That you know of.
[doublepost=1505924917][/doublepost]

He's a titan of industry that is responsible for one of the most valuable companies in the world. And even if he wasn't that, he's an American, he can speak out about whatever he wants, whether his products are magical or not. Why should he shut up? Because you don't like what he says?
Because his job is to run Apple. Nothing more. We don't need his ideas on Government polices. Because they have nothing to do with him.

That makes no sense. He can run Apple and still have a political statement. In fact, he's running Apple pretty successfully if you look at the stock price.

And the DACA issue effects Apple employees directly, so he is being their voice, as any decent CEO should be.

People need to stop complaining about Tim Cook being political. Apple is a globalist neo-liberal company. Love it or leave it!

The best part are all the people that complain about open-borders and free-trade liberalism while taking advantage of it. Oh yah, I'm sure you're willing to pay double for an iPhone produced in USA, or that you're willing to pay 4x more for fruits and vegetables picked by American labor. LOL.

Ultimately we Americans need to open our borders to allow for unfettered immigration. It would be a good way to destroy conservative culture, which we do not need in this country. Conservatives are just harmful to our economy and they do not produce anything useful.

The world wants to buy liberal products, not conservative products.

Apple (and thus Tim Cook) report to its shareholders. Love it or leave it! Conservative values and principles are holding this country together. (Example: Go ahead and try single payer healthcare in America. See how long until it collapses under its own weight just like ACA is doing. Costs would rise and quality of care would plummet.)

I would certainly (and do) pay more to buy American when I can because that keeps the money in the country so it can be spent again on someone else's goods. This multiplier effect helps to grow the economy within our borders.

First running Apple successfully is not got anything to do with political aspirations. I guess Ronald Regan was a titan of industry. With regard to the DACA employees , Tim is going to have to suck it up and admit he can no longer employ illegal immigrants.

My only question about dreamers is that most (if not all) are adults now. Why have they not applied for citizenship? They pay $500 every two years since they "came out". Why stay on a "work/school visa" to be here? They have passed all the background investigations for DACA, why hesitate to become citizens?

Ok, I lied...there are three questions...

This is a good point. Through an Executive Order that many legal scholars agree was unconstitutional, President Obama made the problem worse by permitting illegal immigrants who entered the United States at age 16 or under to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and eligibility for a work permit in the country. In rescinding that Executive Order, President Trump rightly put the burden back on Congress to fix this problem.

I feel for the Dreamers as well since they came to this country illegally, but through no fault of their own. This is their home even though they are not citizens. Nonetheless, the law is the law. What Congress should consider doing is putting the burden back on the Dreamers: Establish a path to attain some form of lawful American citizenship in a set period of time (3 years?), or else be deported.

I concur...how ever as pointed out earlier, their method of getting here, albeit not of their own doing, was illegal.

I am better because I am a LEGAL citizen. Illegals who circumvent the law and knowingly sneak across the border are beneath me.

No I don't believe so but if that makes you feel superior you have some issues.

Maybe racism or not.

I'm not going to try to change your mindset but you need to be firm with your convictions.

That wine you drink, that produce you eat, that hotel room that you stayed in more than likely was done by an undocumented immigrant.

You need to not be a hypocrite and stop drinking the wine, veggies, etc.

Unless of course you're okay with being a hypocrite.

I know they're authentic and that's the only thing I care about. Proving such to you or anyone else is irrelevant and a red herring.

Not really. Sherrif Joe Arpaio needs to make sure you're not a bad hombre. Papers please, and they need to be authentic determined by an ICE officer of our choosing.

Don't like it? Too bad, we have suspicions that you're an ILLEGAL, so you may have to spend a certain time in a detention center so that we can determine your status.

I don't drink, I grow my own produce and haven't stayed in a hotel room in years. Nice try though.

They can go ahead and talk to me all they want. I have no fear because I didn't illegally sneak across the border.

Yes, it was illegal, although most had no knowledge or part of that. And that makes their status today illegal, and all the Dreamers are aware of it. That has to be answered for, and I hope the Congress addresses it, else it makes it very unfair to the people who came to the US (or want to come to the US) through the proper immigration procedures. Maybe have them pay a fine, or a surtax for a certain amount of time? Waiving your hands and saying, OK you are all now full US citizens and we will ignore your previous years of illegal status isn't the answer.

Tim thinks DACA is the single biggest threat to America. Right after speaking about Climate Change. Hmm...

Because they can't. That's what the DREAM act sought to allow, but it didn't have enough support in a do-nothing congress to pass.

How about if I download and install Apple softwares illegally without paying for it, will Tim also support me because I am a “dreamer” of becoming a Apple fanboy?

Keep dehumanizing people. Says a lot about your character.

You're no better than anyone here. Legal or not.

My point just states legal facts. There is nothing dehumanizing about it.

Your criticism is exactly where this issue goes "off the rails". You attempt to vilify those who state these obvious legal facts because they believe following the law is important. You are using the same tactics that historical dictators have used.

You are wrong on so many levels. If conservatives said something like this about liberals, you’d claim hate speech and look for a safe space.

What exactly does DACA have to do with recruiting smart...legal...immigrants to the United States?
Not sure why this is so hard for Tim Cook to comprehend.
Not sure why people think that DACA covers the 'best and the brightest' illegal aliens.

Only 1% of DACA recipients have advanced degrees and 75% earn less than $25,000 per year.

The flaw Tim Cook is making is the connection between DACA and the H1B Visa program which is another discussion entirely.

If Tim Cook was so concerned with the advancement of the United States then he would be building iPhone factories in the United States and employing/training American workers instead of employing slave labor in China.

According to a different analysis published in the MIT Technology Review, if iPhone assembly were done in the US but the components were still sourced globally, the cost of making phones (currently estimated at about $230) would rise about 5%. However, if the components were made in the US (with raw materials bought on the global market), that would add an additional $30 or $40 to the cost of making the device, an increase that would then be reflected in retail markups.

No reason to destroy conservative culture unless you want no options. Also, conservatives are not harmful to our economy. Not sure where you dug that crap up ? I do not understand why you liberals want socialism and communism so badly but obviously you do. Also no way our economy can support unfettered immigration. No way. Do some research.

[doublepost=1505930613][/doublepost]
Cook said "dreamers," or individuals who were brought to the United States at a young age when their parents or guardians illegally immigrated to the country," only know the United States as home and deeply love the country.

If they love the country so badly why are they constantly trying to change it ? Maybe if immigrants fought as hard in their country for what they want they wouldn't have to come here and change everything.

People naturally want to conserve their lifestyle. Where I live mass immigration has led to lower wages, job losses, housing shortages, crisis in the health service and a lower standard of living for the most working class people.
