A day 4 here with my Space Black Titanium.

Worn to work everyday, to the gym, napped with it, etc. A few accidental light bumps to the watch but no marks or scratches so far.

Coming from a SS, I’m very happy with the Ti. Love the texture and how it reflects differently under different lighting. Definitely a keeper for me.

Good to hear! A bit of a silly question but did your AW - TI Space Black come with an additional grey sports strap in the box?

On Day 2 with my replacement Silver Titanium. No scratches or issues so far. I'm hopeful that my first Ti Watch just had some defect that lead to the scratches I experienced. I'll be keeping an eye on it and will decide on Day 10 if to keep it or switch back to SS.

Try harder....

Like... with real life objects, (i.e Brick walls, various door handles, brushing the watch against a grocery cart, maybe even grazing a stainless grill, garden tools...) You know, things that people actually come into contact with every day.

Do report back, thanks. 😁

Lol sooooooooo wrong

It is poppin. I'm tempted to try and just drop the complete 800 on it

Just ordered my natural titanium yesterday and it already changed to preparing to ship, optimistic and very excited! When I saw the titanium during the launch I knew I had to have it as it reminded me off a DeLorean and it’s the perfect color for me as the aluminum is too muted and the SS is too shiny for my taste.

Titanium is softer than steel, so of course the natural Ti watches are going to get scratched up. DLC coated Ti is a different story.

DLC will protect from scratches but not dents. 316L Stainless Steel is a couple of notches harder than Titanium.

That is not true depending on the grade of the stainless steel or the titanium. But generally Titanium is approximately three to four times stronger than stainless steel, which means its lifespan over generations is slightly longer. However, titanium can scratch, so its care entails routine polishing, or it risks becoming dull and marred.

I'm going to throw in my personal experience. I've played with both Titanium models. While I, myself got the SBSS and returned the SBTi. My family member got the nautral Ti. I've attempted to scratch the SBTi and the SBSS with an exacto knife and neither of them scratched. So I guess the DLC is pretty damn strong. As for the natural Ti, i didn't try with the knife since I'm less confident about it without the DLC. Though its been running since Tuesday and theres no scratches at all. I borrowed it for a day today and went to work, its running mint without a single scratch. Ref photos below. Maybe its because the watch is hiding under my dress shirt a lot? However I do take it out often because of news tweets and replying my co workers. So just based on my personal experience, I'm going say that people who have a Ti or SBTi and got it scratched are generally putting the watch through more extreme environments, more intense tasks, more extreme sports or they have a faulty batch?

You are wrong. You are referring to fatigue strength over generations and I am talking about hardness of a new product. Yes over decades, titanium has better fatigue strength than 316L Stainless Steel. But the Apple Watch is a product you own for one year before buying a new one so the fatigue strength is completely irrelevant. Over the next 12 months the case of a 316L stainless steel apple watch 5 will be harder and less prone to indentation than a titanium apple watch 5.

Just ordered the same with black leather loop and brown one.

I’m 100% snagging the brown leather but I had to go for the pine green on my initial as that combo really looks stunning. My favorite 2 bands at the moment are the pine green and brown leather for the titanium but I’ll have to snag the black leather as well for diversity.

How to you like the watch with the leather band?

Can you post a picture of the watch with the brown band?

Decided to switch from the gray band that came with the tisb and went back to the black from my sssb and prefer the uniform look.

Please let me know if you want to sell the grey band. Same for anyone else who got the SBTi and doesn’t want the grey band. Would love to get one!

Was at my local Apple Store today and handled the natural colored Titanium display model. No scratches on it initially when I handled it. I ran the edge of my thumbnail over the side of the case as hard as I could and while it left a dark grey mark, it was easily buffed out by my thumb and shirt. I similarly (covertly) ran the side of the watch case against the edge of the wooden display table. Same result - the mark was easily erased by my thumb and then shirt.

I’m not sure about metal on metal scratching.

This satisfied me about the Titanium’s day-to-day durability. Hope this helps.

So, you were the one who scuffed all the display models, eh? LOL...just kidding.

I don't think scratching against fingernails or wood will do it any harm. I'm sure it will scuff permanently when rubbed against steel or concrete. And these happen to be very common materials we interact with every day.

But again, under normal, mindful usage and if the watch just rubs against your shirt sleeve or fingers, it should stay pristine....until you accidentally drop it on concrete or bang it against a metal pole...then, darn!!

The natural Titanium must come with a 'DMC' coated finish

Does the sport band included come with a titanium pin or something? I have a grey sport band in new condition from 2017 and it looks 100% identical to the “dark grey”. If anyone is interested..

Not sure if this was posted earlier but found it interesting that the Edition was singled out in the Canadian return policy. Can't seem to find it on the USA site.

Apple Watch Returns
Apple Watch from the Edition collection may only be returned or exchanged if it’s in its original, undamaged and unmarked condition after passing inspection at Apple’s offsite facility. Depending on your original form of tender, a cheque, wire transfer, or refund to your debit/credit card will be issued within 10 business days provided the returned item is in its original condition.

im not going to intentionally scratch my watch. But if you read my posts I’ve accidentally banged my titanium against multiple objects.... including the heads of my forged golfclubs. Not a scratch yet. SS would def have been scratched....but also easily polished out. Just throwing out there my personal experience so far.

I acted with the purest intentions, in the forum’s best interests 😆
