Tim Cook Told Donald Trump China Tariffs Are 'Not the Right Approach' in Recent Meeting

With a CEO whose main worry is his political career, it's no wonder that the Mac product line is so twisted that the best designed and more rock-solid MacBook is the most affordable one (the MBA), and that iOS pop-up dialogs no longer accept "No" as a valid reply from the user.

On one hand people here are constantly berating him for his positions on social issues. On the other hand, when he advocates for the company that it is his job to lead, people berate him. What you are missing out on is all the berating you could do if you limited it to stuff like what Apple has done to the computer line.

Well, tariffs will cut into Apple's profit margins, but I am sure Apple will just pass on the increase to the customers. So iPhones will not only have the Apple Tax, but the Trump Tax as well.

Cook wants to give advice to Trump!? The same guy who just gave the commencement speech at Duke University, stressing "think different"? I believe Trump DOES think different ( than other self-serving politicians ), and Cook "thinks" he thinks different, but he doesn't. He has nowhere near the unique and innovative "vision" that Jobs had.

China tariffs are not the right thing FOR APPLE, Mr. President.

There, Timmy, I fixed it for you.

Or automotive, or construction, or really anyone but a handful of aging steelworkers who refuse to learn a different trade. Same as the coal miners who want us to subsidize their mines and healthcare and call it national security.

Timmy, why don't you work on fixing your ****** keyboards and leave the politics to the big boys?

Cook successfully runs the most valuable company on earth, and Trump hangs out on twitter and calls into Fox and Friends to freak out. Remind me who the big boys are again?

Funniest part of this is Tim implying you can have a meeting with Trump with nuance and “analytical things” and he’d actually A) listen. B) understand.

I hope there were other powerful people from the administration in the room too, jeez.

There's a new thing called experts .
To be fair, if the “experts” were right about anything they’ve predicted over the last year we would have seen Trump impeached and jailed, then we would have seen poor people getting no tax reductions or bonuses at all, then we would have seen Trump literally start a nuclear world war three.... yet on all of it they have been 100% wrong. Too often their political bias prevents them from being honest about the situation.

Putting tariffs on China might be an economic difficulty for both countries but the Chinese have abused our companies and IP for so long we need to get tough. I hope Trump keeps them guessing at wat he might do next.

In a potential military conflict with China, do you really want us to be dependent on them for steel? Think for a minute about the implications of being completely dependent on China. That is stupid and likely to bite us in the ass.

Are you nuts!? Trump is IN CHARGE of "The Greatest and Most Powerful Country In The World" . His budget dwarfs the budget of Apple. Who is the big boy now?!

I don’t know what you’re reading, but it certainly hasn’t been written by “experts.”

There are plenty of experts out here, and they get things right a huge percent of the time. Most Americans choose not to get their information from those people. Or they do get information from places that interview experts, and then misunderstand or misinterpret what was said. Your post is unfortunately a classic example of that.

“Think different” and “think stupid and act like a petulant child” are very different things.

I'm sure that was time well spent.

Meanwhile, why the sudden concern for those lost Chinese jobs?

Trump isn't in charge. He's controlled by the swamp creatures beneath him. He's also a prisoner of his inner demons, and dementia. He's a failed 'businessman' with connections to the worst of the worst. This country is suffering, and so are you. It just hasn't sunk in yet. It will...

Lol.. how exactly is the country suffering? Please be specific. I am eager to hear it.

If a Republican proposes it, then the correct solution is the opposite of that, since Republicans don't know anything.

Republicans are especially good at making the economy crash. Right now Republicans want tariffs on China, but that raises prices and hurts the elderly and poor the most, because they rely most on generic commodity goods that China provides.

Always do the opposite of what a Republican wants.

So, don’t hold peace talks with North Korea? Got it. This kind of all or nothing mindset is counterproductive and doesn’t help anyone.
