I ordered mine within 24 hours of availability and haven't heard a thing about shipping.

The on-line store is saying "ships 2-3 weeks" now so we should finally start to get them later this month barring any last minute hitches.

There are no unboxing videos on youtube so I'm sure no ordinary punter as one yet.

All that is shown is the original 8-week estimate. The shipping times were quotes as 6-8 weeks when I ordered. I was hoping it would be more like six.

The display is out; my local Apple Reseller had two of them for sale; someone was buying one whilst i was there.

I was going to buy as well, but still do not have an apple thunderbolt mac (awaiting a trip to US next month to get the new Air)...they said they will have more in on Wednesday of this coming week as well.

Might be worth shopping around etc?

Oh, I wish you wouldn't have said that... The wife is working today and I was heading off to the Apple store anyway to look at a new Airport Extreme. Must...control...self...

Where do you live?

I'm waiting with baited breath for the Aberdeen AppleStore to get them in stock so I can invest my hard-earned cash.

As an update to the above - I've just come off the phone to the Aberdeen store who hope to have these in stock later this week.

I just hope it's right - I'm totally new to the Mac world, but I've been holding off investing on a new system until I can do it all in one go, i.e. MBP 15" i7/2.2Ghz/8Mb/750Gb/Anti-Glare; 27" TB display; 2Gb TC and various ancillaries (keyboard, mouse, trackpad etc.) as my current PC is in extremis. I've been surviving almost totally on my iPad 2 64Gb/3G for the past two months not that that is such a hardship, but I'll be glad to get back to something a tad more flexible.

Hello everyone! I apologize for my English is far from perfect ...
I'm new, I just bought a MBA and 13 completed.
I'm valutandoll'acquisto a monitor 27 'or 30' Apple or Dell and tell you my thoughts:
Thunderbolt from the display, there is no doubt thunderbolt, and the possibility of having a doskstation, useful for those who have a laptop, other than of the superior image quality (higher color gamut) provides a number of connections best (but unfortunately does not have the thunderbolt) ..
With a cost of $ 999 I would also have the option of being able to connect to the monitor, my ps3 to see the bluray or xbox to play, as well as to have a good monitor ... What do you think?

Could i just double check with everyone who is interested in this new thunderbolt display, does it come with 2 or just 1 thunderbolt port?

The specification does say 2 ports but as far as i can see from the pictures online, there seems to be only 1 thunderbolt port on the rear of the display.

And if i'm gonna be daisy-chaining the thunderbolt interface with other devices, does this display need to be at the end of the entire chain?

There is only one on the back.
The thunderbolt display has a magsafe connector which has one thunderbolt connector for your MBP or MBA, and the thunderbolt port on the back is for second thunderbolt display.

Thanks for the quick reply mate! I guess that also means the TB display doesn't need to be at the end of the chain then. :)

Sorry for the quick double post but could someone advice on the exact length of the mac-safe and thunderbolt connector.

I'm thinking of connecting the TB display to my mac-mini some distance away.

Thinking of going for one of these,I hope the OP doesn't mind me posting in here instead of starting a new thread.

Id like to share the display with my PC and thunderbolt equipped macbook air.

With my PC not having thunderbolt and only mini displayport will this monitor still work or does this monitor need thunderbolt to work?

Many thanks

thunderbolt ---> mini display = yes

mini display ---> thunderbolt = no

Your PC will not work with ATD :(

Curious, how would go about to connect 3 monitors(which is the ideal amount of monitors if you want to do any type of surround monitor-setup) to a Mac? Is this even possible out of the box? Or would you need one of those little boxes extender -type of thing to achieve this?
