So here's some pics. As I said above, the color really depends on the light. It was warm inside the store, and more silver outside or even in my home.

At first (in store) I thought that maybe it would go well with the Gold Milanese (see pics), but now that I'm back home, nope. It goes with the silver Milanese. You can clearly see the difference between brushed and polished at the connector level, but you really have to look.

So if it's not under bright white lighting, it looks more like brushed SS than some kind of golden brushed thing, and also not at all like the Silver Aluminum, which is more grey. The color may also vary a bit depending on what you're wearing it with, but I haven't tried that yet.

Very very happy with it. I find that it looks even classier than the SS. I didn't notice the difference in weight.

Could you possibly provide any more pics with the Milanese loop in higher light?

I compared the new Apple watches today in store and feel the titanium doesn’t really stand out from the rest like you’d expect it to for the price point. I’ll stick with the SG aluminium personally.
I also compared the 3 different finishes, space grey, and the two space black versions. The titanium looked like a slightly darker brushed aluminum version. In my opinion the black stainless steel looks the best.

I brought a classic buckle with me as I checked out the new Watches and was also allowed to put it on a Titanium Watch. Honestly, it‘s a non-issue. It looks just fine. In pictures it always looks worse because you see the lug part much bigger than IRL. Btw I‘m definitely picky like you. Stainless lugs on silver aluminium Watches look horrible to me. But the Titanium is much shinier and the stainless lug blends in just fine. I have 11 classic buckle bands and will definitely get the silver Titanium – if I decide the always-on display is reason enough for me to upgrade from the S4 (not sure about that yet).

I agree. I've been wearing it with the milanese loop since yesterday, and you truly don't notice it. It's the same color, just the lugs are shinier, but IRL it's not noticeable like it is on the aluminum. I will try and make better pics when the sun's out.

hmmm.... I appreciate the pictures but personally in my opinion, the Stainless Steel-lugged Milanese Loop still sticks out too much on that.

I'm very much considering upgrading to Titanium myself from my Stainless Steel, but I would then have to acknowledge I would be giving up my direct compatability with the 3 Classic Buckle bands I have (which may not actually be a huge issue for me - I've been using them quite less recently and gotten more into Sports Loops).

The Leather Loop might be a good alternative to dress up the Titanium in a fancy manner as it doesn't have lugs ah wait no no, that one discriminates against people that have 40mm, so not an option for me :(

I would advise that you try it in store before making a decision (and get out of the store light, to a window if you can as the color is different in the store's lighting.

I'll try later in the day. Today seems a bit better in terms of sun than yesterday was.

Has anyone seen scratches/micro abrasions like this on their Series 5 Titanium? After less then 10 hours of use. If this is the quality then I’m gonna take it back and get a Stainless Steel. I like the weight and look but expect more resilience then this.

I saw the same thing in the store models.

Are there titanium display models for viewing in non-flagship apple stores (that don’t carry them for sale)?

I tried just calling my local store before heading to the mall, but I’ve been on hold for 15 minutes…

Something must have happened and that can't just be from normal use jlsm511!?

Lmao why are people so hesitant to just admit that this model is going to be prone to scratching ?

it’s like your guys desire for the new thing makes you comeup with excuses as to why the watch is scratching

that looks so bad. And as Isaid earlier in the thread, the locked up display version at my store had major scratches before 1pm yesterday.

if you really didn’t do anything accidental to cause those scratches , and that is just from normal use, that is a big yikes

So they only carry the edition watches at Flagship stores.. wtf Apple.

Why would I need to travel 45 minutes just to buy this watch? We have one in Scottsdale but I hate going to that store as nice as it is. I have a store in Gilbert 5 mins from home

According to Istock they have the Silver Titanium at many Apple Stores so I’m guessing that the Regular Titanium will be demoed at every Store. The Black seems to be out of stock everywhere but there are display sightings so maybe you can find them.

These accounts are really making me reconsider the Black Titanium I’ve got on order. On the other hand it looks like they are going for a premium on eBay......

I got it yesterday at 10 am from my UPS Customer Center and didn’t set it up until I got home at 6pm. I wore it to dinner where I know I didn’t scratch or hit it with anything. I put it to charge overnight and when I put it on this morning I saw the scratches. The only thing I can think of is that on the charger the notifications caused it to rattle against the charger (I use the circular Apple Watch charger that’s sold standalone for $99) and that caused the scratches. Super weird though! I guess the material is pretty soft.

I’ve had Hermès models since the original and wanted something different this year. Guess I’ll be going to the SS SB.

That sucks but from what I have read it’s harder than SS but if it scratches it’s almost impossible to buff out the scratches on titanium

No I didn't make any excuses just more shocked that after that little use the watch has scratched that bad and Apple could have an issue on their hands! Surely this material had been through so much testing?
I personally would return that jlsm511 because that is not acceptable and that shouldn't happen from it just being on charge with an official Apple product!

Welp, after all these examples of it being super scratch prone, I just ordered a SS Hermès. My job is entirely too physical to deal with trying to baby my watch at that level. At least with the SS I can buff out the micro-abrasions pretty easily.

Yeah, the durability of the casing is strong but the scratch resistance is minimal. Its a bummer because I love how lightweight it is compared to the SS, and I love that sport band it comes with.

I wonder if this also applies to the black Titanium. I hope not, as this would still be my preferred choice.

Yeah wish that we could buy that sports band as well. Such a nice colour!

Mine doesn't come until today due to a UPS delay, but if that's how it looks after that little use I would return it. Not sure how that charger could scratch it either. Guess we will see if this happens to all of them, or if this is isolated. I will not keep mine if it does that.

It’s super weird. I would think it would be more resistant to scratches and abrasions then this but from what I’ve read online looks like it isn’t. It’s a shame. :(

Pretty happy with my black ti. If I don’t hear of reports of it scratching it’s a keeper. Would have been fine with the sssb but wanted something different.

I have a SB titanium on pre-order but with me owning a SB link bracelet and seeing the scratches, I’m going to cancel my order and get a SBSS.

All I know is that scratches don’t happen on their own. But they also happen to any watch regardless of material.

That isn’t normal wear in jlsm511’s photos. I believe him that he did nothing to it, however that’s just not normal wear and tear.

I chose Titanium because Sia is made of Titanium. Its more of a novelty then anything but it is a pretty unique metal with some interesting properties. I've had the SSSB for the last 2 watches and decided to go Ti black due to the DCL and I don't want my partner to know I got a new watch lol. I really would have like Black ceramic. As far as hardness some grades are harder and some are softer then SS. Grade 5 is definitely harder then SS but who knows what apple will use.
This! Every time titanium pops up in the Apple world I get this song stuck in my head haha
