dent. Obviously apple disappoints. In a big way. People like consistency. But doing samething for almost 3 years is not consistency. If people liked consistency so much, iphone 4 would not have sold so much. People need change. People want change. And clearly, apple is doing NOTHING. You will see. IF apple come out w/ iphone 5s, what a DUD their stock is going to become.

Yeah, it will be better than iphone 5s. That's for sure.
Samsung wishes they had people standing in line all night waiting to be the first to buy one of their phones. I believe that without a doubt.
I'm really confused by the Samsung Tim Burton ad. What is it advertising? The tablet is shown for just a few seconds. It doesn't tell me why their tablet is so great. All I recall is Tim Burton this, Tim Burton that, and something about unicorns.
Maybe I'm not a great test subject since it's pretty rare that I watch a commercial, but still, why does a stupid ad like this work at all?
Their stock prices has nothing to do with sales. Seeing how they had a recored breaking quarter once again...
That's easy to Answer. Decades before Samsung was a force in the smartphone market. They sat back observing the effectiveness of Apple's commercials bashing their competition.
Apple is losing on price, not on branding or advertising. If the iPhone cost as little as the GS 3, we wouldn't have this conversation.
Speaking as a 40-something, I find the hipsters on the Samsung commercial annoying. I hope the "Unicorn Apocalypse" claims them all.
No, they have to copy Apple's advertising style. "Hi, I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC."
