Am talking about a reasonable budget here haha 4K OLED is still super expensive! When 4K OLED is a reasonable price then that's when I'll make the leap to up the resolution. For now though 1080p will serve me just dandy, thanks :)
ah - yes - gotcha - your right - the contrast ratio alone makes it better than led/lcd. super inky blacks!!!!

could you link me to where you explain this. I'm not questioning I just want to understand. ( my TV set is nearing replacement age - and there's a long article on AVSforums about why now is not the time to buy a 4K TV. )

Different topic-

I wonder why Tim Cook didn't mention the iPad Pro availability as well.

I guess that means exact availability date is not known yet.
Or maybe he thought it was simply off-topic to the conversation.
The iPad Pro is out in "November", while the :apple:TV is out in "October". With October having only 10 days left, he threw us a bone. Although, "shipping next week" could still mean an October 30/31 shipping date.

What do you want to use it with?
iMac.

Before you ask, yes I do own the previous 3 Apple remotes. Black, White and Alu. I do want this 4th one, for no other real reason than I want it. And I will use it. I use the alu one quite a bit actually. With itunes and other things from a distance.

wonder how fast they will be back ordered

Why bother even having a controller in the pack? I have my iPhone already.
I hate the remote app especialy when it always over scrolls ii just want to go one spot and it goes a few its such a pain. I much prefer the buttons

Can you elaborate? I have no problem operating Siri in english and all my Apple devices are set to use english as the system language (but with finnish keyboard). But I live in Finland and Siri does not support finnish. Are you saying I would need to order Apple TV from outside Finland if I want a version with the Siri remote?

As discovered by 9to5mac the Siri functionality will only be available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, UK and the US. And only in those countries five languages.

For the rest the Siri button on the, then called "Apple TV Remote", will be a search icon. But on Apples Swedish Page the image still shows a Siri icon, but the description of the button says "Search" instead of "Siri". So who knows...

Not sure if this is a first day purchase for me or not. Really want to see what "apps" come out. I had two ATV2's, but sold off one of them and rarely use the other one since I started using Amazon Prime which isn't on ATV. I instead picked up Amazon Fire TV sticks and also have a Roku stick.

Are you sure the remote is different?
Siri won't be supported in my language but I'd like to use it in english.
I can see the Siri button on Apple's site (my country's version) so I hope is the same hardware

Not sure. 9to5mac reported it would be different, but as you said and as I've seen also on the Swedish site the button looks the same with the Siri icon.

Perhaps the early plan was to have two different remotes, looking correct as to the function of the button, since not all would have Siri and then they figured out that would be just stupid since eventually everyone in due time will get Siri and it's dumb to have two different versions of the same remote. Who knows...

Shouldn't be a big issue. They've already been shipping plenty to developers for free to get them into making apps. They've had the supply chain up and running for a couple months now so they've got a study supply of them stockpiled.

Unless it's a crazy runaway hit (very unlikely), there shouldn't be a big backlog.

Lets race to see who can carry out tasks faster. I guarantee it'll take you longer to unlock your phone, find and launch the app then carry out the task than me simply pressing the desired button on the remote or asking Siri.

Some also don't have an iPhone. It'd be silly to ignore all of those without them by requiring they have an iOS device around the house to use this. It'd really limit sales potential to the 400 million iOS users to ignore the 1.5 billion Android users.

No. tvOS ist currently 9.0. Not 1.0.
Nope. They announced that the Apple TV would be running a new OS called tvOS. A "new" OS couldn't be at version 9.0 already. iOS is at version 9 and that is not the same thing as tvOS.

I assume the hard drive on the ATV is for when you download movies and apps etc, me personally I think ill be going for the smallest storage size, my internet is good enough to stream anything. So I will just be using the storage for apps (if I use them)

Movies are stores even if you stream. If you watch an iTunes movie the whole movie is temporarely downloaded to your Apple TV. That's why the 3rd Gen has 8 GB of storage, to fit a whole film. When you watch a new one that one get's downloaded. Same with Netflix, Youtube, etc, but they might only download part of it at a time. So count on 4-6 GB being set aside just for that.

The more space, the more space :) I read somewhere that appa for Apple TV will be limited to 200 MB but that might change and depending on what you wanna do you might want the extra space. No games, just movie apps? Then you're probably fine with 32.

Games can use extra space but it's only temporary. As soon as you leave the app, other apps can use that space. Imagine how much bandwidth you're going to have to use to download a game every single time you play it. Because of this, most developers will not be making games over 200MB.

I have yet to see a good argument for the 64GB over the 32GB. Just means you can have 200 apps on it rather than 80 apps. With most people only using about 5 apps total (based on iOS usage studies) and the others only being used once and then left to sit, it seems a bit silly to go for 64GB.

The new Apple TV is currently running tvOS 9.0 for developers. 9.1 will likely be released shortly after for iOS users.

Set-top box is so 2010. In 2015 you can buy Smart TV that comes with apps and you need zero cables. If you want to play then connect PS4.

Apple is getting really tired when they release stuff like this. They used to innovators now they re-release old technology. I had first set-top box in 1982.

Have you used the Smart TVs apps? They are slow, clunky and just not updateable. I was using Netflix on a new Smart TV and it took ages to find a film. Not to mention the pointless voice control. "Volume up" and it raises the volume one step after 5 seconds.
