Not every store stocks the ‘Edition’ models. Sometimes it’s based on larger stores that have a ‘higher volume’ customer base that will stock certain products. I have three Apple stores within my region, and looking online, only one of them has the Edition watch.

I went to one of the Larger stores in my state and they did not have any for sale, and it was the store my nearby apple store recommend me to go to even see the Titanium Watch.

Ok, finally done editing, and it up and posted....
This is an unboxing and physical walkthrough. I compare the Space Black Titanium Edition Series 5 and the Space Black Stainless Steel Series 4. I focus on the link bracelet differences, and show different straps. Please feel free to share feedback....and of course feel free to subscribe ;)

I'll be doing some software related videos in the future as well.

Thank you, good video. Subscribed!

It’s strange that Apple picked titanium as an Apple Watch material, of course they knew how easily it scratches and it really comes into its own after getting a natural patina with age but that is only relevant in an item that we own for years like a pocket knife or Swiss watch.
The more I read about it, the more I’m convinced it was only picked as a marketing material and not what is suitable to the actual watch itself.

Any thoughts on this Ti watch with the Space Black Link Bracelet?

I saw the black titanium and did a side by side with both the aluminum and stainless (pic attached). The titanium looked marvelous BUT like many others have observed it was scratched. The guy said he saw it happen when it was dropped - very sad. I’ve got one on order but I’m really on the fence now. It looks much better with the stainless band but the durability is a concern.

Between this durability concern, the lack of new functionality and some accounts of shorter battery life I’m wondering if it may be better to stay with my series 4 SBSS this year.

I think those two photos show how much the link bracelet matches the SBSS. I really do think I’m on the SBSS boat now.

Kind of stating the obvious, but you can also check online to see what they have available for stock in your area. I’m not sure how accurate Apples inventory que is, because store inventory changes in an instant.

Did you mean the Standard titanium was scratched? Got any pictures of how bad it was?

It’s the leather strap that’s setting you back until December. If you spec it with a sport loop....it’s mid October.
I wasn’t to
Hey guys, do your watches come with the small and long straps for provided sports band? Apple site is saying only M/L is in the box but I'm watching YouTubers unbox to the long and short strap.
yes!
Two weeks backorder for TI Silver? Not sure if you are in the US, but in the US it is backordered online until early Dec. So, yeah, Apple really underestimated the popularity of these, at least in the US.

I don't think any of my local stores carry them in stock.
I used the Apple store app this morning and ordered the titanium silver for pickup at 12:00pm. There seem to be plenty of them in my area(SF Bay).

Titanium at the second apple store near me. Scratched to shi*

The only protective coating on the silver titanium is mainly to prevent finger prints and yellowing of the metal and one other thing I can’t recall. Nothing to protect against scratching.

12 hours with the Ti now after upgrading from a series 2. Super happy with it. I think it looks amazing with the Edition watch face and the grey sport loop. It looks better IRL than in pictures imo.

Agree 100% with this. Ti looks amazing in the flesh and would have gone for that model if I could have!

I have been watching this thread for a week now and was concerned about the silver titanium scratching. I went to the Apple store today to see it. The demo watch was kept in a locked drawer. It had a few scratches similar to what you will see on a bright stainless watch after some use. If the titanium develops the same type of scratches (patina) as the SS, I’m not concerned as I owned a S0 SS for 2.5 years and it looked great when I sold it. I walked out of the store with a new silver titanium. I’m happy.

If Apple wanted to hit a home run with the Ti watch (either version) then they would have also made a bracelet out of Ti. Putting the Ti watch on a SS bracelet negates one of the best features of Ti - the lower weight.

I’m sure it’s coming.

I love how people in this thread talk about how tough Titanium is and how it can last decades but most of us will be upgrading AW in a couple years and completely forget about the one we bought this year. The way I see it, Ti is more midway between Al and SS, the only reasons it's "Edition" are because it's new and costlier to produce than SS. Same argument applies for ceramic (except it's not new anymore).

When it comes to AW I couldn't care less about how strong the material is, I know I'll be upgrading in a few years eventually. I just want my AW to be impervious to scratches and look nice so I'll stick to SBSS.

Not according to John Gruber

Gruber has been wrong plenty of times, besides, he’s more of a journalist than he is an analyst. That said, I wouldn’t put it past Apple that they could release a titanium link band in the future.

The link band is for a very small demographic, because of its price point, but there are plenty who would pay for a titanium link bracelet, simply alone for the weight reduction.

Anybody else's titanium showing up as aluminum on their Mac? Mine shows up as titanium on my phone, but using unlock my Mac with phone, it shows ups as aluminum. My series 4 stainless shows up fine.

I’m staying with my SBSS 4 at least one more year
