nVidia Geforce FX go5200 is supported but my ATi Mobility 9600 isnt. You gotta be kidding me.

Hopefully that isnt a full list.

I hear you there. The old Tiger site said both the Mobility 9600 and 9700 were supported and now they took off the 9600. I will assume however if a 9700 Mobility can run it so can a 9600 Mobility. I guess we will see. Does anyone out there know the deal on this? I was all pumped about having 2 completely compatible computers ready for Tiger and now it looks like my Powerbook does not have full support from Apple's site. I also noticed that no Powerbook G3's are supported, but old toliet seat iBooks are??? Very strange indeed, but if you go to the supported computers list, Pismo is gone.

Ah. AidenShaw. You can always count on him when the 64bit myth must be debuked. I lik your avatar btw. Is it your cat?

"Debuked" - I like that, kind of a cross between "debunk" and "puke".

I can't wait for the people who will claim that 10.4 makes a G3 and G4 into 64-bit machines....

The cat isn't mine, but is very similar. Maine Coon - big, furry, friendly, smart....

I'm a student developer so mine should be ordered for me :D well I hope, seeing as how my membership expires May 4th, anyone care to speculate if I'll get Tiger or will I have to make sure I renew ;)

anyway, I'm very disappointed that the original iBooks aren't supported anymore, I have one around still that I like to keep up-to-date, but I guess Panther is the end of the line for it :(

also, if you look at these two pages:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/requirements.html
http://www.apple.com/ca/macosx/upgrade/requirements.html

you'll see they dropped support for the G3 Powerbooks, even though they have Firewire, what's up with that?

OSX Tiger, where's iPhoto and iMovie?
What made Panther so guenius is now all gone... Windows gives you a VideoEditing software.. but OS X don't..

Ahh the dilemma this causes... Now I've gotta decide between buying Tiger for my current iBook or just splashing out on a brand spanker with it pre-installed. The ol' 800MHz isn't quite cutting the mustard... And I do love the smell of new Apples.

Almost a Windows-like quality to this...

They have a media exchange program for $9.95. Download the

order form here.

The best part of the media-exchange form is that "Apple recommends that you make a copy of the completed order form, install DVD, and proof-of-purchase for your records." Now, if we're exchanging a DVD for a CD because we have a CD drive, how are we going to copy a DVD? (yes, I know there are ways, but for the average user, this makes no sense).

Tiger's being released on the same day at the Hitchhikers Guide 2tg as a movie tie in, it's obvious. Have you seen the resemblance of the new Marvin (the paranoid android) and the Automator logo in Tiger?

"Brain the size of a 64-bit dual processor savvy modern operating system and they make me do drop shadows"

LOL, funniest remark and comment I've seen in ages. :D

On the right hand side of theMac OS X Upgrade page, there is a box labeled "Media Exchange Program" with a link to a PDF that explains how to get a copy of the CDs.

Also, if you have a firewire cable lying around someplace, you can use Firewire Target Mode to install onto the iBook. Just put the iBook in FWTM, attach it to the mini, then boot up the mini with the install DVD. You'll be able to select the iBook drive as your install destination.

Briefing through the developer's page I do notice that in XCode 2 there will be code sense for Java, BUT it will only include "the latests Java 2 platform" meaning No Java(5/1.5 whatever you want to call it) for at least another month....

I guess I should know this, but isn't SDK 1.5 also Java 2? It's still part of J2SE and J2EE. http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

You high on something?

iMovie and iPhoto have never been a part of OS X, it's a part of iLife.

They will have a midnight sale like last time.

Actually, Apple's press release says it will not be released until 6pm on the 29th.

The best option is to order it from Apple.com, and they will ship it so you will get it on Friday (some people will acutally get it earlier depending on how close they live to the distribution center)

Awesome, now I know why he campus rep program sent me an email last night asking me to confirm my shipping address, however I doubt I will get it by the 29th. Maybe I'll just order a copy anyway...'

Also I see that rendezvous has officially been changed to Bonjour. Ugh.

I think that means a photocopy of the face of the DVD.

The price on the UK store is £89. I was sure that it was £99 for previous OS's.

There are just so many cool things to say that I'm going to have to take a cold shower and post later...

Ok, I thought I was crazy, 'cause Tiger is priced 149$CAD and from memory I think it was 179$CAD for the current version (Panther?).

By the way, everyone asking about iLife and OS X...

Apple is offering a bundle of Tiger, iLife and iWork for $249.
Savings of $117 over buying them seperately at full price, if my "iCalc's" :D are accurate

I'd post a link to the offer information, but Apple Store links time out.

Go to the Apple Store, click the red "Sale" tag, click on "Promos" tab.
