Curious, how would go about to connect 3 monitors(which is the ideal amount of monitors if you want to do any type of surround monitor-setup) to a Mac? Is this even possible out of the box? Or would you need one of those little boxes extender -type of thing to achieve this?

With a Mac Pro you can add additional video cards to support multiple displays (most cards support two; some support three).

Of course, at this point, the Mac Pro doesn't have Thunderbolt so you'd have to use another display or the older 27" mini-DisplayPort Cinema display.

The newest iMacs and MacBook Pros (with TB) will support two displays plus the built-in one.

Edit: the mini and MacBook Air can support one external display plus the built-in one.

You can use one of the extender multi-display boxes, too, but I've not had any direct experience with them to know how good they are.

Hello everyone! I apologize for my English is far from perfect ...
I'm new, I just bought a MBA and 13 completed.
I'm valutandoll'acquisto a monitor 27 'or 30' Apple or Dell and tell you my thoughts:
Thunderbolt from the display, there is no doubt thunderbolt, and the possibility of having a doskstation, useful for those who have a laptop, other than of the superior image quality (higher color gamut) provides a number of connections best (but unfortunately does not have the thunderbolt) ..
With a cost of $ 999 I would also have the option of being able to connect to the monitor, my ps3 to see the bluray or xbox to play, as well as to have a good monitor ... What do you think?

The latest Thunderbolt ACD is a perfect match for MBA, IMHO. It'll give you ethernet, firewire, extra powered USB ports, and the MagSafe power cord for your convenience.

The only problem is, it's not compatible with any other computers, including old Mac's. So, basically you can only connect it to your new MBA.

Perhaps a mod could step in and edit the title? Even a question mark at the end, as someone above pointed out, would help.

Can the OP change the title of this thread? It is misleading.

Yeah I am trying to change it if it will let me. Anyone know of a straight-foward way to edit the title?

----------

Guys you should change the title to the thread. This has nothing to do with these shipping!

Originally this thread was to get info on if anyone had heard about the displays shipping and it still is...Some users wanted more info about the Thunderbolt Displays and posted on this thread and I don't see an issue with that.

Edit your original post, and then hit 'Go Advanced' and then you can edit the title as well as the post.

Thanks Abyssgh0st!

The requested "?" has been added to the title :)

anyone who ordered online has had his display shipped yet? Shouldn't we get our displays first instead of the stores?

It looks like they're making it almost simultaneous. Judging from reports on macrumors the stores will start selling them on Monday 12th, which is the earliest date that anyone that ordered on-line has claimed as their shipping date.

But yes people that pre-ordered and have been waiting ages should get them first

I've been calling my local store daily and as of a few hours ago it's still a no-show. Anyone else find any in stores?

Similarly hopeful for Aberdeen this week as I'm going to be in the area on Saturday and Monday and hope to pick one up then.

I've been calling daily as well and hearing any day now. Dropped by the Apple store today and talked to a manager and he said he didn't know. He will email me as soon as they come in.

There's a distinct lack of information here in the UK, my local AppleStore seems to be as poorly informed as I am.

im sure i read , maybe on here that online orders will start to ship on 15th, which is tommorow so fingers crossed

Also the Newcastle Eldon square store rep seemed pretty confident last saturday that they would have them on sale this week so they must be close

I've been getting differing stories - the girl in Aberdeen I spoke to today by phone seemed to know very little, whilst the guy I dealt with in the store last Saturday was of the opinion they'd be in this week. Here's hoping for Saturday or Monday.

I went to check my order status today and there was a slight change:

My original status was:
Ships: Sept 19
Delivers: Sept 20

My new status is:
Ships: Sept 19
Delivers: Sept 23

A little disappointed with the additional lead-time.

Hoping to pick one up if the Apple stores receive their shipments this week/weekend and cancel my online order.

it SHIPPED OUT!

For me, I ordered it and canceled it for few times. But from my last order on Sep 4, 2011, today (Sep 15, 2011), Apple just noticed that my monitor been shipped from Singapore and will arrive no longer than Sep 20, 2011.

From my experience, most of my order will shipped from Singapore and will arrive with in two days, so this case, my monitor should arrive around Saturday! WoW just can't wait!

I am in Bangkok, Thailand.

Status:
Place Order: September 4, 2011
Shipped: September 15, 2011
Deliverd: TBD

Placed an order on Aug. 19. And the order status just changed from "order processing" to "ready for shipping" (translation). WOW! Finally!

P.S. Order status changed to "shipped" :)
