Presuming you already have an overpriced iPhone, an overpriced Apple Watch, and overpriced AirPods, the possible $50-$100 premium for this product would be your red line?

I don't consider the iPhone or the AW overpriced. If you do that's cool.

I stated the prices and if I would buy it at those prices. That's me, to someone else they might see value in it at $300...

Close to what I was thinking. I was thinking $159.
[doublepost=1520991705][/doublepost]I’m actually gonna pick up a few of these. One for the bedroom and living room.

Does anyone know if this can charge 2 iPhones at the same time?

You really think people who have a iPhone X and a new Apple watch care about money or the difference between 100 and 200 dollars?
No, we don’t. Let them eat cake.
[doublepost=1520992836][/doublepost]
If the price point is around $200, I can’t justify the price point for a wireless charger for an iPhone X or 8 unless someone has the Series 3 Apple and the wireless Airpod charging battery case . That’s honestly to high for a wireless charging unit.
Nope. Convenience is a big factor.
[doublepost=1520992998][/doublepost]
Yes!

I have an X and an AW and there is no way I'd pay $200 for a charging pad.. I am sure some will but my guess is there won't be many buyers at that price.
I will be one that’ll buy one. Then again, I find Apple products to be better than most.

Well, it’s another overdue product that was announced nearly 6 months ago. Just like the twice-delayed HomePod and numerous iOS 11 features that we saw in the 11.0 beta, but are still waiting on 11.3 to drop. We’re used to the good old days of Steve Jobs, where when Apple announced a ship date, it was the date. “Real artists ship,” right?

For me, I’m just tired of waiting for some kind of event announcement so I know MacBook Pro updates are finally close. It feels like Apple Watch S3 has been out for a while and is due for an update, but when I check the Buyers’ Guide I guess it really isn’t quite yet.

Either way, I’m ready to plunk down cash for new Apple stuff. Just waiting on Apple now.
The HomePod is shipping, in case you hadn’t noticed.

I’m afraid moreso that this is exactly what’s going to happen. WWDC is supposed to be a developer conference, not a showcase for consumer product announcements.

I really wish Apple would make the product announcements now or in April, and reserve WWDC for its intended purpose.
Why?
[doublepost=1520993566][/doublepost]
I bought two cheapo mats for about $9.00 each, I love them so much and more importantly so does my wife. ;)
Man, just think of how
It's really not. 3 chargers + cables from Apple cost about 90 dollars, a cheap charging mat (according to you) is 25 dollars times 3 = 75 dollars. But somehow someway a charging mat that can charge 3 devices should cost 50 dollars (which is what an actual decent charging mat costs right now) o_O.

I for one don't want to trade security for cheap electronic work, seen the dangers of that enough in my work.
agreed. I’ve had many reputable third party chargers and cables faile on me.
[doublepost=1520993713][/doublepost]
At $200?> NO!

At $149?> NO!

At $99?> Maybe!

At $79?> Sure!

Pay me <> Send me three.

Charging mats are not 10 dollars, maybe from crappy Chinese outlets (but you shouldn't want those in your home), from brands like Belkin/RavPower/Anker it's more like 30 to 60 dollars.

So a triple pad (which this basically is) with new technology is never gonna be 50 dollars (be a bit realistic dude, for 50 dollars the whole world would buy it, because it would be incredibly cheap).

100-150 dollars would be a fair price, so knowing Apple it's gonna be 250, maybe 200 if they're feeling generous.
My Ravpower mat was $15.

The fact that I’d have to also buy a new case for my AirPods pushes this over the edge.... whats that gonna be? At least another 50? So 250ish for all this? I was looking forward to it but i changed my mind... as much as i hate cords that’s just too much.
Just buy the mat. Add accessories later. Life’s good.
[doublepost=1520993857][/doublepost]
Well.. we still have the $79 Apple Watch 'Pillow' so I'm betting they are going to shoot for 'more than I want to spend.'
... and then buy it anyway lol
[doublepost=1520993940][/doublepost]
Should be $49 as it's only a mat with a cable, highly doubt it since they want to market charging 3 devices at once.
Yes, and a car is only a metal shell with some tires, so $2000?
[doublepost=1520994033][/doublepost]
I have these in my nightstand and office desk and I am quite happy for what they do for 10$:

You should have waited :)

I think the price will kill the excitement and replace it with disbelief.
You must be joking.

For $200 it'd better charge:
  1. My watch while I'm wearing it,
  2. My iPhone while it's in my pocket,
  3. My AirPods while they're in my backpack.
If not, then what's the advantage?

One cord and no cancer from short wave electricity hitting your crotch and wrist?

Because I'd like to know what they are. At the $200 price some are speculating.

The main advantages to buying this specific wireless charger are going to be: charge 3 things to a max of 29w. None of them have to be in a sweet spot according to Apple. It will be pretty, and some people care about that. It will only be one cord as opposed to one for each phone or charger. It will charge a Series 3 Apple Watch and later down the road the AirPod Wireless Charges Case.

That’s it as far as I’m aware. Those are all the upsides that we know about.

Can it charge multiple phones if you don't have an apple watch/airpods? or just one of each type?

Its a bit of a strange one. I have a slow (5w) wireless charger on my bedside table alongside my apple watch charger. Slow is fine because its overnight. If this is faster charging, it'd be handy for the living room if you need to top up the battery during the day. Or in the office if your airpods are running low. But in those situations you wouldn't really need to be charging your watch?

Still curious to see how much it costs. If not too expensive (lol) and not too big, I might consider it for the bedside table just to consolidate things

My guess is the 29W is so it can charge up to three phones at 10w each. The watch and airpods would likely take way less juice but that doesn't mean the phone will get 20w. Maybe 15w at a stretch which would be on par with current fast chargers on android?

I’m totally content with my $15 - $20 wireless charging pads. I prefer the stands, as you can see your phone more easily while charging.

$100 - $200? When pigs fly.

Me too.
And if I want to charge more than one phone Ikea sells a pad for up to 3 devices for $50 or $60.
Currently I have a stand at office so I can look at notifications and a Belkin pad at home to charge my 8+ and my wife's 8. I spent less than $50 for both. Maybe I'll spend another $20 for a second pad at home, but no way I'm giving them $100 or more just to charge the iPhone and the Watch at the same time.

Yeah I believe it can charge any qi standard phones at same time

I've not bothered with wireless charging up until now because I really don't see much of a benefit. But this pad allowing me to charge all three things, that's an improvement for me. But $199? Surely it won't be that expensive? $99 seems more likely?

I think the attraction are to those who have multiple products; especially the phone & watch, and toss in the AirPods to boot.

Yeah, I’m interested.

Not gonna happen, iPhone in different color would have leaked by now, Macbook air would have had more leaks by now if there was a release imminent. iPhone SE2 has been shot down this morning by Ming cho chun (or whatever his name is). New model (instead of just different colors) apple bands wouldn't make sense without a new Apple watch. Airplay 2/stereo homepod not even in beta right now.

So probably just gonna be press releases about new iPad 2018, Airpower and Airpod charging case.

Does Apple do special events anymore btw? Can't really remember an event other than WWDC or iPhone in recent past.

In order you addressed:
  1. Possibly, but there were a lot of rumors last year about a blue model coming with the new models. With rumors of iPhone X sales beginning to drop off, Apple might want to revitalize sales a bit with a blue version that is even more exclusive.
  2. Macs don't have as many leaks these days—especially lower profile models. The latest rumors speculate WWDC, but I think Apple has shifted to mainly focusing on Pro-level Mac hardware for those events, which also includes the 5K iMac which is faster than a MacBook Pro even though it doesn't sport a Pro badge like the maxed out iMac Pro.
  3. SE is getting old. Apple likes to release it mid-cycle to avoid hurting sales on other models. Kuo's report didn't seem to have much to say from the supply chain side, which is where is strength lies, and looked more speculative based on his assumption that Apple can't handle developing this many iPhone models at once. I think that's a shaky position to take. Furthermore, what contacts he does have are mainly in China, but Apple's iPhone SE is now being made in India and the SE 2 is rumored to be produced there also, so it's a bit of a wild card.
  4. Apple loves releasing new watch bands all the time, and yeah, I was mainly talking about colors, but the new AirPower mat compatibility might require changes to existing bands such as Link Bracelet and Milanese Loop as it would be cumbersome to take them apart to use with AirPower every night.
  5. It was hidden in early betas of 11.3 and later removed. It's probably in a decent enough state to show off, but the question remains whether they actually need to. If HomePod sales are not great, you can bet that they'll want to show it off ASAP.
They didn't really do a special event last Spring, but they have had multiple special events per year for a long, long time. Last year was a bit of an anomaly, but we'll see if this is a trend. The main point of my post was that Apple has plenty that they could talk about if they felt an event warranted it.

That would be nice. I kind of get talking about Pro hardware, but it should be fairly limited to new stuff only like the modular Mac Pro with 5K Thunderbolt Display and not talking about small updates to the MacBook/Pro or iMac/Pro. A prime example was the iMac Pro last year, along with those eGPU boxes. Keep it at that, and keep it short.
[doublepost=1521037256][/doublepost]
Better ask someone to pinch you. You’re dreaming out loud. Just read another report that stated no new iPhones to be released this spring or even summer. And the new iPad will have an 11 inch screen.
Yeah but Kuo was speculating. The SE is made in India now and his supply chain sources are in China. As a matter of fact, from the article it seems like he wasn't even getting the rumors from his supply chain at all and just saying Apple doesn't have enough resources to make that many iPhone models.

The new iPad I'm talking about is the 9.7" model that Apple released last March and updates pretty regularly yearly. The new iPad Pro is rumored to be 11". There is a big difference there.

I buy a good many Apple products, update my phone yearly, that sort of thing... but I didn't buy a HomePod and I'll only buy this if the price is closer to 100 than 200. I'm still on the fence about the wireless case for the AirPods, in fact. Mine stay charged so long I'm just not worried about needing to put them on a wireless pad.
