I don't care about a 5K display with only one input, no hardware controls, and that it is not 3D either.

But, who cares how long it’s been? My Late 2013 MBP runs great. Even being a power user, I have no need for a faster CPU or GPU (I don’t game). And looking at Geekbench scores, the entire Mac lineup fares very well against competition. Sure, there are some faster scores, but Windows. Really? Windows. I’m just curious what people are doing where they find the currently available Mac systems inadequate.

If you want to argue cost, I concede that’s a valid gripe. 3 year old hardware with no price reductions. However, I’m willing to bet that too will change, based on what we say this week (Apple Watch Series 1 still available, upgraded, at a lower price point, and iPhone 6s/s+, upgraded, at a lower price point).

Really, I think people just get off on bitching.
a new MacBook pro has over twice the SOLID STATE DRIVE throughput of a mac pro. Browsing the internet does not make you a power user.

Note I said "beyond the Air". The XPS CPUs Dell are using are the same low power ones Apple uses in the Air. Ones suitable for desktop or the MBP haven't been announced yet for availability (and desktop aren't due until next calendar year at this rate).

Honestly I'd rather have a "low powered" CPU which is much better than the current MBP line (all things considered).

If Apple releases the next gen MBP with Skylake it means that again we will be paying premium for outdated hardware, and at this pace the Kaby Lake MBPs will be released when the 8th gen Intel processors are released.

I am actually quite surprised that people haven't taken up my challenge to explain why they need new machines, other than they don't like paying for older technology, even when it is just as capable.

i used to be surprised by that too.. especially in the mac pro forum.
but yeah, you just aren't going to find one of these negativeNancys around here saying they neeeeeed more horsepower then go on to explain why..
the only software they actually use is geekbench etc..

if you want informed/real-world usage conversations about hardware and/or increasing personal productivity, you'll likely find this type of talk in various professional software forums. go figure..

I invested in a mac pro garbage can design, love it. and with this delay it's "less obsolete" and when the new pro gets released, mine is only "1 generation behind" :)
I run 2 4k displays and a single cinema display from my MP. It struggles in Xcode with our large storyboards. Creating an IPA for enterprise distribution can take up to 10 minutes. The trash can runs so hot it constantly warns the SOLID STATE DRIVE is over heating. I bought the MP because my fully loaded iMAC burned up in 3 years (apple said the back being hot enough to burn me was not running too hot, but the GPU fried right after it came of extended warranty). They're screwing us but good.

It takes time to continue to improve the Mac line to the level of consumer inability to upgrade that Apple has fallen in love with. They are also looking into doing away with all ports for your benefit which means wireless charging is coming and one big iCloud bill.

Why would you want a car if you can move around with a bike, right?

He's lying. And he's the worst thing to happen to Apple since John Sculley.

Right.. Proof bud. Hmm? You do know he's been at helm even before Jobs died (so, for a long time now) and that operations is why Apple got profitable in the first place (he was one of Jobs most critical early hire).

but when she asks if you still love her, do you then tell her to "stay tuned"?

well, you will need at least prepare yourself before you can please your wife right? ;) that's why apple takes so long to get the new unit out of door. some parts of the body were not functioning properly, need to tune up and then rocknroad lol
