I have stainless steel, but am considering getting the titanium in consideration of (a) extra band included offsets the price to "only" $50 and (b) the warranty is worth an extra year. Does anyone have any thoughts on those considerations? I suppose AppleCare+ is unfortunately more expensive...

Worth it!

That was my thought process - the extra band and the extra year of AC. Also you get an exclusive colour for one of the watch faces! I had a SS S3 that I loved, but the more I compare it with the Titanium that I just got, the more I feel the Ti is a bit more classy since it has a more muted shine.

Do you honestly expect to still be using this watch in three years? Or is it more likely that you'll be tempted away by the Apple Watch 6 or 7's improvements?

I've owned every generation of Apple Watch. I've never benefitted from anything over 1 year of warranty on any of them.

Hey, don’t rain on my parade of rationalizations for buying an Edition, haha!! :D

I’m a Series 0-5 person too...but man do I love the Ti haha!! Worth it all the way. The extra band, sapphire screen, and extra year of warranty help me sleep at night haha!!

Did anyone else order their Titanium Apple Watch on apple.com within the last week or so because I did and mine shipped from China but due to bad weather it is stuck there, Is anyone else's order delayed?

Mine was also delayed for about a day, there was a typhoon right off the coast of China, but it looks like it took off a few hours ago. Has yours moved?

Man, UPS is having a hard time. My watch finally made it to Alaska, but my status is now “Delay” with the message “We were unable to load the package on the plane as scheduled.” So they forgot to put it on the plane? Lol

So I just got the Ti watch and noticed mine didn’t have the screen protector out of the box like I saw on some unboxings.... for everyone who has it did you guys have a plastic on the screen when you first opened it?

i also noticed some micro scratches on the bottom of the watch near the strap lugs area.....Not sure how I feel about that

I’ve owned three Apple watches and none of them came with plastic on the screen.

So after a week... Had to return the natural Ti. Scratched up like no tmr randomly within one day. Sticking to SBTi even though i like the natural Ti more.

Photos of both the Titanium and Gold S5. Waiting for my black link bracelet to arrive on Friday to try on with both, but I'm definitely going to keep the titanium I think. It just has a subdued, minimalist vibe that appeals to me. I also enjoy how the colour changes depending on the ambient light. Altho only seven grams, the weight difference is definitely noticeable as the SS feels top-heavy whereas the Ti feels 'balanced' on the wrist.

Is anyone regretting getting the space black titanium over any other material?

I picked up the space black on day 1 and tomorrow’s my last day in the 14 day window. The one apple store that sells
Edition models have a ceramic in stock but I’m just not sure at all

I had tons of compliments last year on the gold SS

I’ve gotten no complements on my space black watch to be honest. I went without a watch for 5 weeks because i wanted to cash in on a good price for my gold SS so people who have noticed I’m wearing a watch again are asking me if it’s a Nike...

That’s how close the colours look from a distant.

I’m finding it hard justifying the $700AUD difference in cost between the ceramic and Ti

At the same time this is the first year I’ve gotten an Apple Watch I can’t say Im entirely happy with from a wearing standpoint.

If I hadn’t sold my gold SS I wouldn’t have upgraded to be honest

I don’t know if Apple will extended my return window a week if I tell them I want to try the ceramic and then decide

It’s been more than a week now and I’m still loving my SBTi. I still have my gold stainless steel S4, but find myself wearing the titanium more, the weight just feels nicer on the wrist. Yes it’s not as bling and attention catching as the Gold SS, but I don’t really care whether people notice it or not. And I really like the subdued sheen it has, and looks much nicer than the space grey aluminium IMO. Yes, some people probably won’t know the difference but my experience is that most people I come across don’t really know much about these things anyways.

I say go for what makes you happy. If you’re not entirely happy with it, might as well exchange it. It’s all down to personal preference at the end of the day.

This. I feel like people who know Apple Watches will know the difference, but for most of the population, they'll just know you have an Apple Watch. They won't care what material it is or think that one is more expensive than the other.

Buy whichever one you personally like and enjoy it.

That ^ right there tells the tale...you’re not happy with SBTi. It’s too much $$ to spend on something you don’t want.

Return it and get what you’ll enjoy.

I’m enjoying my space black Ti the weight is perfect compared to the al and ss. If I want to get noticed or bling I’ll wear my Daytona. All apple watches are just little wrist computers that all look the same to me. Some are shinier and different colors but still just disposable electronics and nothing special at all. Will be in landfills soon. The al would have been the most practical but I do like the sapphire crystal and weight of the ti.

I just ordered a 44mm SBTi from apple.com but they are saying 7-8 week shipment time :( What happened? Will it really take that long?

So has anyone actually scratched their SBTi yet? I know I saw a post someone saw one in the store scratched but it was probably rubbed against another DLC coated watch or it was other material on the watch.

I had and returned a SBTi. I have no regrets switching back to SBSS.

My thoughts - which apply only to me, and may not apply to others:

Extra "exclusive" sport band added no value for me as I didn't care for the color. Since I wouldn't have bought the band on its own, its inclusion conveyed no value to offset the price.

Extra year of warranty might be worthwhile if I had a realistic expectation of retaining the S5 for more than a year. Given the S5 has no processing power bump and is the initial foray into always-on-display, I'd wager the S6 will pique my interest. Resale values are pennies, with effectively zero recovery of the extra cost of the non-aluminum models. Perhaps the extra warranty might provide some additional resale, but I doubt it would be more than a small fraction of the price difference.

I agree Deeddawg with your comment totally.
Because of no spec bump, I feel next years will be a big enough jump to want to buy it. They may even perfect their titanium material even more.
The series 5 feels like a stopgap.

I wrestled with this myself. It’s the reason I’ve always bought SGAL. The resale on the “fancy’ materials was always horrible. I don’t need sapphire since I don’t scratch ion-X, didn’t need the extra warranty since I trade every year (since S0 no less), I buy knock-off or NoS bands from ebay, etc.

But...I’m a sucker for natural Titanium, haha!! And I’m loving this watch. It just brings a smile to my face whenever I interact with it.

I know for a fact that I’ll be buying the AWS6, along with the 2020 iPhone Pro and the new AirPods. If they drop Ti next year, I’m sure I’ll go back to Aluminium. But for THIS year, I’m stoked haha!!

If anyone with natural Ti is looking for a gray sport band that looks very similar to the SBTi sport band, I found a seller with some NoS bands. $20 shipped.

Stainless pins no less: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Ap...in-Apple-Box-Asst-Colors-MSRP-49/133179279704
