Aside from the occasional visual glitch, I've only run across two bugs:
-items on the desktop do not respect the Dock. I have a file on the desktop sitting under my Dock right now.
-The dates (date created and date modified) on some items (ok, 2,000 items) on my hard drive are set at sometime in 2037 or 2038.

In 24 hours of using Tiger (clean install), I've had 2 kernel panics. The nice thing is that next time you boot up and login, a dialog comes up prompting you to send a report to Apple. I did, and hopefully it'll be useful information. Both times there was something about HCI driver in the info, and from what I can gather, that probably has something to do with keyboard or mouse. My mouse has been flaky the last month or two, where the cursor will occasionally jump to one side of the screen all of a sudden. Never a real problem in Panther (just an annoyance) but I gotta wonder if it's somehow triggering a Tiger panic?

Aside from that, I just noticed a humorous bug in the Dashboard weather widget. It's about 12:30 in the morning, but the widget seems to think it's sunny outside here: :D

Switching to a nearby city shows the proper image:

What else? If you reboot before Spotlight is done with its initial indexing (like I did), apparently it doesn't pick up where it left off. I re-ran mdimport and now it finds a lot more stuff that I knew was there.

And they still haven't fixed the Expose bug from Panther that I wrote about in another thread. Oh well.

Other than that, Tiger's been quite nice - great speed boost all around. I really hope the kernel panics don't continue and force me to go back to Panther. Thankfully I still have that partition, so it's simply a matter of choosing a new startup disk if necessary.

Safari bug: Enable tabs. Do a google search. Cmd-click to open a search result in a new tab. It opens in the same tab, not a new one.

I had this problem too. It's because you're logged into Google. Log out and you'll be fine. God knows why.

My 17" PB isn't waking from sleep reliably. Preview has crashed a couple of times and MS Word is very, very slow. Any ideas?

When I boot up or come back from sleep the airport connection doesn't autoconnect to my wireless network like it did in Panther. Very annoying. Airport reception is a lot better though.

That's driving me bat**** too. WTF is with that. It's such a dumb bug. How can a beta tester have missed that? I thought it was just me...

A few reviewers reported this too...seems most of the people with this issue have iMac G5s. Do you also? FWIW, I, like Munkle, have no problems with AE re-acquiring a signal on wake. I imported my keychain, got asked to allow the connection tool to use the keychain, and both my home (AEBS) and school (some kind of WEP 802.11b I think) work fine. More bars too, although I haven't tested my computer in the rooms in school where it seemed to be just out of connection reach yet, so it might be artificial.

On my 1.5Ghz 15" PB the fan now seems to be running 95% of the time, even if I'm just browsing.

Other than that, everything seems so much snappier.

Auto-connects for me too.

I did read a suggestion that you set your location to Automatic, allow it to find your network and re-enter your password, then it *may* resolve the issue. Other people had success with changing the password so that Keychain *had* to remember a new one. Did you have a problem in 10.3.9 or is it a new in Tiger issue? It seems that some 'books have had this problem regularly while others are perfectly normal.

Ahhh, yes, locations. I re-installed without importing library files, and neglected to even *think* about setting up a location. Considering that this doesn't impair me from connecting in multiple locations, and that you really don't appear to be able to have substantially different network profiles in different locations (If I could tie my choice of SMTP server to the network I was on, I would be all over that!), I still don't completely understand this mysterious feature. But to echo this suggestion, there was at least one time when I suddenly became unable to wirelessly connect to my department network, and the solution consisted solely of making a new location without changing any other parameters. Odd.....

if anyone would like to see a real life working emaxple of how rubbish spotlight can be, it can be found here:

http://wengtheband.co.uk/mac/spotlightrubbish.mov

this is running on a very new iBook 12", we didn't do a clean install, just an upgrade.

to be honest, i think spotlight is pretty amazing... when it works. i have it running fine on my eMac, but then again, how do i know that? i could be searching for things that exist but ain't coming up. i dont expect this inconsistency at all from apple

I think what he means is that in Panther, if you run iCal, and then quit it, *after you quit*, the icon stays on today's date for the rest of the day. Which it did, for me, too....

I have never noticed that before. Proves how little i use iCal i guess.

Just did an archive and install (want to do a clean install but I have to finish my exams first). Most things works just fine, and things feels faster and better all around (even with Spotlight indexing in the background).

One MAJOR bug, though: Firefox has stopped working...

I tried most things I can think of: Repairing permissions, ditching preferences and profile and reinstalling Firefox (in that order). Still crashes on startup...

Anyone else got similar problems...?

On the upside there might be a chance that Safari 2 works with my internet bank (although I have not tried to pay any bills, one of the things that didn't work with 1.3)... ;)

Try downloading the latest build, Firefox works for me. I haven't got any plug-ins installed though.

I went in and downloaded the latest version, 1.0.3, are you referring to the latest nightly build...?

And I had adblock installed, but, as said above, deleted my entire profile, and it still will not work...

I'm using v1.0.3 as well, hmm...

I've had the System Prefs->Backdrop/Screensaver section dump on me several times (to the point where it asks me to send feedback to Apple). It most frequently happens on the backdrop "tab" and not the screensaver tab.

Open with> double up

When i right click a file - and choose 'Open with>' the list of appications it shows are all repeated twice. So right click a .jpg includes (amongst others) -

Is there anything I can do to sort this out? or is it another 'Tiger 'Feature'?

Do you have an external drive always mounted with a clone of your main install on it, like I do? I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Oddly, though, I'm unaffected by this particular issue.

I corrected this problem, sort of. Many of the files were components to Warcraft III, games, or music files. Deleting and reinstalling the offending applications solved that problem. Duplicating the music files and deleting the originals corrected those.

All-in-all, I am liking this OS.

Not a Tiger issue; some reported it in Panther as well.
