I don't think it's "the most innovative phone" if it's exactly the same as the last one.
It's not, so there's that.

That’s some pretty selective reading there obiwan.Except... Apple are claiming they a making a phone for everyone. Not everyone owns a Mercedes.
If he is comparing the iPhone to an "mp3 player" you could expect an headphone jack on that device, imo. But I really didn't want to start this discussion again...Right? And no 8 track either.
Yes...this one costs more! It's not, so there's that.
Better bring back the good old iPhone SE!
So you are paying £2782 for your phone and contract over 3 years.£77.28 a month for the iPhone XS Max here in the UK is hardly 'easy to swallow'. And that's spread over 36 months!!

An iPhone 8 should easily go 3-4 years with aplomb, the A12 is only 15% faster while the A11 is driving a lower resolution so it’s practically a wash...I suppose I could buy her an older 8 or 7, but then you have longevity concerns (my wife usually goes 3-4 years), and they're like a couple millimeters smaller.
I can't see how Apple's aim to 'serve everyone' has been fulfilled. I need a headphone jack, a phone I can fit in my pocket, touch ID, and one that is kinder to my wallet. You are not serving my needs as an Apple customer. You just killed that phone off, and replaced last years premium model at a more expensive price. That's not exactly 'serving everyone' then, is it?
I totally agree with you. It's not expensive to make and if it were true, they would not be making billions of dollars and producing in China to reduce cost of manufacturing. The monthly payment plans with 0% financing is what helps fuel the sales. No, it's not cheap to make these phones. It costs about $400 doesn't it? So wouldn't about $800 be a reasonable price? They can charge whatever they want, but it is disingenuous to claim the price is so high because they are not cheap to make. They cost so much because that is the price the market can bear. If we stop paying so much, they will cost less.

So you’re familiar with the costs of manufacturing a bleeding edge node process for CPUs at scale? It’s not a capital investment of billions to move an entire chip fab over to the newest in manufacturing techniques?I totally agree with you. It's not expensive to make and if it were true, they would not be making billions of dollars and producing in China to reduce cost of manufacturing. He pointed out that all of the technology included in the iPhone, replacing previous separate gadgets like MP3 players and digital cameras, requires each smartphone to be priced at a premium
That happened 11 years ago Tim.

Tim, show me where I can get this £1000 for £30 a month. The £999 XS is £56 per month on IUP. It's just plain lies at this point.

Bring back the SE with a bigger display in nearly the same physical size as the original SE for $699. Apple killed it because they priced it too low.
...I think anyone could make Apple do well, sales wise. The products relatively sell themselves.
I own a nice BMW and I do not feel as ripped-off as if I pay Apple's price-tag for MacBook Pro's, iPhones or Watches.
A BMW is way more fun.
Perhaps, but I worry about the regular 8 only having 2GB of RAM (often a bottleneck on older devices) and what that will be like in 2021 or 2022 on iOS 15 or 16. What I have been trying to figure out the past day talking with Apple support chat is whether or not I can modify my iPhone Upgrade Program since I have already paid off the extra month for my X (irritating as that was) and have an XS coming Friday to replace it and I have to send the old one back. It would be cheaper to just pay off the X and let her use that. Nobody seems to be able to give me an answer. Think I'm going to have to call in and escalate it, but I'm waiting to see if her SE survives the drying. An iPhone 8 should easily go 3-4 years with aplomb, the A12 is only 15% faster while the A11 is driving a lower resolution so it’s practically a wash...
