I've run all the "bleed" tests, the dead pixel tests, and observed the screen color. My iPad screen passes every one of them. Sorry, OP, but there are good iPad screens out there. Sure, some people have funky screens, but people complain on forums far more than they praise.

I love my perfect iPad!!!! :)

Post some pics, guys. Show me that you don't have a pink tint, especially when viewed from a left/bottom left angle.

I'm genuinely interested in seeing an iPad without this issue so I know what to do about mine.

Case in point, this post, whereby the poster shows the photo below and states "The backlight seems perfectly even on mine. The following pictures don't do it justice at all".

So if you're gonna boast about your perfect screen, and call those who are seeing a problem crazy or OCD, how bout you put your money where your mouth is and show us a photo? If some of us are in fact OCD, some of you are, in fact, blind, and I just proved that.

I have a perfect screen. I'm not boasting about it. I have *real*, medically treated OCD. I don't have to prove myself, certainly not to people who make blanket statements that are statistically invalid. Why the accusatory tone?

Tom

mcdj, if you don't mind me asking, which stores have you been purchasing from? I see you're in NYC. I'm right outside of the city and have been going to the Roosevelt Field location.

I have no idea what your post means.

I think we just want to see some pics of GOOD screens to prove that they're out there. After we fail five or six times, we start to give up and think that they're all the same way.

Lol what a world we live in where you demand that I prove to you that I have a perfect iPad. Lol ill pass but I did all the stupid tests since I was pretty worried and anal about my iPad. I found not one hint of the issues mentioned. I can't c
Find a problem that isn't there. Keep trying guy..... Or don't its no skin off my butt.

Right. It's perfect. It's just a big coincidence that it happens to show the exact same colors many are complaining about and I have seen firsthand, no camera involved.

It's ok people. Just keep on making excuses for not holding Apple to the standard THEY push on us. Next year they'll make 10 million iPads for launch day and the screen will be plaid, but of course, it will be perfect.

It sounds like you're just bitter that other people are enjoying their product. You seem to want other people to be as unhappy as you are, why is that? What effect does somebody enjoying their new product have on you?

I understand wanting a perfect product for the amount of money you're paying, which is why I returned my first one that had a scratch in the back case, but why bother coming on here telling people that they're ignorant just because they are happy with their purchase?

Think about some of the the things people (myself included) sometimes complain about. We complain about all of the tiny things devices don't do or do well. We ignore the fact that these devices weren't even close to being possible in the past. People used to have to hunt, or starve and we complain about slight variations in iPad screen colors.

Sorry, this post got wordy and serious, it didn't start out that way.

Have a great day everyone! No matter want color your screen is tinted haha. :D

Note that I didn't say everyone with a perfect screen has to prove it. All I'm saying is, if you want to call me OCD or some other name, post a photo of your perfect screen so I can have a chance to call you blind. Fair is fair.

I am in an Apple store the other day trying to get an old 3Gs past the activation screen. this person next to me is getting an ipad 3 and a little training. I looked over and the screen looks wavy, I said something to the genius and pointed it out to his coworker. Neither the customer or the other genius realized the uneven backlight looking directly at it.
Another ipad 3 was brought out by another genius and the 2 ipads were placed side by side. One great screen one with a greenish tint and uneven backlight.
If I didn't say anything the person would ahve walked out of the store as is and happy

I'm not demanding anything, I'm asking. It's funny how NOBODY with a supposedly perfect iPad will snap a quick photo. Keep using excuses like "we're too busy actually using our iPads! herp derp."

If some one is happy with their screen, why is it necessary for them to post a picture? Perhaps they don't want to listen to people like you knit pick every detail of thier iPad.

If you aren't happy with the build quality, why not get your refund and buy a different tablet? Seems simple enough.

I don't want anyone to be unhappy. If you're happy with yours, cheers. But why should those who won't stand for a pink/green/yellow/blueberry screen be ridiculed? Those who call us with complaints OCD are doing the exact same thing you're suggesting I'm doing. They want us to be as satisfied as they are. Like I've said twice now, if you call me OCD, I get to call you blind if you post a picture of a discolored screen. Why is blindness more acceptable than heightened scrutiny?

Anyone who claims to have a perfect screen needs to take a photo like the one below. I'm convinced they ALL have this pink hue issue. Somebody please prove me wrong so I can stop returning iPads and accept it for what it is.

You're taking the photo from an angle. You need to take the photo head on. The reason why there may be color differences in the screen when you take a picture is that from different angles, pixels will reflect light in different ways. This is called refraction. If you take a photo from the oposite angle, the green subpixels will be refracted leading to a greenish/yellowish hue.

My next step is to get a refund and wait a couple of months to see if production quality ramps up.

I'm not looking to nitpick anybody else's product. I'd like to see that there are actually screens without a pink tint issue out there, because I have yet to see one. If they ALL have this issue, then it is what it is. If not, I'll keep trying until I get a good iPad. I'm tired of taking trips to the Apple store. All of these "my screen is perfect but I can't take a photo of it" people just sound asinine IMO.

Well, I'm going to try another store right now and hope for the best. This is my last attempt. I can almost guarantee I'll be posting a photo of another pink screen shortly.

mcdj, sorry for somewhat hijacking your thread but I want to see a photo of a GOOD screen as much as you do.

After picking up on the hostility of the thread and being in a somewhat grumpy mood, I decided to participate.

Firstly those of you who claim that there is something wrong with me because I didn't hold my iPad up under a full moon, naked, strung by my heels having it at 100% brightness while checking for a missing pixel (making sure I miss nothing by having my eyelids propped open by bamboo sticks) and found NOTHING obviously wrong with my iPad, need to get LAID!!!

Secondly, for those of you that have a truly authentic axe to grind, I am sorry the product isn't meeting your expectations. Hopefully you will exchange it for a great one!

But to tell me that I am incorrect or don't know any better because I am happy with a product that I see no visible defects to, seriously should just ****. Or at the very least, think about what you are saying and how it will come off to others first.

Yes YOU have a problem, just because I don't have YOUR problem, doesn't mean that I am not looking at my device correctly or don't know any better is such a blatant case of hubris that it almost marks me speechless........ almost.

I can see your point, and I feel you and anyone else is entitled to a "perfect" iPad. We all put down our money for what we have been told we are buying. Apple didn't advertise multicolored displays. However, they are willing to make it right by accepting returns and exchanges.

I think the ridicule comes from the excessive amount of complaining that goes on here. Unfortunately, as we all see, many more people will voice a negative opinion than a positive one.

I posted this elsewhere, but here is my 4th iPad and has the best screen so far. Im quite happy with it.

It's ok Stevie Wonder. Enjoy your iPad. If you can even find it.

I'm posting off of my perfect iPad as we speak so yeah I found it. Good hunting for a great iPad. Or perhaps you'd be better off off with some type of perfect android device lol.

Why must anyone have to post pics onto a forum to justify their purchase? If I'm happy with my iPad, why should I have to post a picture to a complete stranger to tell me if it's acceptable or not. I don't need some internet "expert opinion" to make me feel good about my purchase.

Maybe the perfect screen does not exist, but to the purchaser they are acceptable. If your level of perfection precludes you from finding a perfect iPad, then maybe you should look elsewhere.

Having personally seen the pink/green color cast on a total of 9 different iPads, 5 of which came from different stores/shipments, I feel there are far fewer "perfect" iPads than perfect ones out there in the wild, that people are aware of.

There are several factors here.

1. Most iPad owners are not on macrumors.
2. Macrumors members without a screen problem (noticed or unnoticed) are not participating in the discussions about screen problems.

That said, I feel that there are a LOT of defective pink/green screens out there, and that people either haven't noticed, can't see it, or don't care.

Case in point, this post, whereby the poster shows the photo below and states "The backlight seems perfectly even on mine. The following pictures don't do it justice at all".

So far in the various threads, I've seen maybe 2 instances of a good looking screen, with photos. But I've read dozens of "my screen is perfect" posts.

I have a feeling some people are just not visually sensitive enough to see a poorly colored screen, as evidenced by the post and photo above.

So if you're gonna boast about your perfect screen, and call those who are seeing a problem crazy or OCD, how bout you put your money where your mouth is and show us a photo? If some of us are in fact OCD, some of you are, in fact, blind, and I just proved that.

All you proved is that pictures don't represent the same view as seeing something with the human eye. If you had half an ounce of valid knowledge about graphic displays, you'd know this already.

Why is it so important for you to be "validated as being right" about your own perceptions? Do you have such poor self-esteem issues that its not enough for you to be comfortable that you believe yourself to be right? Do you really need the validation of perfect strangers on an internet forum to somehow believe in yourself?

I have a perfect screen. To me. I'm the only opinion that matters in that perception. I don't care what you or anyone else believes about my screen.

See? That's not so hard now is it?

Look... I just looked at my screen through a camera and at different angles. The screen does have pink hue however that is the camera that you are using as well plays in. Move the camera to a different angle or area and the hue goes away or is minimal. Point the camera dead straight and nothing shows up at all.

I have no dead pixels and the screen is flawless to me when using and looking at it daily, just because a photo through a camera shows pink does not mean your screen is defective. You will notice the camera movement changes where the hue shows up. So stop worrying and just use the damn thing!

You have to look at the evidence building up. I have no doubt a number of users have a perfect (or shall we say hard to spot it's non-uniform) screen, but the majority of people who care enough can see the issues.

Let's just get this clear, Apple market this iPad 3 to be all about the beauty of the screen. A pink/green hue and/or a uniformity issue where the screen goes from 'grubby' yellow to a more attractive white is not my idea of a beautiful screen regardless of the resolution being pumped out.

I think it's obvious what the problem is, the information is out there. We have 3 panel manufacturers : Samsung, Sharp, LG providing panels for the iPad 3. IMO all 3 of them had issues in getting the retina panel ready in time, Samsung was selected to create the first batches (I'm not aware it's changed to Sharp/LG just yet), I believe that all 3 manufacturers probably had issues whether that be quality issues and/or not being able to deliver on the initial quantities required.

Samsung was selected because they could provide enough panels in the quantities required for the first batches to be manufactured albeit with panels which are simply not good enough with a high percentage probability of color and uniformity issues.

The 'litmus' test of course is when we start seeing Sharp / LG panels, I believe this will make the point very clear.

FYI I am returning mine because the screen goes from grubby yellow to lovely white (yellow about 1/3 way down from the front facing camera, where it starts to grade out to nicer white). I don't hold out much hope for the replacement, if it's not good enough then I will get a refund.

I will not accept this issue, and nor should any of you. If you cannot spot it then fair enough, but this is a very real issue I can assure you.
