Thank you! MR is almost unreadable... People forget about what made Apple so good and all they can do is whine about what they think Apple should do or not do. How many CEO's write you back? How may chief engineers or designers respond to your emails?
Whiners never win because they are always waiting for their beloved ideas to come back.
A dual-socket would get you to 44 cores using today's Xeon processors, E5-4669 and E5-2699 each have 22 cores each. One of the main reason to go to a Xeon E5 is to have a dual-socket system...I hope Apple does bring back dual CPUs and expansion slots for the Mac Pro. A 24-core high-end option is completely possible at this point.

Steve Job's is dead and he is not a God. My gawd, what does whining ever do besides lower the intelligence of the individual? If Apple is so bad, why are sales so much better than they ever were under Steve? Steve was a genius, but he is gone and he isn't coming back - and saying he would never do this or that is conjecture and speculation. There aren't whiners for no reason... when a good company goes bad, you're going to have to expect people to be angry about it. And, we can all remember how good Apple was - and we do. Do you know how I remember how good they USED to be? I do so by sticking with my Steve Jobs-era 2009 Mac Pro.
You're underestimating the huge R&D needs for watchbands.
I get it... and by me saying the whining is old makes it sound like I am against all of you. Whining is what everyone hates... what every employer hates about employees. Speak with your actions, not your words. And by "you or your" I mean anyone. 20,000 posts about the 3.5mm headphone jack going away won't do any good unless sales are truly bad.No, it's precisely because we do know what made Apple so good, and want to see that return!
that is the kind of Mini I would like to see (just dreaming)That Intel NUC skull thing looked almost perfect for hardware
As another said — Apple.
Apple has set the bar so high, and that we all now hold Apple to or above that very standard. Anything less is not acceptable, so when we see their missteps (eg. long delays, limited designs, appliance-like hands-off design), it warrants some complaining.![]()
The only way all will be forgotten is if the MacBooks, Mac Pros, iMac, and Mac Mini are all updated significantly next month.Next month, a new Macbook line of products will come out and all will be forgotten.
This post should be added to the M.R. Hall of Fame.I've BEEN tuned! Where have YOU been?
Because there is a bean counter in charge, not a visionary. And certainly not an advocate of the user experience.Steve Job's is dead and he is not a God. Anyway, I am not against you or anyone, it's just so old. The only way whining works is when it is done in silence by your pocketbook. Let that speak for all of us.
Next month, a new Macbook line of products will come out and all will be forgotten.
Yes, his enthusiasm for what he was demonstrating seemed incredibly genuine.Man, Thank you for sharing that video. I can't believe how much I miss watching Steve announce things. He was genuinely excited about the things he knew would change the world. I haven't felt as excited at a product announcement since he died![]()

When he's not too busy removing audio jacks from products. And the fact that probably the same person that designs the watchbands also does Mac Pros and MacBook Pros in their spare time.
Also, having so many options makes setup and support difficult. I can't waste time dealing with the antics of a Linux-based desktop OS or Hackintosh hacks right now. I'm sticking with my 2008 Mac Pro for now, but if I ever need to have the latest parts in my workstation without losing ports and expandability, a regular Mac is looking worse than ever.Linux ALWAYS looks viable to me. But in my case having so many options is almost debilitating. I'm just not very good at making up my mind.![]()
He means the non-retina MacBook ProWell he never said which Mac. The only Macs that have updated with the past year are Retina MacBook and iMac. The rMB was updated earlier this year and the iMac is due for an update. So hopefully he isn't just referring to the iMac.
A few thoughts on this....
- Current Macs, even those 2, 3, 4 years old are still exceptional machines that outperform mid-to-high range Windows computers any day of the week (not talking clock speed, but general productivity and problem-free operation). So there's no urgency for an upgrade that will satisfy an unmet need other than having the latest and greatest.
- Apple is definitely distracted by iOS, both software and hardware, and it's clear to see why. The future is mobile. But the Mac remains an integral part of Apple's operations. Can you imagine them designing the next iPhone on a Windows computer? No. But I do take Tim's response with a grain of salt. How intimate is he with the Mac, the user experience? I've observed issues that have persisted for months or years, with complete silence and inaction from Apple.
- People that email Tim directly are ... (blip).
At least it would solve the dreaded red light issueI hope they don't get rid of the headphone jacks in all new macs, cuz you know, they have courage.
