Nope, you can return for any reason.
But, realistically, every return costs Apple hundreds of dollars.

So will they really let you return five times in a row, wiping out the profit of the sale not only to you but perhaps five other customers who accepted their first iPhone?

Maybe they would, at least in the US. But I’m wondering how this is sustainable for them. There will be rule changes sooner rather than later if return rates described in this thread are at all common.

On the other hand, it’s absolutely ridiculous that Apple is silently using panels with completely different performance specs while pretending they’re all the same (same headline specs on the website). So I don’t have much sympathy for Apple here – don’t get me wrong.

The impression one might get by reading these forums is very misleading.
Even if there are 20 or 30 or even 100 people here in this froum, returning their iPhone 5, 10, 20 times - they make barely 0.01% of the total iPhone sales worldwide that go in the high millions.

The VAAAAAAST majority of buyers never returns a device.

I think Apple will be OK.

R

yes it does Question is do I return and take a chance, I don’t know if I’m being too nitpicky if your panel looked like this, would you exchange or just keep it?
They’re all like that to various degrees. Even my work 16e with the GVC panel from LG is like that. You’re gonna get stuck in a perpetual loop looking for something that does not really exist. Sure thing, you might end up with another one that exhibits it to a lesser degree, but you can also end up with another one that’s significantly worse.

This isn’t the case in the greater Seattle area. Tons of pros and pro maxes have released nearly every day at all of our apple stores. I picked one up a few days ago and at the time could’ve picked it up from any of the 3 stores closest to me, as well as the other 2 colors.
Lies. A few days ago is old news for PM stock.

Looks exactly like my g9n.
With true tone on it’s more noticable than off. Try to compare on the settings page of mail. I was better to look at it there imo than a blank page.
Yes I’ve done that and you an really see it on the mail page, so not sure why some people think that the Samsung panels are the best

That’s true but i can accept this

I bought 4 PM and 5 Airs in one go. Returned 3 PM and 4 Airs in one go. No questions asked. Never got banned.

Would you return? I checked and it’s a G9N
You may as well try. If the next one is worse you can just keep your current phone.
I’m not too sure I’m not sure if I’m overreacting or if it’s my OCD that’s why I wanted other’s opinions lol
You're not overreacting. This is from my limited experience an Apple problem. Over the last 12 months I've had a Galaxy S25U, Z Flip 7, Z Fold 7 (current), OnePlus 13, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Xiaomi 14 Ultra. How many of these had a bad screen? NONE OF THEM. I went through a few iPhone 16PM last year and this year three 17PM for screen uniformity and / or tint issue.

The only reasons Apple gets away with it are the butt-kissing influencers and "reviewers," oblivious mass consumers who don't care, and sheer production volume. The demand worldwide is far greater than any other devices and the only way to meet the demand is to allow more screens through the QC process. So naturally we're prone to see more bad screens.
This Apple give you a hard time if you want to return and exchange for a new one because of the screen?
They shouldn't and if they do just be polite and explain your reasons. Don't feel bad or guilty.

I saw a G9P base 17, there is no bottom green tint when tilting the top inwards
But when i tilt left right, the middle part has some green-yellow tinting.

Are you keeping yours or returning?
Not sure yet. I still have my GVC screen as well which had the green shift when tilting but head on it’s bit better than my G9N with the bit warmer upper part.
I only notice the difference in color temperature when I focus on it. Sometimes I forget it’s even there, just like with the GVC but then you are reminded of it and you see it again.
I have another PM ordered and that one comes 1 day before my return window so will have to decide then.

Others can confirm but I believe if you initiate a return now you get an extra 14 days within which to return it. I also believe you can cancel the return within that 14 days if you decide. May give you some extra breathing space.

I always return and rebuy. You don't want to be stuck in an endless exchange loop, that is when you're at the mercy of "geniuses" who will eventually say there's nothing wrong and prevent further exchanges.
Well unfortunately I bought mine with att, and they charge $50 for a restocking fee. Plus my return window is up. That’s why I was asking about express replacement

Gotcha. There's no guarantee the express replacement will be any better, but if you can request one and then keep whichever is better, that would be ideal? That way you're not screwed if you send off your current phone and the replacement is worse.

Correct even if you initiate the return request and you decide to keep it you can just leave it alone and after 14 days it will auto cancel the request.

If you get a express replacement sent out, it is not possible to change your mind and keep your old one instead.
I have tried it myself and Apple said that there is no way to cancel the process. I had to send back the old one or else they would’ve charged me full price for the replacement.
