Cook should be embarrassed that they released such an ugly product and yes, no matter how you sugar coat it. The fact remains the 6s battery is not up to snuff for many people.

They made it ugly on purpose. Nobody is going to buy the iSORE and then Cook and Ive can make the iPhone 7 even thinner (slightly smaller battery, less materials, higher price, more profit) than the previous ones. Their argument will be that people are obviously happy with their battery life otherwise Apple would have sold more Battery Cases. Brilliant :p

This is a clear indication that Apple will not be increasing battery specs in the new iPhone 7 and any future iPhones. They now have this to fall back on, "if battery is an issue just get our hump case"

I'm just shocked Apple designed this. I personally have no issues with battery on my 6s it lasts me 2 days but I'd never buy this look it's so android looking.

I see two significant advantages to this case, not available anywhere else. It's flexible, easy to put on and off, and offers protection for the phone. I've had two of those rigid charging cases, twice the phone fell and the case came off, in one case my phone broke, that's clearly the fault of the rigid case. With the Apple case this would have not happened. Next I much prefer to carry around only a lightning cable rather than having also to carry a micro USB cable. And lastly, nobody has yet experienced how it feels to hold it in one's hand, maybe it's very comfortable. So if you don't like the way it looks, don't buy it, and please stop imposing your opinion on everyone. Now I do agree the price is somewhat high at $99, but then again, they have the right to price their products as they wish as much as you have the right to buy it or not. I would have preferred to buy this $99 case rather than the stupid Mophie one for $49 which forced me to replace the screen of my phone for $150.

I actually agree. I've owned MANY battery cases, for many models of iPhone, and I'm excited to receive my Apple battery case. A soft case like the silicone apple case I've had on my iPhone 6 for over a year.

Most cases are rigid, tough plastic that typically snaps together in two or more pieces. Bright LED lights that you can't disable while it's charging, and on/off switches that I've never understood the point of. This case fixes all of these issues, and is only thick where it has to be. It's not thick at the top and bottom where the battery isn't. Yes it's weird looking, but actually looks like it will be comfortable to hold.

The only drawbacks are it's less mAh than most of these cases, and it's expensive. Considering the smart features, partially slim profile, antennas, and lightning port, I'd say those things are easily ignored.

People need to get off their high horse about "design" and "Steven Jobs wouldn't have allowed this". This is a mostly elegant way of providing additional power and doing a decent job of it.

I agree. Is it the best looking case? No by any means. Functionality and extra juice are it's benefits. If it were flush and rigid I still wouldn't buy it. I think those Otter boxes many people buy are hideous. A case should be sleek and low profile like the leather one Apple makes.

In pictures it looks ugly...I also thought that about the iPhone 5 before I saw it (Granted, not nearly as ugly as I thought this was). I am intrigued with an Apple Battery case, but I will wait to hold final judgement until I see one in person and hold it.

Yes, that's what I fear, that this portends to a future design where a naked iPhone will have poor battery life.

Looks like my old extended battery i had on my HTC Thunderbolt. But I needed it. The stupid phone only lasted about 3 hours without needing a charge.

The sad thing is the folks at Macbreak weekly were defending the design of the case and saying how great it is. Its funny they'll complain about a design or decision by apple, yet on this topic all of the talking heads on the latest podcast were in love with the case and saying how great it is. They were knocking people who felt that apple rolled out a monstrosity and should not worry about design, since the function is so great.

Apple is about design and function. One of the factors drawing me to apple is a beautifully designed product.

This is not the case for any Apple customer. I'm really baffled how few people here get this. Their opinion is theirs not a global fact.

Joining the choir - it is ugly! And whats up with apple pushing all these adaptors and now this battery case to the users - just fix the internal battery, apple! And whats next? Removing the headphone jack from the iPhone, so I need to buy a lightning to headphone jack adaptor. Enough is enough - respect your customers.

iPhone is thin enough! I don´t agree with Ive when he says the battery is big enough for one-day usage. Today we don´t just send sms and call, we send pictures, send videos, stream videos, face-time. The problem with the current iPhones is that they don´t even last a day with normal usage.

Like Apple have strived towards a thinner phone, they should work towards better batteries, for one day heavy usage. That´s a good starting point. Phones are thin enough, to the point that they are bending..

while i agree that the iPhone could have been thicker (mostly due to the camera protrusion, since i rarely ever hear from anyone about iPhone's 'poor' battery life, which i believe is due to willfully-ignorant overuse of smartphones in general).. but man, what a sensational topic: a battery case almost no one needs (and no one has tried) is lumpy. *yawn*

So wait.....let me see if I got this right. Apple is getting rid of the headphone jack to make the iphone thinner....then releases this battery case to make up for the loss of battery power?

C'mon Apple you are better than this. This battery case in ugly and goes against all the reasons why people buy Apple products.
Let's get back to great Apple designs. Let's stop the trend of design over function.

This is only getting so much buzz because there's nothing else to talk about.

It's a product released to get some last minute sales before the holidays probably to push Q2 numbers.

Interesting that they make an accessory for hikers and campers, that just seems like an odd niche to go for considering there are cheaper alternatives that provide the same outcome (filling a battery away from mains electricity).

I think the guys at Apple are living in a different parallel universe, where a day lasts only 5 hours. I can't believe people are taking Tim Cook seriously. I mean, he's basically saying now that "you're calling it wrong". He won't admit that the case is ugly and that the 6 and 6s has a crappy battery even if his life depended on it. This type of delusion is slowly pushing me away from Apple.

You echo my sentiments.

I'm embarrassed by my Apple products these days. When I got my original iPad on Day 1, I was so proud to show it off. Now, I try to avoid talking about Apple.

This battery case makes a mockery of Apple. I feel they need a year of failure in order to learn from it.
