I think people need to reign in their expectations. All Apple needs to do is rebrand the new SE to the “16E” as rumored and it technically counts as a “new member of the family” from Apple’s perspective.

I very much doubt Apple would be able to introduce something actually new without anything leaking ahead of time.
All kinds of things have been leaking, including a home hub. The timing is what no one reliably knows.
