This is the price we pay for going bezel-less (well, this and $1000). There are some things that you really can't get any simpler than just having a button/tactile surface for, but there's no space for one.
personally i wouldn't have minded a touch ID button on the rear of the phone.
This is a rather moot point with me and I believe a lot of other people as I use my Apple Watch about 90% of the time. It is much more convenient.
Or they could've figured out how to embed Touch ID under the screen. This is the price we pay for going bezel-less (well, this and $1000). There are some things that you really can't get any simpler than just having a button/tactile surface for, but there's no space for one.

they did actually figure it out. there is a patent but i guess they couldn't produce that many OLEDs with a build in touch IDAccording to reports, they tried. They're probably (almost) as disappointed that they didn't figure it out in time as we are.
Saying FaceID is a mistake because TouchID (probably) won't be available for you is not logical. The two features in question don't rely upon one another. Therefore, the new iPhone can work well with FaceID and not TouchID.Face ID is a mistake by Apple. Only because there is no option for Touch ID. Like I said before Touch ID will eventually make it to the OLED phones.

Even if you are correct about touch ID eventually making its way to the OLED Model, do you really think a company of the magnitude Apple is would make a mistake by releasing technology that they wouldn't have faith in?
