I think you've really nailed it. I played with the X for a few minutes today. Looked/felt impressive, but I wasn't as wowed as some folks have been. Played with an SE, too. That feel pretty good, too (I'm a big fan of one-handed usability). I recently took the tech21 case off of my iPhone 6S just to reposition a magnet I had in there for a car mount I bought. Using it without the case makes the phone feel so much more amazing. The thinness/lightness of it really stands out. And, yeah, that's true of iPhones all the way back to the 6.

But most of us can't use them without a case. They're far too fragile to use the way that Jony has the luxury of using them day in and day out. Jony doesn't need to use a case because if the phone slips out of his hand, he just makes a quick inter-office phone call and they give him a new one. He doesn't have to pay a dime for it (and even if he did, he's got enough millions in the bank that he probably wouldn't care too much).

But for 99% of the rest of the world, we have to worry about such things. So we pay an extra $200 for AppleCare. But that's still not enough, because if you drop it and shatter the screen, you still have to shell out more money for the repair. That said, I just took a look and see that it's only $29 for a screen repair. Maybe I'll try going naked (with AppleCare+) on my X just so I can experience it the way Jony does.

I still think that they should be looking to do more to make the phones more "grippy" so that "slippage" is less of an issue. As it is, it's almost like they intentionally design them to be dropped/fumbled easily.
Did you hold a 7+? I had one for a year Slippery as hell in comparison to the X.
I dont use cases. Haven't since iphone 4. I do agree that most everybody needs a case. I baby my phones and never had an issue. On average I drop my phones twice a year and its usually around the house on carpet.
Using the phone without a case especially the X is a much better experience than any phone ive had before. The glass is grippy with your hand. It is very slippery just laying on your clothes or any fabric but in a hand its really good grip wise.

All current flagship phones are bars of soap, glass or metal. I use a skin on my current phone because I don't want the bulk of the case and that has been overall a good compromise but I would love if manufacturers considered usability on phones more instead of how nice they look in marketing material.

I don't get the iPhone X praise. Aside from Face ID it literally does nothing that hasn't been done by many other phones already. It's just that iPhones have been several years behind in chassis design so I guess it feels like something new and magical to those who have not used anything but iPhones for the last few years.

I absolutely love my iPhone X silver. I still can't believe how gorgeous it actually is. Very premium build quality and looks fantastic.

iPhone 4/4S were the top of my list as far as iPhone designs go but iPhone X has beat it out.

There's no going back now my contract offers yearly device upgrade so we'll see what the next version of iPhone X offers. It can only get better from here 🙂

Glad everyone is in love with their phones. A phone. It's a phone used to call people, text, look at Facebook, etc... Does anyone have a life outside of owning a phone?

Don't spoil their fun. They're just learning what Android owners have been getting for years. 🙂

The build and feel, materials, shape, and appearance are stunning. It’s like a phone version of the stainless steel Apple Watch, except better.
Since I think the stainless AW already feels quite premium, even compared to my other watches (priced around the same or at least double what my AW was), I'm impressed by your remark.

I keep thinking I want the black iPhone X -- because, you know, macho-ness and other crap -- but I know it's not gonna sparkle like the silver X does, and I kinda want the bling this time.

Another ooh and ahh thread (Don’t read if your a hater)

I’ve owned many iPhones and the X is unreal. I keep staring at it because it doesn’t even seem real. Everything from the animation, the painting like screen, the gestures, that Taptic Engine, the tone change, that phenomenal full screen (especially viewing photos), and the damn absolute perfect premium quality of the device in my hand is blowing my mind. I’m usually able to take these devices for what they are and have my honeymoon phase end almost immediately after using it..but this one is special.

Anybody else not able to stop using/looking at this thing? 😱

Wow, you're really drinking the kool-aid. It's a phone..

Ahh the beauty of apple. Til September ‘18: ‘wow the iPhone X Plus is the best phone ever.’ ‘Wow the iPhone Xs Plus is the best phone ever!’ Lol it’s fun[/QUOTE said:
I would certainly hope so as this would mean that the phone improves significantly every year. I doubt I would ever get a plus model though as the X is at the limit of how big I would like my phone to be.

This is killing me. How are people going out and buying these things? EVERYWHERE is out of stock every day where I am. I’ve tried Best Buy, Target, all Verizon locations and my Apple store.

I actually was in the process of buying one through the Apple Store app the other day and by the time I finished putting in my info it told me it was no longer available. I called the store to ask what happened and the lady was like “yeah, that’s happening a lot.” Apparently if you’re in the middle of buying a phone and somebody walks in and asks for it it’ll take it out from under you.

I’ve still got a couple of weeks of my 30 day return window through Verizon so we’ll see what happens but I’m losing my motivation.

Order one at 6:00am EST from the Apple website. It will be reserved for you, they will not give it to someone else. Worked fine for me TWICE.

The X is definitely right there with the SS Apple Watch, IMO. I've got a Series 2 SS with a genuine link bracelet, so my standards are pretty high. The X looks and feels really, really nice. Even the glass over the display has a certain extra smooth, premium feel to it. And the SS band around the sides is as nice and shiny as my watch. Actually more than, since my watch has seen some wear and tear.

I love threads like this. Yes, the X is a nice device. But the OP is clearly star struck and apparently hasn't considered the dozens of posts about green lines on the screen, yellow and blue screen tint, the failure to work properly when exposed to colder temperature changes, even overheating issues using YouTube. I won't get into the mixed opinions over the notch. The phone is far, far from perfect. It has a lot of great technology but is so far from perfect that the 8 or 8+ has to be considered a great or better alternative when price is factored in.

I am not sure why OP needs to “consider” the “dozens of posts” when he or she is sharing their own subjective experiences. I have also not had any issues with my X; while for others it may not be perfect - for me in the context of the present and in my own experiences, it is.

I also don’t understand why you need to mention the 8 or 8+ when the OP did not mention the 8 or 8+ at all.

There are certain releases that seem like a 'leap' in the iPhone family.

The 4 literally blew everything out of the water. The competition was closing in and this was the one release where Apple jumped further out in front than anybody expected. It was also in the earlier days of MR where some of the features were a genuine surprise...

The 6 was a big jump. But looking back, it was finally just giving customers the big screens that everyone else had. Still, it was nice to have that much real estate with iOS.

X rivals the 4. It's a big jump. And some of the things I was skeptical about (no home button, Face ID) are fantastic. The old 6/7/8 model had gotten so stale that you wondered if Apple could do something 'different' well. This shows they still can.

If I had to pick nits, I still want a headphone jack. I held on to my 6s forever solely for the headphone jack. And it sucks that Apple charges for innovation...where in the past you got the new stuff at the same price. A $100 increase maybe...but this is a very expensive piece of hardware. To the point, I have adjusted my purchasing habits. I used to upgrade the family on a regular basis. I got myself an X. My wife, who doesn't really care about phones, still has her 6. My college age daughter and MIL have 6s (BOGO) and mom/HS soon have a 6. I don't see an X in any of their futures. Maybe the kids, but ONLY if they pay for the difference.

LOL. I mention the dozens of posts for that exact reason, because the OP has failed to. I also mention the 8/8+ for the same reason. Reasonable intelligence would require a person to consider the alternatives when claiming a product is the absolute best, and OP has failed to do so. As I said, the X is a great device technologically for Apple, but it is hardly in a category of "hard to seem real" given the myriad the problems being reported all over the internet. And there are very good alternatives out there. Sorry, but this isn't the second coming.

You must be fun at parties.

OP is just excited about their new device, and using some embellishment. He is not printing up advertisements here, he is just a member on an Internet forum. You seem to be the only one who has taken their statement as a statement of absolute truth. I am sure they realize it is at the end of a day: a phone.

Do you do this to everyone who is excited about anything new they have acquired?
