My titanium came in yesterday, really like the look of it. Think it looks much better in person than in pictures, I can see the comparison to aluminum in pictures, don't really see it being that close in person. Don't really care either way though, just a personal preference.

Now to see if it holds up, will go back to SS if it doesn't look like it is going to, nothing so far, but today is my first full day wearing it.

Did you see if they wipe off. It’s probably other material from something else. Dlc should not scratch easily I was able to make mine look horrible with a key and it wiped off 100 percent.

I didn't try to wipe it off. But it seemed like it hadn't affected the coating as much as the brushed finish.

The differences between AW casings are so subtle I can’t see how there is that much difference.

Why did you emphasise the word ‘cheap’? What was the point in that?

Because none of them are “cheap”. Anything with the sapphire screen is more premium but the AL case watches aren’t exactly $20 throwaway watches.

I agree that in person it doesn’t look like the aluminum watch. It almost looks like a brushed version of the SS (best way that I can describe it.)

I totally agree, I hadn’t realised you were being sarcastic, apologies. The aluminium version gets a lot of flack on here since the S5 launch and it’s frustrating for those of us that have it. I do think it’s about time the sapphire screen was rolled out to all models though. It’s not a premium material in terms of its use in the watch industry so I don’t know why Apple have deemed it so. Marketing and profit probably.

Precisely on the marketing comment. Its a differentiator between the models.

Also, going back, Apple had originally marketed the aluminum version as the "sport". While more scratch resistant, its also more brittle and probably wouldn't have completely met the criteria many would consider needed for "sport" use...

While we all want unlimited options to fit our individual needs, I do think they've done a pretty good job with the range.

And from a marketing perspective, it works... Keeping the Sapphire exclusive to the "edition" watches is what helped lighten my wallet further...

Did she go down and pick it up for you at the store? That was very nice. :)

Pictures apparently don’t do it justice. At 11PM there we’re still two long lines, one for appt / pickups and another for walk-ups. She said she even saw a woman crying inside. Chaos as she put it. Had no idea what I was asking her to do! Can’t imagine what launch day was like...

Wow. I stopped in at an Atlanta store late Sunday afternoon and while it was busy there wasn't any line. I had to wait a minute for an associate to be available to handle my pickup, but all said and done it was a ten-minute total time.

Strange how the alu sport model has sapphire on the back and ion-X the front, it would be better the other way around wouldn't it?

They need to do sapphire on the back so it can accurately take vitals with the sensor, but the increase in cost comes when they add that to the entire front screen

Can you post pictures or a video of you actually doing that? I see you have claimed that multiple times, would love to see proof of that. Would alleviate some worries.

Received my Black Ti today. Had a SBSS Hermes unpacked since Friday and wanted to wait to make a final decision. This forum here has been super helpful. A little worried on the scratching after a great year with the SBSS, but I hope the Black Ti will hold up due to the DLC. Overall like the look a lot. Feels premium and works well both with the sport band that comes with it and even more so with the Link band. The brushed metal from the link band corresponds even better with the brushed black Ti case than I thought. Send the Hermes back.

In your opinion which looks better?

Am I the only one put off by those that purchase two watches and then return the one they don't like? Why can't you research online (here) or go into a store and view the models you are considering? Seems too me those that order multiple products with the intent to return what they don't like, (1) Delay other buyers from receiving the watch they purchased; and (2) Drive up the prices because Apple has to sell the returns as refurbished. Flame on.

Thank you so much for the photos!! That is the best match I have seen of all the photos with the Space Black Titanium in the Space Black Link Bracelet. Brushed case with brushed links look like a perfect match. I can't wait for mine to arrive now.....soooo close.

Actually, that’s very common with some who might purchase two Apple Watches, being they’re not sure which one they might want. A watch is a much _more_ personalized thing for some people, and pictures just really can’t make a decision for you in terms of how it looks on your wrist, overall the material, lighting conditions, etc. Now, most won’t purchase two iPhones and send one back, but a watch is a totally different type of product. I really don’t think it’s that big of a deal as you’re making it, especially being that the majority of consumers don’t purchase two Apple watches, but you do have those who are very particular on sites like this.

I like them both to be honest, I would be happy with either one. The titanium is sleeker, but like the SS gloss as well. Sorry, doesn't help, would just be up to your personal preference. If it looks like Titanium will hold up, I will be keeping it.

The marketing may have worked for people like yourself but I refuse to pay more than £399 for a watch that only lasts 3 years. Nearly everybody I know with an AW has the aluminium too with one person with the stainless. The aluminium doesn’t look inferior by any means despite many of the misconceptions on here.

Most people I know have the Aluminum as well, but I do know quite a few people with SS. Very rarely ever see a ceramic. I have no issue with aluminum, I think it looks good as well, I just don't like how easy it scratches. I wish apple would put the same glass on all models.

Well ...... much like others .... I’ve worn my titanium for 3 days and done nothing worse than live my normal life of work and a couple of workouts. I’ve done nothing bad to the watch and yet it’s scratched on the left side. The scratches are not bad but an indication that if I leave it a few weeks i fear it will look awful. I love the look of it and the feel of it but not prepared to take a chance. I’m not normally one to worry about scratches on phones etc but after such a short time and for no real reason this is scratched ... I’m not happy sinking the money.

Question is do I return to SBSS or order and wait for ceramic ..... can’t decide.

I fully agree that the aluminum looks just fine which is why I've gone with it year after year. I like the idea of the always on face and the extra storage, but really, upgrading to a model with Sapphire was my biggest driver this year.

My wife loves the AW, but is far lest of a "techy" than I am so each year I get a new one and she takes my old. That means each year she's inherited a watch with scratched glass... Next year she'll have a nice SB Ti with presumably an as new piece of Sapphire glass... Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :D

If there was an in between that offered the Alum body with Sapphire glass I'd be very likely to go that route, but I honestly don't see that happening any time soon...

Damn, not what I want to keep see happening.

Black or silver titanium? This is important as they have different coatings. The silver will scratch much easier. The black is DLC, same as SBSS. Pictures?

so I was googling on other watches and came up with a video in regards to Garmin Fenix 6 in black titanium. Assuming Garmin probably uses the same material as Apple. The guy used a blade n nicked the Garmin watch (didn't do it live but stated; so true or false i unno) it reveals the silver underneath the dlc titanium. I don't think I'll rub a blade on my AW though.
