Tim Cook: Apple Watch on Schedule to Ship in April

Well. at least Apple is doing something right for once..

I can only hope it there will be delays shortly....

Yeah, I don't mind the 4-month window much. However why give such a time frame at all when you're certainly not going to launch it for the first 3 months & 3 weeks of that window anyway? Why just not say April-May 2015 or Late April or Early May?

Back in September they probably thought there was a chance they could release it sooner. There *were* murmurings about it potentially being released by Valentine's day.

This is so disappointing. I'm sure by then I will have found something I would rather spend my apple watch money on. Oh well I guess this will be one of the few products I don't by launch day.

April Fools' Day (April 1st) 2015

The "Apple 1 Watch" priced at $666.66

Only catch is it's a kit, and you have to put it together  :apple:

Although this is disappointing, it is also nice to see they are taking their time to make it right. I'll for sure be buying one as soon as possible, and cannot wait

$349 for the aluminum model.
$499 or $999 for the stainless steel model.
$4K or $5K for the gold model.

That's what think they maybe aiming for. Apple has never been fearful of charging a lot for certain things.

lets hope the battery life is a rumor like the day of release :D. Either way I'm buying one for sure! Can't wait !

Apple wants to make sure every iOS developer has their bonus money ready to blow on an Apple Watch.

A business not afraid of charging a lot for something...like we havent seen those before. I mean people just have to decide if its for them or not. We don't have to have everything. We have a choice of saving our money or blowing it on beer or blowing it on a f-n watch.

I think the Stainless Steel will range from $499-$999 based on the band. I wouldn't be shocked if the high end stainless steel cracks $1000, though.

$4K or $5K for the gold model is in line with John Gruber's estimates.

Whilst many people have noted here that Apple may now be bettering the Watch - given the delayed release, I was wondering if there was room for any major change now that the device is introduced already (as opposed to just being 'announced'), a subset of its features is released, 'thousands' of Watches are already being tested in use - including Tim Cook, and the suppliers/manufacturers may soon be gearing up to start the manufacturing process. Is it plausible to add/better features now?

Oh, man! Apple Watch's finally coming out in April.
I can't wait to be among the first to stand in linZZZZZZZZZZZZ ....

Based on the rumors, I think it may be :(

lasting approximately 19 hours during "mixed use." = lasting 9 hours in the real world

3 hours of time display = 1.5 hours in the real world

Someone please use your considerable photoshop skills to make those watch faces black, as they will be the vast majority of the time.

Oh dear Zod. Is everyone really debating what constitutes early 2015.

Who cares. Go out. Meet Girls/Boys. I am looking forward to getting mine, perhaps even 2. 1 for exercising. But it's just a thing.

You're going to meet two Girls/Boys for exercising?

Have fun!

that will be what kills Apple watch. that or having to charge your watch in the middle of the day. :(

I might still give it a try, and most likely return it within first 30 days

Agreed. I'd rather have a delayed launch but everything work right than an on schedule launch but with lots of bugs.

Like iOS 7 and 8?

What features are you most interested in?

Can't live without it? empty marketing phrase.
Perhaps the rest of us shnucks "without it" should commit suicide as life is unbearable...

Careful. There are probably some here who do feel that way.

Simple first 4 months early, next 4 months is middle and last 4 are late. We aren't talking seasons based on the calendar here.

Right. When you buy a Mac, the model is described as Early-2011 or Mid-2013. I guess they are consistent enough.

But lets face it. The watch is heading toward being about a month late. No big deal. But it is.

battery life

so I would think that the only people who would be disappointed with the battery life would be someone who can survive with 5 hrs of sleep a night. Not me.

Can't see how this is going to be a massive success unless they do something disruptive…

The only thing I could think of is make Siri significantly better and make voice the main input with the watch (since its using the phone you have that resource) - then you don't have to worry about touching tiny little icons on that little screen or using that little dial.

If its a talk interface and works really well - it'll be Katie bar the door on sales.

I see some ridiculous price speculation here.

iPad, iPhone, macbook Air, lets look at what has made Apple money in recent years. All these products are close in range in pricing, with upgraded models being within a hundred or 'so' within the base, and another upgrade a 'hundred or so' within the base.

I would venture to bet the Aluminum model is $348, with SS ~$500 (not upwards to $1000, this seems ridiculous)., Gold perhaps $1000+, not $3k, $5k, etc.

Apple makes no money if they cant sell it to millions of people in mass.
