Getting off of iOS 12, finally upgrading from an iPhone 5s. Just don't care much about my phone but excited to see all new features I've missed out on over the decade + since this phone came out.
This is the most brilliant comment I have read in a long time. Absolutely love your attitude and have actually bought my 15Pro with the intention of holding on to it forever. So far, Apple is really making it easy.

Definitely call screening and hold assist.

For a few reasons, I can’t let unknown calls go completely unanswered, unfortunately, so I’m hoping call screening will be a happy medium.

And I’m on hold far too often!
Same with me. I haven't used the call screening in a real scenario (which is good because my phone is ringing less with spam). The hold assist is wonderful.

iOS 26 is coming in just three days, and it brings a new Liquid Glass design with translucent UI elements, rounded menu bars, simplified navigation, pop out menus, and more.

iOS-26-on-iPhone-Feature.jpg

Liquid Glass has been contentious during the beta testing period. Some people don't feel like there's enough translucency, and others think Apple has gone too far, impacting readability. Where do you fall on the spectrum? Let us know in the comments below.

The new design is the big iOS 26 talking point, but the update also has a bunch of new features, both big and small. Are you looking forward to screening your phone calls? Setting a custom snooze duration? Making Genmoji? Using Live Translation?

For a recap on all of the features that are coming next week, make sure to check out our iOS 26 roundup. We also have overviews of iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, both of which have some exciting new additions.

While they are at the cosmetic changes I really wish Apple would bring back the 3D dock. I hate the flat look.

Maybe its them FIXING THAT GOD DAMN CRIPPLING NOTES APP BUG WHERE IT TAKES CRAZY BIG AMOUNTS OF STORAGE ON YOUR DEVICE EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE IT FOR ICLOUD SYNCHED STORAGE!!!!

Call screening. Finally don't have to deal with robo calls anymore!
Yes. I currently have Hiya to screen calls and Junkman to screen text messages. If the Apple implementaton of call and text screening actually works that would be great. It will be interesting to see what third party screeners do if the iOS is really effective.

Genuinely interested as to what is fun and whimsy about it? I use my iPad daily and yet to find something “fun and whimsy” as opposed to how it was with iPadOS 18?
  • Bounce effects
  • Chromatic aberration on the glass icon selection
  • HDR bloom on button presses
  • Tap and Hold+Swipe to select (like click hold and select on macOS, I love the new Safari combo bar)
  • Spatial photos give a sense of being there.
  • Glass look that gets out of the way combined with no bottom home bar (which was complained about plenty over the years)
  • iPadOS 26 specific: actual windowing that’s well implemented and easy/quick to learn and looks great combined with more traditional mousing.
I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting but that’s just off the top of my head.

  • Call Screening
  • Hold Assist
  • Live translation
Oh, wait... none of these will work where I live.

Austria isn't listed as a country that gets these features, even though it has the same language as Germany and is also in the EU.

What am I waiting for? The basic ability to finally be able to move items with Option-X and Option-V. It's really frustrating not to have this, especially for a user coming from Windows. Even right-clicking on a file doesn't allow you to cut an item and paste it 😡
You have always been able to do this. It is just slightly different on a Mac.

In Windows you have to decide “at copy time” whether to cut or copy. For Mac you decide “at paste time” whether to copy or move.

So on a Mac you always copy with Command-C. You can then paste with Command-V or move with Option-Command-V. Or alternatively if you right click for the paste, when you press down the option key you will see the menu option change to “Move files”.

My brother is running the Beta, I’m not overly enamoured from what I’ve seen, but I’ve not really delved into it.

I hope, if theres a change to Photos, it’s not a mess like it was last year. I’ve finally gotten used to it-and am ‘ok’ with it. Looking forward to playing around with it, I how changes are purposeful not just for the sake of it.

I know the question is about iOS, but I’m going to answer as if the question asked about iPadOS :) :)

So what I most look forward to in iPad OS 26 is the Journal app! I have found that I do like the Journal app feature on the phone, but I do hate tapping away at long entries. I would love to be able to use my iPad to make entries and edits.
