Well ...... much like others .... I’ve worn my titanium for 3 days and done nothing worse than live my normal life of work and a couple of workouts. I’ve done nothing bad to the watch and yet it’s scratched on the left side. The scratches are not bad but an indication that if I leave it a few weeks i fear it will look awful. I love the look of it and the feel of it but not prepared to take a chance. I’m not normally one to worry about scratches on phones etc but after such a short time and for no real reason this is scratched ... I’m not happy sinking the money.

Question is do I return to SBSS or order and wait for ceramic ..... can’t decide.
Do you have photos of your scratches? I just place an order for an in-store pickup of another Ti since my first one got scratches after less then 24 hours of use. Would love to compare how yours look.

NOT trying to convince you otherwise, but... At the end of the day these are a piece of technology meant to be used.

I used to have a lot of that same mentality, but am mostly recovered now. I used to stress the same way about cars as well, try to keep mileage low on my weekend "toys" etc.. Eventually I learned that all I was really doing is keeping it nice for the next guy.

That doesn't mean I want to be careless, but I do absolutely plan to where mine the same as I have with my previous "sport" models which means all day every day regardless of activities. I'm spending good money on it and I'm going to enjoy it without worry.

Same reason I moved to a leather sleeve instead of phone cases and screen protectors. And man do iPhones feel better naked.

Not suggesting anyone else should adopt my same mentality, but I've gotten far more enjoyment out of this mentality than I used to when I was overly protective of my "possessions".. At the end of the day, its all just stuff...

Battle scars (within reason) are all just part of life.

I plan on doing workouts with my old series 3 sport. I would never do anything heavy duty with a $1000+ watch.

My local store doesn’t even have the titanium ones on display. That’s a bad sign, maybe they don’t want people to get an impression that they’ll look like that in normal use.

Has anyone heard of people having issues with the SB TI? So far it just seems to be the standard Ti having scratching issues...

My Space Black Titanium still looks new and I received it on the 20th during the day. I wear it about 16 hours a day.

No local store does. I wouldn't read anything into that.

I don’t disagree with you, i don’t use a case on an iPhone and I accept everything will end up scratched at some stage, so I wouldn’t consider myself protective. In my view (and it is only my view) the silver titanium shouldn’t scratch as quickly or as easily and for no real good reason. I don’t want to risk it looking like a piece of shi# in a few weeks. Of course many have said it will look fine with a few scratches but how do you know ? Time will tell.

Apologies it’s all packed up now.

I’ve heard none of the non-flagship stores have them available to purchase, but I thought all of them at least had them on display.
Not sure if the Union Square store in San Francisco is still considered a flagship, but there were no titanium models available for purchase when I was there. All the stores that I’ve been to have them on display or in the drawers underneath the tables.

Yeah that’s what I meant. But the store I went to didn’t even have them on display, I asked someone and they said they don’t have them available to look at. I’m wondering if scratches have anything to do with it.

Ceramic arrived today and it wowed me enough to take the SBTi back. I did take a moment to snap some pics of the display titanium models at our flagship store. Guess what? No scratches lol.

Anyway, we’ll see how I like the ceramic over the next couple weeks, definitely not subtle...

If they still sold the Space Gray Ceramic, I would 100% be on board. Ugh.

I agree id love a back ceramic. The white is just too bright for everyday wear for me. Also having 1500 tied up in something I need to sell in a year is a bit of a deal breaker too. The white will scream “I just spent 1500 on an Apple Watch” they do look nice though.

I decided the brushed TI is not for me after comparing it to some other TI watches and items I own. Unfortunately it looks very much like brushed SS or aluminum. One of the things I like about Titanium is the patina it develops over time. My Panerais and Omegas both have this along with my Benchmade knives but Apple puts a coating on the watch to prevent this from happening. Given that and the appearance that doesn’t look like my other titanium items I’m going to return this watch and wait for series 6 to see what they do then. I’ll keep my gold SS 4.

Took another one for the team on my TISB. This time instead of using keys I went at it with a ss kitchen knife. At first I thought it was destroyed but it wiped right off with my finger. Looks little bright on the second pic. Thats just the refelction from the heat lamp in the bathroom. No damage at all.

Completely agree with that.

Frankly if the coating isn't durable enough it would be better to leave unfinished...

My wedding band is titanium. It was originally a satin / brushed finish. Given the properties of Ti in a month or so's time just rubbing against my other fingers and through where it becomes smooth. Less than a minute with the Dremel and the right attachment its back to an as-new brushed finish....

For the watch I prefer the black regardless, but if I wanted the raw Ti finish I'd personally prefer it bare since its such an easy metal to maintain barring the coating...
