It's the same after every iDevice event. Because Apple makes seperate events for each category, people think that they have abandonned the other category if they don't talk about it. " What , no mac announced ?? that's it, they're abandonning the mac !!!"

Tim should just remind everyone, at the beginning of every event and say something like :
"Today's event is all about iDevices, we'll have more announcements about the Mac in a forthcoming event".
"Today's event is all about the Mac, we'll have more announcements about iDevices in a forthcoming event"
Except iDevices get much more regular updates compared to Macs. Have you seen how often Mac Pro gets updated now?

Whine, whine, whine, more whine.

What happened to this forum?

It's the only way some people can feel good about themselves, apparently feeling important and empowered by whining/bashing, giving their life purpose. It's been so precious watching over the years!

Steve Job's is dead and he is not a God. My gawd, what does whining ever do besides lower the intelligence of the individual? If Apple is so bad, why are sales so much better than they ever were under Steve? Steve was a genius, but he is gone and he isn't coming back - and saying he would never do this or that is conjecture and speculation.

Anyway, I am not against you or anyone, it's just so old. The only way whining works is when it is done in silence by your pocketbook. Let that speak for all of us.

Next month, a new Macbook line of products will come out and all will be forgotten.

See my post just above. Ultimately it's easier than voting with your wallet, getting control of your life, and moving on...

I pretty much hate Apple these days and wish I could switch, but I have too much invested in the eco system and I hate Windows 10 (and Android). With that said, people need to calm down. There's going to be another briefing in Oct or November to cover Hardware.

They can't release a new OS without having a briefing and that briefing HAS to include new Hardware announcements capable of showing off the new OS. I'm hoping there will be a 4K ATV announced to go with TV OS (although I doubt that). But the release of MacOS is a big deal to Apple (not to me, it looks the same as the last 5 versions, but whatever).

so HE loves it is the reason they are willing to keep the MAC. that sounds kind of pathetic for the fanboys

He means the non-retina MacBook Pro :p
In case you've forgotten, they still sell it. Yes, it has the same parts as in 2012. I think the only reason it isn't dead is they have extra stock.
Supposedly, it's one of their best sellers. And I can see why - User serviceability/upgradeability so it grows with you. No wonder they haven't updating the internals, it would put a serious ding into the sales of the high margin 13" MBP, with all it's glued in anti-consumer parts.

To be fair, the blame can be placed at Intel's feet. IIRC, macs still run on Haswells? Broadwell was badly fumbled, and Skylake was released last year. Which really isn't the new hotness anymore, since Kaby Lake is now rolling out. Intel also took their time getting TB3 out the door, which didn't happen until very recently.
There is no clear reason why any current mac should be using Haswell right now.

Thank you! MR is almost unreadable... People forget about what made Apple so good and all they can do is whine about what they think Apple should do or not do. How many CEO's write you back? How may chief engineers or designers respond to your emails?

Whiners never win because they are always waiting for their beloved ideas to come back.
No, people haven't forgotten what made Apple so good. It is that they remember what made Apple so good is why they are complaining so much now, when it has not been so good for a long, long time.

It's probably just a perfect storm of Apple working on new designs, waiting for new chips etc. Would you rather them wait a few months longer and put out a good product, or rush something that is fine, but not great. This is assuming they release some good stuff, so we'll see. At the very least, new rMBP's sound promising.

I get it... and by me saying the whining is old makes it sound like I am against all of you. Whining is what everyone hates... what every employer hates about employees. Speak with your actions, not your words. And by "you or your" I mean anyone. 20,000 posts about the 3.5mm headphone jack going away won't do any good unless sales are truly bad.

But enough, I don't want you hating me... it's not easy to always innovate.

I think it takes all kinds. Let people whine. I don't understand why whining is bad - it shows that people expect the best from a company that has given them the best.

I am not sure you notice but you are whining about people whining and one last thing - no one hates you. .

To be fair iMac is still in a healthy upgrade cycle interval, but in general those numbers are bad. Especially Mac Pro.

I don't understand why did they bring the manufacturing back to the us. I imagine they don't make a lot of those 3 year old mac pros.
The Mac mini update cycle looks "fair" as well, until you find out that the last "update" eliminated 2 cores...

It really seems Apple only want these Macs in their lineup:
iMac
MacBook Pro
MacBook

remove Mac Pro (no incremental updates, no more Apple separate display)
remove Mac mini (no incremental updates, no more Apple separate display)
remove MacBook Air (the replacement is here - MacBook - just waiting for better price / performance specs)

And, TBO... it might be good enough.

Unfortunately, like all the last few MacBook Pro and Air releases, these new models will follow the iOS model where the only upgrading can be done from the online Apple Store at time of purchase. No more 3rd-party memory or SSD.

I agree with the perfect storm theory but imagine the plight of a student who wants a good laptop before school starts. They would have ended up buying an old laptop. I think apple could have released a minor update during that period with a processor update.

Hey, I did vote with my wallet.

Used to Give Apple an average of $20K a Year.

Last year I bought a couple of extended keyboards.

Didn't help.

This may not be a popular opinion here... but I'm kinda glad I never got bitten by the Mac bug.

For as awesome as Macs, the Mac ecosystem, and the greater entire Apple ecosystem are.... you're still relying on ONE manufacturer to provide everything. It's especially a problem when that one manufacturer might not share the same vision as you.

It's even worse when you're a business making purchasing decisions. There are dangers when relying on one company to deliver ALL the solutions to run your business. If you don't like what Apple is offering... you're stuck.

I'm not trying to start a war here. This IS something I've thought a lot about over the years.

I do video production... and of course I've been tempted by Final Cut X. But I'm already fluent in Adobe Creative Cloud since I have used many of their applications for years. I could run Adobe CC on a Mac... but then it comes back to the hardware.

It's just not there for me.

The 5K iMac is beautiful. No argument there. But if I wanted a desktop computer... which I prefer... I wouldn't choose an all-in-one from any manufacturer. That's just not a form-factor that makes sense to me. And yet... that's the only form-factor Apple seems to care about.

But there's also the Mac Pro. It was powerful when it was released. A super-computer in a tube.

And then it sat dormant for 1,000 days. That's unacceptable. I wonder if there are companies whose accounting departments are kicking themselves for authorizing that purchase.

I hear stories all the time about companies who are ditching Macs and switching to workstations from HP, Dell, etc to handle high-level tasks like video production. I guess they got sick of waiting. Most OEMs have some sort of roadmap. It's essential. And yet Apple's roadmap is shrouded in mystery.

My custom-built Windows desktop tower isn't as pretty as a Mac Pro... but it's still a beast. And my Toshiba Windows laptop isn't as sexy as a Macbook Pro... but I get my work done with no complaints.

And I don't have to be beholden to a single OEM who, more often than not nowadays, seems to be dragging their feet on the hardware side of things.

For all you Mac users out there... I hope Apple delivers. I know you've been waiting!

(If anyone is wondering what I'm doing here... I love my iPhone, iPad and even Apple Music. And of course I love reading about Macs and Apple in general. I really am a fan. Just not on the computer side of things :) )

If they do that, they might as well ditch the whole line altogether. But they won't.

I just hope they'll still have MagSafe and not USB-C charging.

I think the writing is on the wall for all headphone jacks. Tim will probably say just like with the iPhone 7, we decided to move forward with our MacBooks and eliminate the headphone jack in favor of USB-C. Maybe they'll include an adapter? Yeah, 2016 will be known as the year Apple killed the jack.

No MagSafe. Headphone jack will be replaced with Lightning, not USB-C.

I started to use windows already.
I successfully started to use iTunes, and trying to figure out the Photo Library to whatever the program in PC.
Software at PC feel a bit out of tune but still works. Most of all, I can add RAM without overpaying.
