for those of you that are receiving these displays soon.....could you please test plugging this into a normal mini display port (not-thunderbolt)? I'm very interested to see if the display portion works (without the "dock" functionality) or if the device will not work at all.

Please update us...not even Apple has a straight answer on this!

I placed two orders. The first on August 18 which shows "Ships: 2 - 4 Weeks Delivers Sep 9 - Sep 22 via Standard Shipping" and the second on August 31 which shows "Ships: Sep 22 Delivers Sep 28 via Standard Shipping"

I sent Apple an email asking why someone in NZ that ordered after me has had their's shipped already.

This is what I got back "Different parts of the world are provided stock by different manufacturers and different distribution centers. So the centers that stock the UK are not the same as those who stock New Zealand ".

Cool, now i need to decide if I will get it now or when I get back to miami. Transporting that thing will suck, compared housing i for about 2 months while out of town.

YES...apple does have a straight answer on this..

NO it doesn't work...

nobody is going to risk their hardware to test a theory that has been answered MANY times on here..

I had ordered a display in early August with an estimated ship date of Sep 15 (today). When I went in today it showed that there was a problem with the payment. I got a replacement card yesterday. I immediately updated the card information. Now it gives me a shipping estimate of mid October. If there was any serious competition I would not buy from Apple anymore. Unfortunately, there isn't.

How is that Apple's fault? Your card is not charged until the item ships. Whenever you replace a credit card it is your responsibility to update all your information where ever it may be. (i.e., paypal, reoccurring monthly bills, previous orders, etc...)

I updated the information as soon as possible, within one hour of them attempting to charge it. So it is unfair of them to make my order slip by a whole month, since the order is not fully paid for and today has been the scheduled shipping date for over a month.

hahah, wrong....the guys at the Apple store told me that it would work on non-TB Macs (display only). I even emailed Tim Cook and got 2 call back from his executive staff with two DIFFERENT answers.

It's not a risk to your hardware. It either works or it doesn't. It's unclear how the ThunderBolt interface works when dealing with non-TB devices.

Chill out.

I don't see why it would work if Apple is selling its regular 27" Display at regular price. As for speaking with people at the Apple store about a product that no one has yet, they only know as much as we do.

Ordered my 27-inch TB on 9/1/2011 from best buy, Checked my order status today and it still says backorder estimate arrival time Sept 16-28 the reason I chosen best buy because of there 18 months no interest plan

August 18 order shipped just now by UPSH for delivery by 09/21. Still waiting on the second order to be processed.

I feel your pain. Any company would have done that though. Call Apple and explain the situation. They may do something for you. If not then check with your local apple store daily and buy one as soon as they get in.

I just rang Apple and they said 2-4 weeks delay but my online says deliver by 23rd which is next Friday.

I thought i would be cheeky by asking if any of these displays were shipping yet (knowing fine well they are by posts on here) and he said NO, no TB displays are shipping as yet!!!, just shows they tell you anything:mad:

Ordered mine on august 4 and still says shipping date 29th, delivered by 30th :(

The tb display is actually a replacement for my 24" acd because of the flickering problem with the new mbp's thunderbolt port. So I don't really have an order date. They agreed to replace it a few days after the tb displays were announced.
