All I know is that scratches don’t happen on their own. But they also happen to any watch regardless of material.

That isn’t normal wear in jlsm511’s photos. I believe him that he did nothing to it, however that’s just not normal wear and tear.

there is not one scratch on my SBSS after a year of daily wear. Had many micro scratches on the SS before. So you can have watches that do not scratch. Hope the diamond like coating on the black titanium will do the same as it does on the SBSS.

Can anyone else with a Titanium AW5 comment on the scratching issue? I just ordered one 2 days ago and trying to decide if I need to cancel my order...

I’ve had mine a day.

Haven’t scratched it.

It’s going to take time to see what the reality is.

One other thought: Has anyone with scratching tried polishing a little bit? I know titanium doesn’t really polish, but is there a possibility that what we are seeing is something leftover from the manufacturing process (something to do with the so-called “nano coating”)?

So if he did nothing to it, and its not normal wear and tear, what is it?

I took some other photos from a different angle. They aren’t deep scratches. It seems like something on the coating? It’s hard to explain/show in photos.

So I just went to the Apple Store in Yonkers, and it turns out they had neither the Titanium or Ceramic watch in stock. I just decided to go with the stainless steel because I don’t want to wait 2 months for a watch, lol. If my Titanium comes faster than expected, I’ll just return the stainless steel one after 2 weeks.

I’m sure some of the flagship stores will carry the Edition though.

NYC’s W 14th St location did not have Titanium at 10AM

They have them at Fifth Ave., not sure about the other locations.

Of course the shipping dates improve to early October after I buy my stainless steel one, lol.

I shall return it... but I’ll use it up until the titanium one arrives lol

Does wiping it vigorously do anything? I still wonder if it’s something to do with the “nano-coating”...

So they only carry the edition watches at Flagship stores.. wtf Apple.

Why would I need to travel 45 minutes just to buy this watch? We have one in Scottsdale but I hate going to that store as nice as it is. I have a store in Gilbert 5 mins from home
I heard none of the stores had the titanium watches?

I find it hard to believe scratches like above are from normal wear. Not that i mean the poster is lying but more that it’s a mallfunction ore something. Don’t believe all our watches will be like this after a couple of days.

I got the silver titanium. So far no scratches but the top on the sapphire where it meets the case has more of a lip than the bottom. Dunno if it’s worth bothering with. The SBSS I got last year was bad so I returned and rebought. New one was good. So I know they’re out there. It’s probably not a big deal, but for the price it’s kinda annoying.

Digital Crown also wiggles more than my old 4

I looked at the Titanium and was convinced that I wanted the Ti, but when viewed next to the SS, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the shiny! The didn’t have a leather strap for me, so I went with the blue sport strap. Lot’s of leather options online.

I placed my order on Friday with ship dates of Oct 8-11. Checked the apple store app this morning and showed it was avail for pickup at the Madison Ave store. So I placed another order and just picked it up. Will return my online order when it comes in. My past two watches have been SS. I like the look of the titanium and glad I went with it. Time will tell how it holds up.

Double check but you may be able to cancel the online order if it’s not shipped. Have to dig down a bit to find the spot, but it should be there.

I’d originally ordered both SBT and SBSS but cancelled the SBSS after thinking about it more.

I took a look at the Titanium in store today and the demo model had a lot of scratches already. The finish is beautiful and has a “glow” to it which was very tempting. The scratches looks particularly noticeable on the brushed finish and I know myself to know that it would drive me nuts. I didn’t mind the scratches on the SS but this looks worse IMO.

I have the silver Titanium and so far all good love it!. Any watch will scratch of course but after 2 years my previous SS is still like new. I guess I am careful and a little lucky. I sure hope the Titanium will be the same as I really like the look compared to the stainless.

I guess I'm a little disappointed. I have the Series 4 in Gold Stainless and it's not scratched at all. I went with the Titanium to change things up and because I read that it wouldn't show scratches as easily. Mine is set for delivery next week. Ugh.
