Another PR interview with the scripted questions and talking points. Apple executives are never grilled by journalists these days. Sad
Multibillion dollar companies don’t have to explain their motives and actions to politicians, let alone journalists. That’s why we need more government, not less: so we can have good legislation -and make everyone accountable.

It's a little-known fact that Tim Cook was raised speaking this way.

His mother after school: "How was school, Timmy?"

8-year-old Tim: "At Robertsdale Elementary School, we are constantly pushing forward what it means to receive a 3rd-grade education. Our diverse teams of students and faculty explore subjects like math and history from many directions and perspectives. We take the word impossible as a challenge. When we sit down in the morning, we are always asking: 'What is the best way to learn the material?' 'What are the limits imposed on us by the laws of physics?' And when we see the best way to teach a subject, that is a compelling force for us to power through any problems."
So basically Young Sheldon. 😹

Yet, Apple is still one of the few multibillion dollar companies that still has some core values and mission that goes beyond “let’s get more money no matter what”.
That’s not true at all. You only believe that because you drank the Kool-Aid. Apple is no different than any other average company. They aren’t good and they aren’t evil.

I did not saw the interview. But I supposed he is referring to the engineering part (e.g. apple silicon), one thing is the capacity of doing something vs actually doing it. iMessage on windows = apple has the capacity to do it but not the will to make it happen. Most likely they will not do it until either they are force by the gov or if they see a business opportunity.
AirPower?

Using this logic one could say your point of view is because you are an asperser of Apple.
Actually I like Apple a lot. Always have since the days of the Apple II. That’s why I use their products. I think they have very good engineers there. But that doesn’t mean I need to drink down all the ******** of their CEO and senior management and believe my preference is part of some grand epic storyline of good vs evil.

Your view is no more valid or invalid than the op you quoted. And your view of management is your opinion as the ops view you quoted is the ops view. Op didn’t drink the “kool aid” and you like their products. You don’t have to be a fan of apple management but people who are, aren’t drinking “kook aid”.

A few have very light beards.

Yeah it’s typical here. Everyone wants a brand new product every time. They need to criticise because they’re not capable of accepting all the good things Apple do.

Apple has revolutionised the phone, the watch. There is only one real tablet. No one else integrates a watch with fitness like Apple has. They started a new paradigm with the M series chips. They make their products look great. (subjective I know), but who else does an aluminium laptop like Apple. Most are plastic crap. Everyone copies Apple. If Apple made a foldable phone like Samsung, they’d be toasted over it. Class leader in Touch pad, speakers, screen, cpu, form factor.

Apple aren’t perfect, but that report about privacy put Apple in the best position. People need to realise what they've got with Apple, because in a different world we wouldn’t have them.

…And because I know the trolls here will hate that I am saying positive things about them, and I know they hate anything good said about Apple, I’ll start the Thumb Emojis for them. 👎
Well said! Apple is NOT perfect. They weren't perfect under the all mighty Steve Jobs either. Lots of armchair CEOs in here that's for sure. Feels like I'm on a random Android forum at times?

“We debate about things that we do and do not do, because we know we can only do a few things well.”

This knowledge is seemingly not demonstrated by actual Apple corporate behavior. They’ve been divesting themselves of core competencies, and adding Wall Street darlings like “luxury”, “services”, and “diversification”.

“Luxury” is not the primary bred and butter. Services and diversification has been around since the jobs era. “Adding an apple spin” is their core competency.

Why so much hate against Tim Cook? He isn’t a founder ceo. He isn’t a designer/product person. Agreed. But its not like he has ruined apple. He has considerably improved on the products and made the general user experience better. Taken many of the feedbacks and corrected course instead of being stubborn ; like reversal in design principles of mac 2016-20. It’s not like there were no quality control issues/mistakes during Jobs era; You are holding it wrong.
Imagine if Johny Ive became the ceo! We would all be having beautiful useless jewellery.

Yes somethings could have been better. But that was always the case. And to expect revolutionary products after products like the Job’s era is a bit unrealistic. He was a founder ceo and genius. Such people comes only once in a while.

Apple cares more about privacy, environment and minorities than other companies. You can be cynical about this and say they only do it for their bottom line. But at least they’re doing it.

Nothing to do with the kool-aid as there are plenty of companies out there that are pure evil: destroying our planet, societies and people.

It could be that "they care about privacy" to stand out from other companies so they can increase their profits not necessarily because "they care about privacy", but what do I know...Geesshh, they're doing business with an authoritarian dictatorship when they are the most profitable company on earth and could find so many other ways to produce their products.

The China argument again. You may recall that Apple didn’t make China the factory for the US (and the rest of the world). The US government put that in motion and it’s their prerogative to end it. For all companies. And btw, Apple is already moving production to other countries.

It’s also unfair to point out unrelatedly things that don’t go well to dismiss everything that does have an impact. For instance: privacy for consumers has nothing to do with Chinese production.
