Archmage said:So, I ordered my Mac mini from the Apple Online Store but the Up-To-Date web form is asking for a place of purchase, city and state. What do I put in these fields? I can't submit the form with it blank.
Thanks!
I was an English and Classics major in undergrad, so I SHOULD know this! My original thinking, was, "It's a verbal noun--there must be some way to make it plural..." But now that I think of it--this is not the case. I think "To Do" can be either singular or plural...you're right. There's no way to pluralize the infinitive in Greek or Latin--but the infinitive construct in Biblical Hebrew, I believe, is changed to accomodate gender and number...but not the infinitive absolute.Oae said:This is a tough question. I did a google search and found one link that seems to suggest that the plural form of infinitives (except those using "be") are the same as their non plural form. If this is true, in this case it would just be "To Do." Most of the search results turn up articles on split infinitives. I know a couple of english majors but none of them are online at the moment, so that's the best I can do.

Looks like we'll have to use the new parental controls on you...hahahaQFace said:And yes, it does have to do with porn... after going over website and looking at the new features of all the programs, I stumbled over a new advance in Safari 2: Private Browsing. Now, Apple claims this if for public macs so people can insure their info will not be stolen by other users. The REAL reason, though, provides a much better option for those who don't want ALL the places we visit on the net stored. And now, instead of having to clear my entire history every time I visit certain types of websites, I can just enable this handy feature when I need it!

Is an infinitive not, by definition, a noun? I'm not a linguist, but in all of the languages that I've taken it's always been referred to as a "verbal noun."mikeylebeau said:It's not really an infinitive, it's a noun that looks like an infinitive.

I think it'll come in a box too...Plymouthbreezer said:Of course. Why would they ship with no box??![]()

I wouldn't base my decision on a purchase based on a ripple effect.

There are already posts on this, but I guess you didn't stop to read them, or you just enjoy going over the top. Anyway, if your machine runs Tiger, it runs CoreImage, it's just that, with a supported graphics card, some of the processing for CoreImage is offloaded to the GPU. It's really no different than the requirements in earlier OS X releases for Quartz Extreme support.SiliconAddict said:No core image support for the Mac mini == No sale to me. Yah know MS may play hardball and games with their products but Apple does the same damn ****!
Because Apple wants to make money on it, and torrents suck.Lacero said:So, exactly what is happening between now and April 29th if Tiger has already gone gold? Why not just release it now as a torrent. I'm sure Apple could save a lot of money on packaging and shipping.
YES! All realtime FCP filters, finally! I am looking forward to real-time blend modes. That has been killing me ever since they released FCP 1.0.SiliconAddict said:I think there is a LITTLE bit more to it then a ripple effect....

All because Apple is playing marketing games.![]()
It's got a few quirks still. 10.4 doesn't automatically switch between multiple base stations on the same network, Safari doesn't let you save photos to any folder you want anymore (only iPhoto or the desktop), and it's printer support isn't 100% yet.bankshot said:Hehe, same here. I agree, I'll be reading reports of how things go very intently to determine how soon I should take the plunge. Don't want any catastrophic oopses! Of course, I'll probably break down and order it before the 29th, but I swear I'm gonna try to wait to install until after reading some reports. Hopefully I'll make it at least until that evening...![]()

What was it like for Panther? Was there a copy sold with each new computer after the official release date?![]()
thank you
