You guys are beyond arrogant
I still think the internet should be "read only" by the great unwashed.
have fun with your tail chasing
Cry me a river.
Clearly not an electronics engineer. 3.5mm jacks take up NOTHING, space wise, nor do SIM cards. Armchair engineers. Pffft.
Since you don't own a 7+, I am not sure how you feel able to qualify absolutes.

and people pointed out how you were wrong on the last 2

so take a look at yourself before saying you are above others and saying there delusional

Well done. Do you not think I *KNOW* what I've said? Well done again.

"and people pointed out how you were wrong on the last 2"

I'm okay being wrong, I ain't prideful.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to your post specifically, I just HAD to try out my new favourite meme. No, MR is Know-it-all-but-actually-don't-know-all-that-much-so-have-to-compensate-for-that central.

...says the guy who countered someone with the argument that he couldn't know about bokeh without actually having an iPhone 7 in his hand (turns out it's just math and the other guy was right because he actually understood photography).

The comments in this post.......this place has gotten completely ridiculous. Another 50 comment pages of dumpster fire. Sometimes I wish we could just delete the Internet and start over.

Love the coverage MacRumors provides. Can't stand the forums any more. I think I'm out for good. This community has gone nowhere but downhill.
This is the absolute truth. It's gotten out of control here.

That's nice. Good spot. I was "wrong" -_-

Anything else, or is our therapy done, oh moral judge and fault-finding overseer?

I've always wondered why the camera takes photos in 4:3, while the video and screens are in 16:9.

Clearly you know nothing about photography. Or vision. Or words. These aren't blurry.

I suppose for some people, sunshine, blue skies, and green grass, are sufficient to make any photo look good...?

They are really blurry photos...

4:3 uses the full sensor (which is also 4:3), and photos are printed and scrutinised and looked at FAR closer than video, and 16:9 takes a slice of the sensor, as it's not the same shape.

You mean... UNclearly, surely? :p

I got over 100k just in lenses and these pictures look like crap. One of my camera body alone is 30k by itself with no lens. I'll be highly embarrassed to show these pictures off.

Note: I wasn't claiming these rival professional gear. They are no where close to even my rig (which currently comes in around $10k for body and lenses). That's not the point.

I was just trying to say that even someone like me that is fairly critical of photo quality (and it sounds like you are too) can say: "Hey, that's not bad!".

It's hard to judge anything about sharpness from these because they have been so heavily downsized and compressed.

I think the colors look great. It's obvious that all of those extra elements they've added have done a great job at delivering a uniform image edge to edge. Also, the transition areas and grading into the shadows looks smooth (a bit hard to tell with all of the compression and lack of resolution... but I'm trying to see through that).

This is only the beginning... we really need to inspect full res, uncompressed images before making any sort of a verdict... but I think this is a positive start.

Edit:

Since we're critiquing other's work... we might as well put out our own. Here are some of mine: https://500px.com/friedmud

Note: I'm not, at all, a professional... just someone that loves taking photos and works hard at it in his free time :)

Getting these shots is easy. You just need to become a permitted official photographer so you can stand in front of anything. Imagine all the other photographers behind: Step aside you ****! You are blocking everyone.

This is really nice. I might actually get a gimbal and other photo accessories for this.

Dear trolls, general pedantics, fault-finders and general right-all-the-time folk:

Had you actually WATCHED the keynote and HEARD what they said, you'll remember Schiller saying "We are not saying you should throw out your dSLR".

It's a PHONE CAMERA - they have admitted that and by implication, you are an idiot if you expect it to rival or better a PROFESSIONAL camera. You are a fool if you think otherwise, this is implied by them, because they KNOW and admit that limitation.

Didn't anyone's mother tell them "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all?" Sheesh, everyone is beyond rude to one another! It can't be healthy, can't we all just be friends?

You're right, and I am pretty certain that the majority of these people were dragged up with no sense of moral framework or boundaries (they're gonna deny that, clearly!)

Civil, yes, but a random spattering of strangers that just so happen to have the same curiosities as me ARE NOT going to become "my friends" any more than I'd expect all the people in the supermarket to be "my friends", just because they also happen to be in the same place.

Can you spell delusion? The internet can, and lives it to the fullest extent! :D

Pity forums can't allow people to boot one another off a thread for a week - that would be SO much fun.

This forum as well as pretty much all others on the internet suffer the same problem. People posting anonymously and safely from a keyboard. If you inquire about them, it's always the same story... they're 6'4", 240lbs of raw muscle. They've completed 5 degrees (two of which are PhD's). They work as models and freelance as bodyguards in their off time. They're experts in everything and they believe that only THEIR opinion matters and anyone with a different view is an underling who doesn't deserve to breathe the same air as they do.

Oh and I forgot to mention, these same folks make well into six figures each month playing the markets. :D

Nah, they're just average nice enough folks with too much time on their hands and a humility deficit.

These look like snapshots anyone could snap with a 5-year-old smartphone if they had access to the sidelines.

But since they're done with an iPhone then they're magical.

No way iPhone 4 would take these kind of pics. I guess your 3GS would take better pics.

Those still look oversaturated and artificial to me. I'll wait for a proper hands-on review of the camera but at best it looks like it may pull even with Samsung's best. Meh.

As long as it doesn't explode.

I'd like to see you folks talk this arrogantly in front of your grandparents. I bet you all suddenly become sweet little butter-wouldn't-melt angels. We are all arrogant, I admit I am A LOT, but I shall try not to be, and sorry if I have been.

Well, i can't say i don't want one, because i do!! But i am going to have to choose to either upgrade the MBP or the iphone. I think i will wait for the new MBP and hold out for the 2017 iPhone model!

And why can't we take wide format images with the iPhone? 4:3 looks so dated.

You can. Just go to video mode, start the recording, and tap the small white button to take a still pic. Stop the video when done. (You'll probably want to delete it.) I use this method all the time.
