Hey, Is it safe to say if new macbook's were too be released it would be at WWDC ?

Considering they haven't been doing that many refreshes at keynotes for Macs in the last 2 years ? No.

Hardware refreshes these days for the Mac line-up are mostly silent. Even the Mac Mini's case redesign didn't get a keynote. The last Mac hardware refresh that was in a keynote was the MBA at the "Back to the Mac" presentation in 2010 IIRC.

Nope.

Apple haven't used a media event to launch new Macs for a long time (MacBook Air redesign in 2010 was the last one I think). They're just updated silently now.

I don't think Apple would even do it for a re-designed MacBook lineup, we'd just see new stuff on the website.

WWDC is all about the software. iOS 6 and OS X Mountain Lion and very little if anything else will be the focus of this event. We'll also see a lot of iCloud considering how much better it's integrated into Mountain Lion.

EDIT: KnightWRX just snapped me.

Can we get better notifications please?

I feel sorry for people who don't use a jailbroken phone with apps like intelliscreenx or bitesms

Maybe widgets like the weather icon I've used since the original iPhone?!

Maybe enable FaceTime over LTE?

Seriously not hard apple.

Maybe I'll stop jail breaking then

I don't disagree; however, rather than continuing to support jailbreaking (although there isn't anything inherently wrong with jailbreaking) why not send Apple an email asking for the option to download apps from other sources? An option similar to OS X allowing only apps from the App Store, App Store and identified developers or anywhere would be nice.

Please send an email to Tim Cook at tcook@apple.com. An template email is provided below:

Greetings,

I would very much appreciate the consideration of a feature in iOS to allow downloading apps from any location. Similar to OS X, such a feature would provide the benefits of the Apple iTunes App Store or allow App Store and identified developers or anywhere.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration

Just curious, why is it so expensive?

Yeah I was wondering that too.. I suppose it is because they sell out in a matter of days anyway even at this price. And it's kind of standard for a business-to-business seminar event to be crazy priced.

I'd love to go myself but being from Europe I couldn't even afford the flight anyway, let alone the admission :)

Well, I wonder what the new OS's will hold in store for us...

I've enjoyed the previews of Mountain Lion, but I wonder what larger changes and improvements might be waiting to surprise us?

I do hope iOS 6 brings many improvements though. I like iOS, but there are still so many things holding it back... It could be so much more than what it is now...!

Can't imagine they'll be announcing the iPhone 5 at this event. :(

Nope. The iPhone is now Apple's biggest cash-cow. It now gets the Christmas quarter launch the iPod used to have when it was the one making the money.

It makes sense - you put your shiniest, newest product out front just as the biggest shopping season of the year kicks off.

Got it.

Got it. Logged in. Bought it. Got the confirmation email. Activated it. Done.

w00t!

Just FYI, I had subscribed to that funky "WWDC Alerts" SMS service. It actually worked. Got an SMS on my phone at :42 past the hour. Macrumors updated at :46 past the hour.

Thank you Anthony Herron & Aaron Wardle!

I can just imagine how many sleepy developers in the California time zone fell out of bed this morning.

At long last resolution independence!
'
I think pixel-doubling is Apple's brute-force solution for high resolution displays (which is fine by me), as true resolution independence has turned out to be a pipe dream for both Apple and MS, although both had worked on it for years.

At least the days of visible pixels is finally reaching a sunset.

Wouldn't necessarily say limited, but it hasn't progressed quite as much as I'd like it to. Curious to see what is in the works as well though.

What features or functions are lacking from iOS, iCloud, iTunes and iPhone 4S? I can think of a few features that would be nice but not too many:

802.11ac Wi-Fi
iCloud media streaming (over "4G LTE" or Wi-Fi)
Improved Color Gamut Standard conformance (like the new iPad)
Improved Maps and Navigation
3GPP Long Term Evolution (aka "4G LTE")
NFC

Those are the "big" things although I can think of a lot of "little" things similar to the top 20-30 apps found in Cydia.

WWDC is a 5 day event broken up into 10 hours a day of 1 hour 'classes' teaching developers about various aspects of OS X and iOS development. It's like a week of school where you look at a schedule of classes and decide where you want to be at 8am, then 9am, then 10am, etc.

Think if your local college offered a week-long learn-a-thon where you could learn physics, math, chemistry, literature, history, astronomy, etc. with all the best professors. This would definately cost money. This is basically what Apple is doing for iOS and OS X.

There are also labs where developers can show their code, and get help with problems they are having from the actual Apple developers who designed and wrote the code for iOS and OS X. And, there is a Thursday night party with featured big-name bands and lots of free food.

I know a lot of people are saying that the image used in the WWDC are apps, But if you look at the image that apple use to convey there retina displays you can see that the colors are very similar. http://tinyurl.com/6pmt28u . Of course I don't no for sure, nor does anyone else, but this is my input :)

Well isn't it obvious?

The plethora of square shapes (or boxes if you will) indicate the future of sandboxing for all apps. The multitude of sizes of the boxes foreshadows the numerous sizes that will be available for iOS devices. iPhone nano, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5". Plus iPad mini and iPad XL. The multicolors indicates the bright, bright colors that will be available on Mac retina displays.

Oh and of course the apple shape indicates that an apple a day keeps the rumors away...

That's one opinion, but I was thinking multi colored Mac Minis! Since the Apple TV was just refreshed with the new iPad this is the only logical explanation. :p

If there is a major redesign of the macs or they merge the Pro's and Air's into one line I could see that being announced. If its just an upgrade of the internals with no real change to look and feel then I'd agree they'd just update their website.

Just like the Mac Mini got a keynote for its new look right ? ;)
