Finally got my order in, a eucalyptus Sheath and a moonstone Paragon, both for the base 17. Fit is great; snug all around. The Sheath and Paragon are essentially the same thickness, I was hoping the Sheath would be slimmer, but I’m coming from an old 12 Sheath without MagSafe, so it does make sense that it is thicker now. Slight rattle with the Sheath buttons, no rattle on the Paragon.

I have been using Caudabe cases for years now - big big fan. Was disappointed to see that the cases this year that I wanted wouldn't be available till Mid to Late November.

So I ordered a Veil for my 17 Pro - it is so much better than the 15 Pro Max version. Grippy sides, covered buttons, I like it. Just a little slipperier than I'd like for my every day carry case.

Still wanting to get my open back Sheath but good grief - mid to late November?

So am I getting this right? The Paragon = smooth back - grippy sides, the Sheath = textured/grippy back - smoother sides?

The texture on my Sheath is exactly the same all over it ie. grippy.

EDIT: On second thought, it’s perhaps a little bit smoother on the sides but it’s still grippy. I think there is very little difference between the back and sides.

This is a response I got after paying 180€(plus 2 sets of buttons and shipping) for 2 cases and waiting for a month. To use a nail file. I had no idea this is a DIY project. Wow, I don’t know what to say. Maybe I can also use glue to fix warping around CC button on the Paragon. This Sheath feels cheaper than the Sheath I had and loved for my previous phone with sharp edges that make it look faulty and bad QC and edges cut in my hand in an annoying way right where I hold my phone. I only had similar issue once on a case that was like 10€ ESR. Paragon arrived scratched with defect on camera button and it’s warping around it. I still didn’t recieve response about it because I got it couple of days later, wonder what they’ll say about that one.

Can anyone who’s received a 17PM Eucalyptus Sheath and is in the US share when you placed your order and when did you received it?

That’s an insane response. Even if that was a solution, to recommend that to a customer is almost offensive.

I think it was on Reddit, but someone said that Caudabe has jumped the shark and this year seems to confirm that. They have an excuse for everything and each time veiled in an apology.

They are also being disingenuous on their responses. For instance, the rattling buttons…”even Apple’s cases rattle!” Not sure I’ve heard a complaint of Apple cases rattling. Their aluminum buttons have been lined, I believe. Also, “use a nail file, all cases have a seam!” Again, no.

The problem is they don’t even QC what they sell then brag about a team that is closer to production. Why not trial production runs instead of customers serving as the beta testers?

They make a compelling product but their best attributes right now are the marketing materials.

Damn, Caudabe is a mess this year. My frosty was decent, but I ended up returning it. Too bloated and boxy for my liking.

I’ve been rocking my Arc Pulse and Suti. Team minimalist here! I have an Apple orange silicone on the way.

I bought another case from another brand this week-end, and they said they were in back order.
I wanted to get this Caudabe case instead and cancel the other one, but after seeing your photos... I immediately changed my mind, and preferred to wait for the other one, because I know them.

You couldn't have said it better, this Caudabe looks like a DIY project XD

Update:
Screenshot 2025-10-29 at 13.50.39.png

So here is the reply, I called them out on nail file thing and comments on their subreddit about how button rattling is normal and stuff like that. Explained that it's not cool telling people sharp edges and pointy seams are just normal and acceptable on cases, especially not at this price point. I doubt they 'absolutely love getting super detailed emails like this' and prefer getting no emails at all, but I had to explain my disappointment with 2 faulty cases from company I recommended to many people prior to iPhone 17 debacle. I accepted Sheath replacement, I don't know why, I guess just because I loved the Sheath I had previously and it is my favorite case out of many I owned. They really are handling the situation poorly but I guess I want to give them a chance to get back on track. I don't know if that is the right call, I guess I'd prefer to see Caudabe learning from their mistakes and handling QC, customer support, their subreddit better in the future with not being apologetic or making excuses but to just mostly do things the right way from the get go. I'm thinking - worst case is that the replacement sucks, I get my money back and never buy stuff from them again.

So they're sending out replacements because of the sharp seams?

The button rattle was the first thing I noticed when I got my Sheath case.

The second thing I noticed was how uncomfortable it was to hold. The sharp seams were digging into my hand. I figured my baby-soft skin was too sensitive.

But I've already taken a file to my Sheath case. There is basically an "ashy" look around the edges of my case now.

If I knew the cases weren't supposed to have seams like they did, I probably would have requested a return and not damaged my case.
Do you think they would still accept a return request?

If they are trying to be fair as they claim, they should send you a replacement. Just write what you wrote here and send all the pictures from before and after. The reasons I recommend Sheath to people and the reasons I ordered it again was (other than minimalist design and textue) the build quality (seams were a bit visible but not sharp, one couldn’t feel them when holding the phone). Maybe they stop recommending nail file and understand that customers will return if they make things right, have better QC and won’t return or recommend to others if they have a sharp case that is not comfortable to hold and give them DIY solutions.

BlackBrooke, LuckyCoin, and Bullstrap. LuckyCoin and Bullstrap are identical from as far as I can tell, besides the inside being slightly different.

BlackBrooke is the lightest, can definitely tell in hand without the camera plateau being covered completely.

Still with that said the LuckyCoin is my favorite. It's the same as the Bullstrap but significantly cheaper, though I got my Bullstrap for $50 so I can't complain. The lack of branding on the LuckyCoin sets it apart to me though compared to Bullstrap.

Returned (or rather destroyed) my Sheath, got my refund.

Customer service was very good, just very slow.

Dbrand Grip arrived today, very pleased with it. It’s a keeper for sure.

FYI for anyone considering getting their clear case and wondering how this company’s business practices. I saw someone who really liked Caudable on Reddit and bought a case. But this thing broke on the first slip out of my pocket when I squatted down outdoors. Never ever had a case like this and I realized it’s not designed with any absorption. There is also not enough of a raised lip protecting the front screen, so the screen protector on two corners of my phone also cracked. But what’s even more interesting is that when I went on their Reddit to see if any other users had this issue and any planned design improvements I found 0 original posts on that and multiple comments from other users saying their feedback post got deleted. I tried making my own post and guess what, deleted as well. Well Caudable, let’s see how far your censorship powers reach.

That's definitely not supposed to break, and we all drop our phones from time to time. There is no way around it.

I too saw a Reddit user praising Caudabe after I had placed an order from Caseluxury.
At first, I decided to cancel the caseluxury order (Because they said they were in back order) and purchase from caudabe instead, but after stumbling upon this thread, I dug deeper, and boy did I find many other users complaining about caudabe cases this time around!

I decided to keep my caseluxury order, and wait the couple of weeks they promised.
I received mine yesterday,
I got it from here for the 17 Pro: https://case.luxury/collections/iphone-17-accessories

I also got a couple of other cases, but as far of the clear one, it's soft, and has that rubbery feel.
It's not going to break like the caudabe one.

I got the iPhone 15 case from caseluxury a couple of years back, and I'm not disappointed with the new 17 case.
Sometimes it's better to stick to what you know.

I just got the Sheath for my 17 PM. I'm in Ontario, Canada and shipping took 1 day which was surprising. So far I've tried the Mous Limitless, and dbrand Grip, but plan on returning both. The Sheath is fantastic, I love the form factor, and it looks like it will protect the phone if I drop it. The buttons don't rattle, but how do I determine if I have the latest batch?
