I'm not so sure I'd say us Americans are worse off than our EU counterparts. How do you figure that? Those of us who work and contribute to society are doing quite well. We own property, decent houses, cars, toys, pretty much whatever we want. What does Europe have over us? "Free" health care? Great, except it's not free. Europeans are used to handing over most of their paycheck for the good of the community. No thanks. I can take care of myself.

I don't see many people leaving Mexico trying to get into Europe. I also don't see too many Americans trying to leave here and get into Europe. It's always the other way around. I wonder why that is? Maybe because the USA is still the best place to be if you are ambitious and willing to work hard and make something of yourself. Sorry but those are the facts.

Well, what would be the benefit of handing your paycheck to the defense budget anyway? Also, is taking care of yourself somehow connected with greatly increased use of antidepressants in the States?

I'm not sure what you meant by immigration, but probably revolves about the same issue as Americans leaving for Canada to get some decent health care.

Same geography and history teachers as Tim Cook I see... :p

What do you mean? Turkey is not only what some people eat during Thabksgiving...

But they seem constantly forget it. Including the fact there's a second American continent, the South one.

3:
North America: Canada, US, Mexico (some countries consider it part of Central America)
Central America: all in between
South America: from Venezuela to Argentina

The problem is that European Union includes super rich and also super poor countries.

United States do not.

It's Central America really, but that is considered part of North America.

Maybe only by those planning on retiring there...
A huge stretch.

It seems that we all have a tendency to mix our geographical perceptions and the geopolitical ones in this thread.
Clever Tim to throw that horrendous declaration to spur more downloads of educational and reference apps...
As the winter Olympic Games have several European countries watching we will see some more Apple free advertising.

After reading that analogy I feel like Apple is becoming the Matrix and if the Merovingian would be American, he'd be Tim Cook. How's that for an analogy? Someone please give me a red pill.

Who considers that??

----------

From Colombia, actually.

A lot of people.

Most English-speaking countries refer to Central America as being part of North America.

In Latin America, the Americas are considered a single continent called America, and Central America is considered a distinct region of this continent and not a part of North America.

Politically, it is not North America, and it might be considered part of it only when talking about geology.

If you are playing risk :D or if we use the land borders between countries, you are right.
However Venezuela is farther north, some islands make the landmark. The Goajira peninsula belonged to Venezuela, but the stupid individuals in power over the last decades allow it to be lost. Anyway is we look into today's geopolitical situation in the area Cuba and Venezuela are under the same "leader".
So will that make Cuba part of South America?
There are plenty of treaties going on "similarly" (for the lack of better word) to the European Union.

It always depends on which way you are looking at it. But you are right, politically, it is not part of North America.

You are joking, right?

I'm amazed that it's February and we haven't seen any iPhone hardware leaks yet. Maybe the new iPhone will be like the nMP and surprise us all. When did we start seeing leaks of iPhone 5 hardware?

I bet that by June we will know everything there is to know about the iPhone 6, and that's sad

In that case, you probably would have had to say Chile instead of Argentina, unless you also look at the 19th century.

I really hope they are!

The facts? According to you?

One fact - life expectancy is higher in most European countries, than in the USA.

You mean like Android with Samsung on one side and then other companies like HTC or Sony that might not necessarily benefit greatly from the celebrated "Android market leader" status?

Wow, I am both an android and apple fan, and I have to say, Tim Cook was so right when he said this! The amount of fragmentation in android is ridiculous, and the fact that so many companies all have there different versions is annoying too. When it comes to computers though, I don't think macs will ever only be the only computers people use, due to the fact that not everyone has just $1,000 laying around for one. Overall this was a great thing that Tim Cook said, because it was so accurate

why

So much hate in between two continents.. of one man, one nature, one life on our only one Earth! Kinda sad to see joyful grins here about that statement. I´m european, I don´t feel offended.. and I see Tim s point in that.. if he supposed politics, he´s quite right I say. Unlucky comparison that is anyway.

I don't care about his Android comparison. It's what he said about the name Europe. It has nothing to do with the rest discussion in this interview. How can a CEO of a company say that Europe's name was given so that Americans can understand what Europe is...When I read the interview my first reaction was to tweet to Tim and express my resentment for his comment.
I read the whole interview and it is clear that what he said was completely out of context. Just plain stupid and with no respect.
This is not about which continent is better. It's about Tim Cook and his lack of education and respect for Europe.

The over reactionary trolls in this thread are hilarious acting like they're seriously offended by this. What are you guys going to do? Start a revolution against Tim Cook/Apple? No, you're going to continue to use your iDevices like good little children now sit down and behave yourselves.

Such comments show the exact nature of the problem.

It is disappointing to see that in this forum there is no chance of having a serious discussion about anything. Macrumors should moderate better and make the forum accessible to adults only..

Everybody can have an opinion about what Tim Cook said, but everybody should also agree that his statement about Europe is plain wrong and offending.
