Decided to switch from the gray band that came with the tisb and went back to the black from my sssb and prefer the uniform look.

IMO grey looks like discolored black and I also prefer black.

With black you can wear every color, cannot say about grey.

I would like to get a Ti Silver one, but the backordered for a long time. Guess Apple underestimated the demand for that and the leather bands too.

I had luck checking stock every morning near me.
ETA: Two Apple stores near me have stock right now 09/28 @ 5;15pm: The Grove & Third Street Promenade

I have the Ti silver. I can confirm, It did scratch easier than the aluminum I was trying out and was more obvious than the SS I used to have. It kind of lightly ran into my dresser with it on, and it made mark in the finish and left some very light scratches that I couldn’t feel with my finger nail.

However, I was able to polish them out with no problems, good as new. I used some tripoli on a cloth and gave it a few brief rubs in the direction of the brushed finish. Then hit it with some rouge on a polishing wheel with a Dremel. Just very lightly very briefly, then buffed it a bit with a polishing cloth. Can’t even see it under a magnifier now. I was about to return it because I tend to be hard on my watches. I only wanted the Ti for the sapphire glass because I have fairly scratched up the ion in the past and cant seem to keep a screen protector on the face. But, seeing I was able to polish it out, I’m going to stick with it.

nice to hear scratches can be polished out. Can you give more details on the type/color Tripoli and rouge you used? Also wondering what this would do to the “special surface coating“ that Apple says they apply.

For anyone in the DMV area, Apple in Tyson's Corner has both of the titanium finishes in stock. I went it to purchase the natural titanium and came away with the black after spending some time with both.

Wow, you went through a lot of work to restore the finish on the titanium Apple Watch. I wasn’t sure if you’re able to actually use any type of abrasive/polishing cloth on the titanium finish, but apparently you can based off your post. And I’m also not sure how a Cape Cod cloth would fare in the sense of removing any light scratches/scuffs on the titanium finish.

What’s interesting, is that you mentioned you scratched your titanium watch by hitting on your dresser, and yet another member allegedly was taking a kitchen knife and tried to scratch it, ‘claiming’ he couldn’t even damage it. So makes me wonder where the threshold is when damaging this specific finish.

I can guarantee you, any type of polishing cloth or paste that is abrasive, will remove the coating that Apple applied from the factory. Use caution. The same Thing happened to another member last year, they used a polishing cloth on the space gray bands on the iPhone XS, which also tarnished the PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating.

The kitchen knife example was in the black titanium which has DLC.

My local apple stores are not stocking the TItanium Watches for some reason.

Not every store stocks the ‘Edition’ models. Sometimes it’s based on larger stores that have a ‘higher volume’ customer base that will stock certain products. I have three Apple stores within my region, and looking online, only one of them has the Edition watch.

Hey guys, do your watches come with the small and long straps for provided sports band? Apple site is saying only M/L is in the box but I'm watching YouTubers unbox to the long and short strap.

I had the same question; thanks for asking. The Hermès only comes with M/L

The S5 Edition models come with both the S/M and M/L sport bands in the box. The Hermes models continue to come with only the S/M or M/L sport band depending on what case size you purchase.

Ok, finally done editing, and it up and posted....
This is an unboxing and physical walkthrough. I compare the Space Black Titanium Edition Series 5 and the Space Black Stainless Steel Series 4. I focus on the link bracelet differences, and show different straps. Please feel free to share feedback....and of course feel free to subscribe ;)

I'll be doing some software related videos in the future as well.

Two weeks backorder for TI Silver? Not sure if you are in the US, but in the US it is backordered online until early Dec. So, yeah, Apple really underestimated the popularity of these, at least in the US.

I don't think any of my local stores carry them in stock.

It’s the leather strap that’s setting you back until December. If you spec it with a sport loop....it’s mid October.

I receive my 40mm Ti tomorrow which I’ll wear for a week as my SBTi is not due until the end of October.
I’ll keep this thread updated with how it wears with photos but to be honest I’m absolutely loving the Ti with black sport band on the Juuk blog, scratches and all. There’s just something really appealing about that photo.

Polishing any brushed surface with a Cape Cod cloth is a very bad idea. Especially a softer surface like Ti. It will remove the brushed finish very quickly.

Agree, the black loop was mid October and the brown was Dec. I order with the black loop and I was charged after 3-4 days. Ordered the brown loop separately and it delivers tomorrow.

I don’t get the fear of scratches. Every watch will scratch. Maybe the titanium will scratch more, who cares. Scratches show you wear your watch. Plus you’ll be getting a new one within the next 3 years.

After getting to handle the natural titanium at the store yesterday for an extended period I noticed a few things (the demo unit was kept in a locked drawer if that matters):

1) There were numerous scratches on each side

2) I used water and my shirt and could not remove the scratches with that method and hard scrubbing

3) I am extremely anal when it comes to my devices being scratched or damaged and I did not mind the way the watch looked with those small scratches, it looked like a patina

4) The scratches were very hard to see unless I maneuvered it in different directions under the lighting. This was the biggest surprise, just how unnoticeable the scratches were from even a short distance.

5) The black titanium was pretty much flawless

After all is said and done I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase the titanium in natural for what it’s worth after my time with it.
