Is this the correct title? Shouldn't it be 'Tim Apple, the guy who ran out of ideas after Steve's plans and made minor incremental updates and canned any sense of technological innovation whilst introducing major price hikes whilst other brands get ahead'.

I’m curious. What brands are ahead and with what products?

If only Tim Cook were a genius!

For me, Apple lost their craziness, their fire, their subversive quality with the tragic death of Steve Jobs. They now seem to bow down to the lowest common denominator.

I posit that their whole culture was determined by having an insanely great genius at the top. In losing such a figurehead, the culture has become irredeemably broken.

Great to be back. Missed you all.

Laughable. Tim Cook has proven he cares little for innovation. If he did, we wouldn’t have a camera bump. Oh we have a great camera, blah, blah, blah. No, Apple. No camera bump. Figure it out.

Nope... As a photographer, and one who greatly cares about image quality, I'll take having a far superior camera over a bump any day.

If having bump keeps you so wound up, maybe it's best to find an equivalent phone without a bump?

If you really believed Tim Cook was a genius, wouldn't you wait until he retires to release a biography about him?

Releasing it now just seems like you're trying to get it out there before too many people see the writing on the wall and realize Cook isn't at all worth reading about (unless you want to see how to coast on your predecessor's success until it runs out.)

Tim Cook, in my estimation, is the antithesis of the Dos Equis guy. He's the least interesting CEO alive. His single-minded focus on profits and top-line revenue is laudable for investors but doesn't necessarily advance the vision that culminated in the company. #Sad

Genius? GENIUS!! He the corporate careerist who just happened to be at the biggest tech company booming & fell ass-backwards into the CEO seat when the true genius died.

Now, I am no fan of Cook at all and I think it's time for him to leave, but what you described above is not easy to accomplish. On a personal level it can actually more difficult to invent a new product and requires years of hard work, being trustworthy, and lots of sacrifice especially if the previous CEO, the one that gave him the blessing, is someone out of this world like Jobs.
You also forget that Cook was acting CEO when Jobs was alive (during the long absence), and you forget that Cook was named CEO when Jobs was still alive, so your account is historically incorrect.

I believe that Cook will enter politics. This is clearly an hagiography that is used to make his name a better "brand".

Incoming unpopular opinion: I keep seeing people arguing about Tim Cook with some saying he's a terrible CEO and some saying he's a genius. I think its probably a little bit of both.

Look, Apple products have some serious, undeniable issues that are not being addressed. Air Power, iPad's bending, iPhone's not charging, Macbook keyboards, etc. Innovation is obviously not Cook's strong point, and there are serious issues that Apple is ignoring that could really come back to bite them in a few years.

With that said, I also think it would be foolish to deny that Tim Cook is obviously a master at extracting money from people. I always marvel at how willing people are to quickly spend hundreds or thousands of dollars for Apple products. Even if they get burned by a faulty iPhone or a Macbook keyboard failing, many will still turn right around and buy more Apple products. I saw a person last week on this very forum who bought two brand new sets of AirPods and didn't even know if they would work with his wireless charger. I mean to have that kind blind loyalty user base is amazing, and something many CEO's could never get for their company. Tim Cook has been a master at getting people to spend their money on Apple in spite of all of these problems.

At the end of the day, Apple's shortcomings right now are not going to be Cook's problem, it will be his successor's. In 10 years (probably sooner) Cook will be gone, cashed out and living on a beach somewhere. He doesn't have a long term vision for Apple, but again, that's not really his problem at this point. Just my two cents.

That photo is awful. Is that the old man in the neighborhood who chases kids off his lawn?

APFS. Swift. 3D Touch. Force Touch. A/W/T/S/H chips. ProMotion. Terraced batteries. Speaktenna. TrueTone. Face ID. Touch ID. Butterfly keyboard. Metal. Taptic Engine. Touch Bar. Music Memos. Clips. Shortcuts. Final Cut. Pages. Liquid Retina. Apple Pencil. HomePod. These are all gimmicks.

Look at Samsung. There’s innovation.

iPhone needs split view so I can watch Twitch and YouTube at the same time.

I need a weather widget on the Lock screen AND Home screen. I need to see the latest weather conditions every time I use my phone.

iPhone needs a torrent client. No way I’m paying for any type of media.

If you want task-based productivity then the iPhone is for you. Otherwise no. Just no.
See what I mean? Totally ignores his contributions and gives anecdotal opinion on things that aren't innovation.

Features are NOT innovation. Neither are prototype products that don't work.

how bout we get back to product INNOVATIONS and serious attention to the devices and desktops, since that is the reason why anyone cares about Apple in the first place, then i think, a lot of the complaining will end for a while

Tim is a great person but he didn’t bring Apple to the next level, no real innovation happened and I don’t even get excited with their keynotes anymore. He did great as a professional CEO but nowhere near the creative level of Steve’s. I gave Tim a passing grade as Apple CEO.

He destroyed any sense of innovation at Apple.

Where did the innovation come in again?

I really do believe some MacRumors members doesn’t have a sense of what ‘innovation’ is and they take this term severely out of context. I think two of the biggest products that have been released under Cook was the Apple Watch and AirPods, if that’s not Innovation, then what is? The Apple Watch is leading the way in Health features and the AirPods are probably the most popular accessory Apple has ever created in their line up.
