I am sure there is a way of making it without making it look like s*** though!

Or like a toddler that fell and hit his forehead.
When is your competing product coming out for everyone to critically examine it. Hmm, I didn't think so either.:)
Don't like it, move on. No one is holding a gun to your temple to buy it.

Don't like my comment?, move on. No one is holding a gun to your temple to read it :)

The fact that i do not have a competitor to this product it only means i do not work in this industry, not that i do not have taste!

Also it shows how close minded you are, are you telling me you are allowed comment on things you produce?

all of this is pretty ridiculous. Its like complaining about floor mats in your new car. I bet 90 percent of the people that hate it have no use for a battery case at all so you would probably shun any battery case that they released. Also, the people shaming them for wanting to make money, what are you talking about? Every company's job is to make as much money as possible. Now i have absolutely no need for it and i dont think it looks great either. A lot of consumers will never know this exists so no, i dont think an off hand accessory will hurt apple's image. lol

Cook also commented on the viewpoint that the case is an admission the iPhone 6s battery is too small, saying most people who charge their iPhones every day won't need the case. "But if you're out hiking and you go on overnight trips... it's kind of nice to have," he said.

LOL, what? What a bunch of BS. Everybody that I know that uses these battery cases works in a corporate environment and has to use them because they can't get a full day use out of their iPhone 6/6S.

Outrage by everyone especially the tech journos is silly. Yes, the case is not that attractive and a bit expensive, but really, there is not much you can do to include an extra battery and still try to keep a small footprint which I believe was Apple's intention. I for one hate cases and during normal usage my 6S will last me an entire day. But I can see myself buying this and throwing it in my laptop bag when I'm in situations where I do need the extra juice like traveling. Again it's not the most attractive case but compared to the Mophies and the other clunky battery cases out there that look like children's toys, I think Apple wins my dollars.

"You know, I probably wouldn't call it 'the hump,'" Cook said.

Of course Cook wouldn't call it The Hump. He is a salesman and its not positive jargon. That does not mean, though, that it is not an applicable term, nor that he disagrees with it.

I vote this as ugliest product Apple has released in the past decade or so.

I can point out other recent "Apple Design Failures" since Jony Ive isn't directly in charge:
- Way of charging the Magic Mouse 2 (placing the Mouse upside down, forcing the user to stop using it)
- Way of charging the Apple Pencil (protruding out of the iPad Pro)
- No way of storing the Apple Pencil on/with the iPad Pro
- Having to remove a cap to charge the Apple Pencil (since when Apple produced detachable and losable products?)
- Way of extending iPhone 6S battery power (this looks like an afterthought solution)

It seems like Apple recently hired junior designers...

I am commenting because I am playing the game.

Taste is subjective, so using it to indicate objectivity is pointless. Anyone can comment on anything they wish, but pedantic comments are not really helping the discussion. Making comments that really can improve the product or point out shortcoming or make members on the forum aware of the flaws, is productive discussion. Aesthetics is not one of them, because it's individualistic.

Maybe you can join them and teach them a lesson.

I doubt you can make a comment that can change a product that has already been released ... Just saying!

Steve would be shaking his head right now!

Oh yeah, the eternal What would Steve do comment.

Battery cases should be obsolete. They are clunky and ugly.

I think Apples view is that if most people get by with the current battery then why should they make all these customers carry a heavier, thicker phone all day long just to satisfy the minority need?

That being said, I think a slightly larger built-in battery would actually benefit the majority without being too much of a sacrifice. But that wouldn't eliminate the need for battery cases since there will always be situations and users that needs even more.

People are utterly ridiculous in their complaints. A) The Pencil only has the "protruding charging" as a SECONDARY option for a QUICK charge. It's very useful and I'm glad it's there. B) The Magic Mouse 2 has battery indication in OS X. If it runs low while you are using it, a quick charge regenerates it. I'd much rather them have this design and ergonomics than sacrifice it for a forward port. Btw, actual people who use it don't complain, only whiny bloggers who couldn't find a real job. C) The battery case is a case. It's actually has a nicer feel than Mophie or others after I bought mine. In the truest design sense, it has the best overall design of any battery case (form and function).

I don't know about Ive getting the heave ho, but I will say that there's more to design and innovation then making a product thinner. In an odd twist, this case, does the complete opposite and in a particularly ugly way as well.
Looks better than Mophie and others. More comfortable too. What else do you want?

Right it's totally different when your job is to defend Apple against those unemployed bloggers in tech forums. Because no customer in the history of Apple has ever complained about how one of the Apple products they own works.

I disagree that it looks better - its ugly as sin. The last thing I want in a case is a hump, its ugly. It could be more comfortable then the Mophie but the Mophie has better performance

What do I want? Well I expect a nicely designed product from apple, after all that's one reason why I'm willing to buy a premium priced product. I'm not willing to plunk down a hundred dollars on an ugly case that doesn't last as long as many other battery cases that cost 1/2 much and look better.

Totally a tumor! Even if the battery wasn't the full length of the case they could have made the hump extend to the bottom. I can see it on a table hump side down and it being launched off the table....nice fulcrum. Insane why they keep making the phone thinner vs. having decent battery life.

Why are so many having a stroke over this? If you don't like it, don't buy it. You all act like putting out this case somehow tarnishes Apple. Its like because Apple put out an ugly case, all our iPhones are suddenly cr@p now.

I mean, seriously. Not every product a company puts out is going to be gold.
