Hey!

After reading almost all pages(ouch), it seems that there are good and bad panels for each manufacturer.

I’ve been using my iPhone 13-base for the last 4 years and, to me, it has the perfect screen (G9Q). Perfect colors, no green tint when tilting it, great resolution…

I recently bought iPhone 17 base. It had G9P panel and it was awful. Extremely pink tint in every angle, low resolution, it gave me headaches and tired eyes, so I sold it.
Bought my second iPhone 17 yesterday (GVC) and it’s almost perfect if I don’t tilt it. If I tilt it, even if only 20º… guess what? Yes, green tint. Not sure if it’s the worst green tint or not. Do you think I should return it?

I’m seriously thinking about keeping my iPhone 13. I’m so f tired of panel lottery.

Tbh to my eyes from the photos it actually looks like the 17 is more neutral and the 13 panel is tinted to the pink, so probably just what you've gotten used to?

That's how it looks to me too. The iPhone 13 has such an unnatural pinkish-white color scheme. It looks pretty much the same on my €80 Android phone.🤣

Oh lol! Looking at the pics again..It’s true that it seems to have a pink tint but I don’t see it in real life. Not sure if I’m used to it or it’s the quality of the photos. I’ll try to take more photos with a better device!

What panel settings did you use? And what ambient lighting?

I’m beginning to figure out (through this thread and my own anecdotal experience) that I personally prefer the overall calibration of Samsung’s G9Q panels more than the highly coveted G9N. And even then… I find LG’s panels typically still look a bit better when viewed directly, despite the more noticeable color shift (which DOES also exist on the Samsung panels) when viewed at an angle.

Though, of course, YMMV as there’s good and bad panels in every batch from both manufacturers.

If you have a samsung panel, hold onto it like your balls... Ive opened 8 PM 512s all very green tinted LG panels
I've now handled six PMs (blue/silver, 512GB) outside of the Apple Store. All had LG panels (GH3 or GVC). And all of them had color shifts when tilted in one direction or another. This was more pronounced on some than others. It was noticeable that all the GVC screens had a red tint, while the GH3s did not. However, all of them had a uniform screen when viewed "normally."

It's not worth playing the lottery if you happen to get a good LG panel. You're 99% likely to get worse. And even if you do happen to get a Samsung among 50 PMs, the chance of getting an uneven Samsung screen with a red tint is still not low.

I have an Air with a slight green tint off axis that I wasn't aware of until reading about it here. I also have a Mini 12 that I've had for 3 years that I use as a backup phone. This evening I tilted the Mini out of interest and it has a slight green tint off axis almost identical to my Air. If not for Macrumors I probably would have never noticed the green tint on the Air either. Actually I don't worry about it on the Air. Holding it in normal viewing position, it looks like a perfect white screen "to me".

That's the point. Most people don't even notice it. And that's okay, as long as it's not really bothersome.

Just found this article which I think is worth a read.

Yea, it's excessive and that's why we can't have good things. I really wish Apple could bring back the restock fee! I can understand exchanging it if there is a defect and all but why exchange a perfect screen even if it was LG just to get the Samsung screen. Ridiculous.

Someone please try the accessibiliy - color filter - tint - hue adjustment.

Give us some comments

I have been using it for weeks, and i am liking it.

It looks natural, i dont see any blown out colors, it seems to tune out the panel variances.

I mean I’m pretty sure for people who swap 10 units every year , they do get banned. I seriously doubt they don’t have their own internal processes to mitigate the heaviest hitters from costing them serious money

Apple isn’t a charity and they themselves are well aware

If it's not too much trouble, please show me your settings.

Has anyone already tried writing to Apple support regarding this screen issue?

Ok I tried it. I have an GVC with green tint when tilted any angle. I tried that color filter, took out the green with the slider which pushed more the blue and red color channels. First I thought wow, the greenish tint is gone nearly completely. Exciting. But when you do some more tests whether it is still an color accurate display e.g. taking a photo of a white paper sheet then the picture of that white paper had a red tint. So it is clearly unfortunately no more calibrated. 😥

I agree. Apple does and can ban customers for short period. A friend of mine got banned from buying and returns from the apple store.
