You can joke all you want, but there are more people that think like me, on Germany alone, than people on this forum.

All of them Portuguese and Spaniards, who continue to expect to get paid for standing around picking their noses. Then they want early retirement because of the arthritis that has afflicted their picking finger.

Portugal: 5th on EU, only 24 minutes per week less than UK.

And we don't expect getting paid for nothing. In fact we needed money, we didn't get from you (whatever "you" is), and we have been winning the recession with the small resources we have. Thanks for nothing.

PS: what country are you from? Let's see...

I don't see many people leaving Mexico trying to get into Europe. I also don't see too many Americans trying to leave here and get into Europe.

Oh yeah? You never saw any Mexicans swimming over the Atlantic to get to Europe? Must be b/c the US is better and less xenophobic.

Most US citizens never leave the country on vacation, the furthest they go is Florida so they can continue to eat Applebees and Chilis. So no surprise there either.

I'd love to see the mass exodus from Mexico to England ... I'm sure the distance has nothing to do with it happening.

As a US citizen.... I find this hilarious - because it's mostly true. Even territories like Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands in our back yards are too foreign for many.

I'm not so sure I'd say us Americans are worse off than our EU counterparts. How do you figure that? Those of us who work and contribute to society are doing quite well. We own property, decent houses, cars, toys, pretty much whatever we want. What does Europe have over us? "Free" health care? Great, except it's not free. Europeans are used to handing over most of their paycheck for the good of the community. No thanks. I can take care of myself.

I don't see many people leaving Mexico trying to get into Europe. I also don't see too many Americans trying to leave here and get into Europe. It's always the other way around. I wonder why that is? Maybe because the USA is still the best place to be if you are ambitious and willing to work hard and make something of yourself. Sorry but those are the facts.

unfortunately he is right...:)

and stock android is like a beach near the Mediterranean....:D

Cook...you are right...

and wE ALL KNOW who is responsible for the european crisis...

fortunately google does not have any Huns :roll eyes:

for this

"Europe was a name that somebody came up with for Americans who didn't understand that Europe was a lot of countries that weren't like U.S. states''
he screwed it up

Because Greece spending 500% more money than you had coming in was nothing to do with it.

As for the analogy, makes him look like an ass.

Yeah... And the United states of great healthcare, NSA, Snowden percecution, school shootings should really be the way to go...

Well we had great healthcare until Obama and the Dems screwed it up. Snowden is far from being persecuted considering he broke the law and betrayed his company (there were alternatives to selling the secrets with which he had an issue). Well we had a school shooting by a nut job. Europe has had a few too.

But having family in Germany and here - I can see where this was an unartful comment. But I have heard dimwitted comments coming from Europeans regarding Americans - both sides work off tired stereotypes.

Now with regards to Android fragmentation - it is a hot mess.

What I've learned from this thread:

1. Europeans don't like Android
2. Europeans are poorer than I thought.
3. People in Europe hate the US.
4. People in Europe are just as arrogant and ignorant as anyone else.

Wow, you learned all that?

From this thread on a Apple based rumours website? I can imagine some people on here slightly prefer iOS to Android yes haha.

Not sure why you think we are poor.

We have our differences but come on, don't take them seriously.

Aren't we all.

In what way is kit kat better? Both are fantastic mobile operating systems. iOS7 is beautiful in my opinion.

Because it's nice and simple to understand and it doesn't crash and hang when you get a text message! iOS7 is awful, I hate it and it was the MAIN reason I switched to the Nexus 5. I was happy with my 2012 Nexus 7 tablet and iOS iPhone until iOS7, and I am not the only one. It truly felt like a rushed beta that in my eyes looked awfully full of design over substance.
But that is my opinion.

And he doesn't seem to have a clue about the current crop of tablets. I, in addition to all kinds of iPads, also have an N7 2013. I certainly don't find it "crappy". It's just that I don't use it much because of the small screen. (7", particularly at 16:10 only, is just too small compared to 9.7".) Otherwise, it's a great little gadget with an excellent price/performance ratio.

Yeap, absolutely, he could have been mature and selected sensible words to differentiate iOS and Android devices, but no he reduced himself to slang, and totally agree that Android devices are fantastic! Great value for money.

He is catering to his audience. He wasn't hand picked by Steve jobs and the apple board by being dumb. Sorry you are smarter then the average person, it's something we have to deal with.

So he was catering to you then? Because your his audience, the Apple fan, so your implying your uneducated and Europe was a name made up so you understood all those country's?
And I think you'll find steve Jobs DID have something to do with him being selected as his successor.

I can tell you've never been to Europe and have decided to stereotype a few billion people based on the comments from 10 or 20 of them on a forum.

Oh... and.... to those speculating the European crises, well I do believe that AMERICA and the UK were to blame for that! You know, that little capitalist corporate utter greed of the banks and governments of those select country's that combined managed to bankrupt the planet... oh but it's Ok because the very same governments and banks all did great out of it regardless.

Check further down, productivity. Those two has to be combined. But is really of no relevance to this discussion.

As has been pointed out earlier in this thread, Cook's intention was only to refer to the disparities within as a fact, not to attack Europe or the EU. Even though the comparison (apparently people don't get it) wasn't wisely chosen, it is valid if you look at cultural and economic circumstances.

Yeah, it's weird right? I don't know why I was holding them to a higher standard.

I learned something about people here from this thread ... we have a lot of ignorant people who like to paint entire continents with a wide brush.

You need to cross productivity with education.

Only from the 2000's access to higher education was feasible.

In few years, we grew from 4 years basic education to 12.

And in sectors like Engineering, we are already producing more relevant papers (citations per capita) than Germany, South Korea, and many others.
